To be honest (and this coming from a long-time Bush-basher) I think Bush during 9/11 was his best moment in office, particularly his speech from Ground Zero.
You can call that a man who couldn't give a real speech doing what he was best at and just letting emotion and raw words come out, what he felt instead of politically-crafted gobbledegook, and call that a great moment, or you can call it the best pick of a terrible lot of a presidency, probabyl a bit of both.
But I truly do think his dealing with the kids was good (what's he going to do, shout, "Oh my GOD, Laura, New York City!!! Move it, kids, I've gotta go, now! I don't want to alarm you, but this is a CRISIS and it'll likely affect your entire life and world view!") and got the military up and I DO think that image of him in the jacket giving an impromptu, "We were attacked and it hurts and we'll have time to grieve but don't you worry because we're not backing down and we're going to kick their ass for this!" sort of speech is what everyone needed to hear right at that moment after a day of feeling so helpless and beaten and--God forbid--losing loved ones to faceless villains.
Hated the presidency, loved that moment, and I have to give credit where credit is due.
That all being said, this is more for recollecting the day and the memory than any sort of 9/11 theories (which I think are bogus and often done in such a way as to be insensitive to the fact lives were lost, real lives, so we really don't want to hear you playing detective over their lives) and let's not have any of that here, you can like Bush or not, like his job on 9/11 or not, and I suppose even say that here, it was part of the day--
But let's not have any real "9/11 was an inside job" talk here, alright?
This is a Rememberence, as stated in the title...if you want to talk about your theories then by all means do so but on another thread, please.
