True trolls aren't trying to be trolls. It just sort of happens. Most of the time they are just egomaniacs looking to get their ego stroked and secretly hoping to not get the last word in while outwardly appearing to desperately want it.

The problem with the mute button is some people (me being one of them) sometimes troll and sometimes legitly participate in the threads discussion.

muting me when I am on good behavior would make it harder to conduct a reasonable political debate.

agree with abge... if you're stupid and annoying enough to get muted, then you don't deserve to participate in legitimate debate. I mess with people all the time, but nobody (except TC) mutes me.

Well having people mute me has its benefits. If someone does respond to one of my posts, it hopefully confuses the hell out of those who have muted me.

I noticed a thread started by K-A which resulted in me unmuting him. I now ahve 0 people muted

I simply mute people who get really obnoxious. I have 2 people muted and would like to keep it to that.

I have some people muted, and I would love to have this matter discussed; it's a pity that something this important has a thread with only 4 answers.

I agree with you guys... once a person gets to the point of absolute idiocracy, I'll mute them. Thus far only 1 has earned that title.

The real issue is, anyone who's muted KA is missing an amazing discussion about Diplomacy the movie.

I've popped you off of mine, Fasces. Your OTT topid on 9/11 sent me into a "I ain't dealin with this asshole today" mode that found me muting you so I wouldn't have to deal with you. Bettere to mute you than go off on you was my thought. I'm trying to do better lately and muting people short term helps.

It takes something extreme to get on the short term list and you have to be TC, maple, or krellin to make the permanent list. krellin came off once, then he crawled back into his bottle so back on the list he went. I won't make that mistake again.
