"MadMarx Beyond Metrodome" End Of Draft Statement.
I was picking on the turn. Which means that I was picking last in the draft order, tenth out of ten people. It also means that the draft was a serpentine draft, where I would get last pick and first pick in alternating rounds; two picks in a row all draft.

Not for everyone, granted, but is anyone on here who is above 20 going to be on line with Black Ops? PS3 or Xbox?

Need a few more for a clan. As long as your willing to be signed up for game battles...of course GMT would be ideal but im not picky at this stage.

Absurd logic thread

Make an argument using wacktacular reasonong. Example: bottled water should be taxed for road maintenance, because if more water was available we'd be further along in fusion research, but the bottled water companies don't want their product classified as a fuel, so they keep sabotaging fusion research, and hence force us to burn fossil fuels

Predetermined draw and you aren't in it
OK, let's say there are 4 players left, 3 determine they'll draw and slowly destroy the 4th (diplomacy does nothing). If you are the 4th and have the ability to aid one of the others to solo, do you do it? I sure as hell would!

@Timur His reaction? Never heard of a poker face? What did you expect him to do, stand up and start wailing in frount of the kids and the reporters.
Invictus (240 D)

I was in sixth grade. We were filing in for band class and some kids were talking about it. I guess some other teachers turned the TV on, but mine hadn't. At lunch I remember getting into an argument with this one kid because he thought we kept all our weapons in the Pentagon.

My math teacher explained to us who Bin Laden was (he was the sort who probably saw something like that coming). I remember my visual image of him was pretty much the Sultan from Aladdin.

After I got home from school I watched TV for hours. Our principal gave a truly awful and hackneyed speech on the intercom the next morning. He usually only talked on Mondays. I'm also pretty sure I had a baseball game sometime that week.

And Timur, if you're gonna allude to some crackpot 9/11 conspiracy do it on another thread.

To be honest (and this coming from a long-time Bush-basher) I think Bush during 9/11 was his best moment in office, particularly his speech from Ground Zero.

You can call that a man who couldn't give a real speech doing what he was best at and just letting emotion and raw words come out, what he felt instead of politically-crafted gobbledegook, and call that a great moment, or you can call it the best pick of a terrible lot of a presidency, probabyl a bit of both.

But I truly do think his dealing with the kids was good (what's he going to do, shout, "Oh my GOD, Laura, New York City!!! Move it, kids, I've gotta go, now! I don't want to alarm you, but this is a CRISIS and it'll likely affect your entire life and world view!") and got the military up and I DO think that image of him in the jacket giving an impromptu, "We were attacked and it hurts and we'll have time to grieve but don't you worry because we're not backing down and we're going to kick their ass for this!" sort of speech is what everyone needed to hear right at that moment after a day of feeling so helpless and beaten and--God forbid--losing loved ones to faceless villains.

Hated the presidency, loved that moment, and I have to give credit where credit is due.

That all being said, this is more for recollecting the day and the memory than any sort of 9/11 theories (which I think are bogus and often done in such a way as to be insensitive to the fact lives were lost, real lives, so we really don't want to hear you playing detective over their lives) and let's not have any of that here, you can like Bush or not, like his job on 9/11 or not, and I suppose even say that here, it was part of the day--

But let's not have any real "9/11 was an inside job" talk here, alright?

This is a Rememberence, as stated in the title...if you want to talk about your theories then by all means do so but on another thread, please.

And Iceray0, I hope that was a sick joke (and a REALLY, REALLY sick joke, and not a funny one at that...) and you're not serious about that...
I was getting ready to go to class. I remember my roommate turning on the TV, and the first tower had already been hit, and the anchor was saying that they thought it was a small plane or something. He talked for a little while and then I saw the second plane hit. I remember the anchor saying that America was under attack.

Was a senior in high school. My first class was Creative Writing. We were getting ready to wrap up when the teacher from next door ran in and told my teacher to turn on the TV because a plane had hit the WTC.

We watched for a while in that class but then had to go to our next class (marching band for me). My teacher in that class didn't know what was going on and had us out on the practice field until someone ran out to tell us that the second tower had been hit too. We all ran into the cafeteria (the nearest TV) and watched from there.

