Maybe... just maybe you could bounce him in gal in S1901, and then we all live happily ever after.
G1 (92 D)
27 May 12 UTC
But yeah being a gunboater myself I have to appreciate the Czech. He's one of the few who I've ever played a live gunboat with who realizes that when he's playing Russia and Turkey doesn't bounce in Black sea first phase, it is not a sign that Turkey is a moron with no game experience. It's a Juggernaut signal.

^^Hint hint gunboat noobs read the archives and pay attention to other people's moves!

@Achillies then i run into the problem of if he does NOT move into there -_-. Then i have a useless army :p

@G1 yes, i have a great respect for the Czech. He is an awesome gunboater
G1 (92 D)
27 May 12 UTC
Yeah, if I'm in a gunboat and one player just cleans up, when I check the player id's at the end it's usually him :D
achillies27 (100 D)
27 May 12 UTC
Nixie, have you EVER been in a game where Russia DOESN'T open to gal?
and, yeah, the czech is very good.
nixie killer (0 DX)
27 May 12 UTC
and i like how he is willing to draw once he knows that, at least, it will be a long fight for him to win. Espcially when he the game has gone on until 2 am :P

@Achilles, on webdip, no, in real life and email, yes
achillies27 (100 D)
27 May 12 UTC
I'm talking about Gunboats, and the fact that it has never happened on webdip should tell you that you should bounce there...
nixie killer (0 DX)
27 May 12 UTC
yeah, i am realizing that >.<. I have only played a few gunboats on here, but looking at the past ones, i will bounce Russia in Galicia every time :p

There is a point to be made about different sites/different venues of play. What works in FTF or mail may not be true for this site. It amazes me how play is different on the German speaking site. Italy almost always seems to go for Austria on this site, but in FTF not so much. Adjust play for where you are and have fun. That's why I play.
The Czech (39951 D(S))
27 May 12 UTC
FYI nixie. I don't bounce Russia in Gal most of the time. I move to Tri instead.

yes, i now understand that. I have not played too many games on here as of yet, but i am looking through past ones to figure out basic webdip moves

basicly what i did in our past games?

Madmarx, Babak, Abge, Wizard, Crazyter, djbent, Ivo, FK, Lando, BZD to name a few...The styles are so different though so I can't name a best. I'm missing more, but I've enjoyed most games I've played.
Dejan0707 (1608 D)

I have about 15 names of players who impress me the most after I played with them, and at least that many names who I would like to play with but never had a chance.
NigeeBaby (100 D(G))
27 May 12 UTC
From the limited play I've seen in gunboats Barnett, SplitD followed by Lando & DipperD, The Czech, then there are a load of really useful non-premier gunboaters, too many to mention....
redhouse1938 (429 D)
27 May 12 UTC
@Dejan, this is the thread to celebrate them, feel free to expand.
@NigeeBaby, lol gunboat. Not my game, but alright.
@All, thanks.
This comes up every now and then, and I tend to have the same answer. I have played with a player "Stripy" who I think is likely the best. I have big respect for MKECharlie, peterwiggin, damian, V+, bas and many of the people who have already been mentioned.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))

When I joined this site, Rait and MarekP were the best, so they'll remain that way in my mind. As discussed in that recent GR thread, it takes playing a person more than once to get a good sense of if they are all that good or not, people can have a random bad showing, or a random good showing! So, my list is mainly of people I've played at least 2 or 3 times, typically more, and I'll put it in alphabetical order:

Akroma, Babak, BigZombieDude, Bugger, Crazyter, davebishop, djbent, EdiBirsan, Ivo_ivanov, MarekP, martinck1, orathaic, Rait, rdrivera2005, slyster, TheGhostmaker, TheWizard, V+, zultar.

There are others that I suspect should be on the list, and will be soon, but I need another game or two before making it official (especially since I've been wrong before)! ;-)

Correct, at one point I thought you should be on the list, but I was wrong. If you can only play one game at a time, you got a ton to learn, rookie.

awww...I didn't know you guys made a thread for meee!!! :D
Dejan0707. In the games I played him, he seemed unassailable both martially and diplomatically. I could never rally support against him. Looking at his other games, that looks like a common situation.

I was joking with YJ, Alex987, but perhaps he didn't see the humor...
slyster (3934 D)

There is a whole lot of good players I played against, but if I had to name those coming out of my head, those that have impressed me, and in no particular order: Davebishop, MadMarx, Dejan0707, Babak, Cachimbo, Tom Bombadil, Jacob... There are so much more good players I played against also, but I thought I'd name a few.

Although, in all of my games, the best ever comeback I ever saw was Davebishop in Final Game were we 2 way drawed. He went from a sure elimination to a 2 way draw, where he came close to win this. I honestly dont know what he said the whole game to his neighbours to give him that sort of comeback, but it was really fantastic.
A lot of names come to mind. I'm certainly going to leave some out, though. Madmarx is always a challenge, as is Tru Ninja, djbent, Crazyter, uclabb, Cachimbo, The Hanged Man* (I put a little star there because he has been an especially big pain in the ass in my games haha), The Wizard, zultar, MKECharlie, and martinck1. Any of those guys (and girls) could give anyone a run for their money. They can solo where lesser players (such as myself) would be forced into a draw.
Babak, Lando, Ebay and :)
Octavious (2701 D)

The best single showing I have ever seen on this site was from anlari playing as Italy. I credit myself with seeing the threat early on, but there wasn't a damned thing I could do about it. Imagine playing against a multi who's in direct control of the other six nations and you will have some idea of what the game was like, although a multu couldn't have come close to the subtle elegance of the performance.

It was a thing of beauty...

The game 'Masters of Europe' got paused during the recent problem, and we need to get it re-started by the moderator. There are 2 inactive players who won't vote to resume, and we never voted to pause it. Anyone know how to contact the moderator, or perhaps they will see this?
thanks.
