Oh come on telegraph. The term is INTERSEX. Although I object to the implication that having ambiguous genitalia means you wouldn't be sure of what your gender is. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's also not unheard of for people to identify with one gender or another, even if their genitalia would beg to differ. Biological determinism of gender is bunk.

I beg to differ. At least here in the states, violence towards transgender individuals that don't violate any of those three criteria is pretty pronounced. Anti-transgender legislation such as not allowing the changing of your sex on your driver's license even if you have successfully gone through sex reassignment surgery is out there in a lot of states. It's become a random hot button issue to distract people from Actually Important Things.