I was at home with my parents, i recovererd from a party the night before. in the early afternoon my dad came into my room and said i missed something earlier this day. I went to the the living room the news were on and show pictures of the attack. After a while i regonized tears in my eyes and said somehow automatically:"The americans will take revenge on the terrorists, but instead they will kill thousand of innocent people."
Today i think i instantly knew that the USA are not able to fight a "war" against terrorists and will take "blind" revenge. Sadly i was right from the start....

I was a sophomore in high school. Living in Oregon it all happened while I was eating breakfast before school. I watched with my brother, and parents as the second tower fell. Honestly, I felt really detached from the whole thing. Like it was happening in Europe. Maybe I felt that way due to living in Oregon my whole life, up to that point.

I actually had a soccer game that day. Everyone at school was just watching the news in class. We played our soccer game, and on the way to he game our coach stood up on the bus and told us that we will not cancel our game because he would not let the terrorists dictate our lives.

It was just a high school soccer game, but I still remember him standing up after everyone was on the bus and the conviction that he spoke with.
Draugnar (0 DX)

I remember hearing plenty of speeches like that with every high school and college ballgame, but also thinking "they already have dictated our lives." Airports were closed so we couldn't fly for business or pleasure. The stock market was closed for how long? They did dictate our lives for a short time. So while I agreed with the sentiment (and still do). The bastards honestly did have a brief win outside of the direct damage and loss of life by making it impossible to travel from coast to coast for two days and shutting down one of our primary ways of making money and bankrupting a lot of people when the market did finally open back up.
Shit, they're still dictating our lives. How pre-9/11 does it sound to argue that civilian courts should be the only entity in our government with the power to consign someone to a lifetime of detention, and that anyone accused in such a venue should have full access to counsel, or the right to cross-examine witnesses against him?

"I remember thinking, "Miro Klose is a douche." Sadly, I was right from the start.... "

Because of what? I was smarter than you on this issue! The americans would take it personally and their goverment would missuse them, that was my prediction. That happended so many times in history, especially in the history of the USA. And sadly i was right from the start...
No, it's primarily because you consistently express it in the douchiest way possible.
"After a while i regonized tears in my eyes and said somehow automatically:"The americans will take revenge on the terrorists, but instead they will kill thousand of innocent people.""

It's this quote that has people calling you names. Not you being "smarter" on 9/11. You didn't care about the fact that thousands of innocents had already been killed, apparently... only that big bad America would retaliate by waging a war on terror that ended up, as all wars do, with civilian casualties.

Do you respond like this to all attacks that initiate wars, or is it just when America gets hit that the civilians slain matters not, only the collateral damage from the resulting war?

"Today i think i instantly knew that the USA are not able to fight a "war" against terrorists and will take "blind" revenge. Sadly i was right from the start...."

And then this self-righteous aggrandizement to boot!

@ Miro - so you were out partying to the point you were still recovering *Tuesday afternoon*, but were also still living with your parents? Classy.

There is a significant difference between the invasion of Afghanistan and "blind revenge". In other words, if you think that what happens is an example of what the United States might do in a case of "blind revenge", you've lived a very sheltered life.

Who said anything about joking? It was the day I realized how fucked up the world really is. It's also the day I logged onto 4chan for the first time. I learned more in those 24 hours than most will learn in a lifetime.
warsprite (152 D)
13 Sep 10 UTC
@Miro Blind revenge by the US most likely would have been total obliteration of Afghanistan, and "salting" of it's land (see the history of Carthage). Other countries in anyway supporting Al Qaeda would also have suffered. The US has taken more than reasonable measure in it's attempts to avoid civilian casualties.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
13 Sep 10 UTC
@Iceray - and let me note that this question is not asked in a sarcastic manner - what did you learn in your first 24 hours on 4chan?
Miro Klose (595 D)

@Eden

"You didn't care about the fact that thousands of innocents had already been killed, apparently... "

Why do you think i was almost crying that day? You even quoted me on that, read it again brainiac...

@warspite

"The US has taken more than reasonable measure in it's attempts to avoid civilian casualties. "

I don´t believe so, two wars against the wrong enemies is avoidence...

"if you think that what happens is an example of what the United States might do in a case of "blind revenge", you've lived a very sheltered life. "

The USA bombed the freedom and peace into so many countries, so many times, the war on Iraq and Afghanistan were exactly what i expected...
