Nope, poverty is defiantly distinctly related to capitalist societies and other such societies where money flows only from the bottom to the top. People in Russia weren't in poverty, they were just wealth challenged. As a result of the rapid industrialization of the country.

It is not becuse they don't get a government check (they do)....it isa because they spend more than they make....because they won't go get a job. *I* got laid off and took a job "beneath my abilities" to care for my family I am not as "wealthy" as I once was...but I am NOT impoverished. Why? Becuae I choose to work. I ALSO chose to START a capitalist business, in which I work and make money for myself based SOLEY upon my individual input.

Unlike in capitalist nations. Sure if you measure poverty as dollars they are impoverished compared to some people, though they still easily maintain equal basic needs. Additionally with the debt levels of a large portion of families in capitalist countries, most citizens in communist nations are worth more. Funny how that works.
