Advice, Please?
This is unrelated to my thread "Liberals"
I'm Germany. I've moved into Tyrolia, and I can't decide who to attack. Austria or Italy? I have already taken hostile action towards Austria, but I think I can smooth things over with him. I also know of several countries who would be interested in helping me against Austria. Furthermore, Austria has taken hostile action towards Italy. Austria would be interested in forming an alliance to take down Italy. Who should I side with?

let's talk about holly-wood actors and new cell phones and the latest fashions and television shows and who likes who and the newest song on the radio and all the coolest video-games that are out and all the other completely pointless bullshit that fills so many peoples lives and makes them absolutely oblivious to how our world is falling apart around our ears

Sic said: "I'll tell you this though, if they wanted to spray shit water on yoru church I'd be right there with you"

I don't really buy that. If it were framed as a protest of some sort, I think you'd be in. Especially if it was a Christian church, which seems to represent the values that you despise in America. You clearly disrespect those who believe in traditional religions and I am convinced that it's because to be anti-christian is to be anti-establishment in your mind. I actually get that more than you know. I was very anti-christian and anti-religion for a long time and would have debate after debate trying to convince religious people of their failings in logic and science. But for me, it didn't stop with traditional religions, Growing up in AZ, I had many opportunities to tell Natives that I thought their religion was full of shit too. Come on, the San Francisco peaks were the birthplace of humanity? Why is that any less far fetched than a story about the garden of Eden? I can't really argue with you about the economic benefits of making snow and extending the ski season, which employs hundreds of people in Flagstaff, because I will say this for you, you are consistent when it comes to your disdain for people who chose to work for a living and you would be much happier in a world where everyone was living like you - except not of their chosing as your lifestyle is. So I'll skip that argument. But back to my former religious arguments with people - at some point I decided that I would never change someone's mind on an issue of faith if all I have to offer is logic and science. This epiphony allowed me to be more tollerant of those who had faith - any faith - than I previously had been. So when you make the comments about shitting on my crucifix or pissing on my church, my first instinct is to say - "cool, I'll go to some Christian gift shop and buy a big gawdy one for you to defile cause it don't mean shit to me" but then I hold back, realizing that it does mean something to many who I consider friends and that would be disrespectful. But for the record, you aren't pushing any buttons with me when you threaten (or offer) to defile religious symbols, I could care less - be it the cross, the star of David, the Crecent and Star of islam, a statue of Budha, an image of Shiva or the San Francisco peaks. I like to snowboard and Snowbowl is close. If it extends their season, and employs hundreds of people in a town that I love to visit, sounds ok to me.

@trim: "I'll tell you this though, if they wanted to spray shit water on yoru church I'd be right there with you"

using recaimed water which has been aproved by the EPA and the Az Dept of Environmental Quality is hardly "vandalizing". That would be the intentional destruction or defacing. This is just a matter of what kind of water is being used and the economics to a town in extending the snow season. It may be religious insensitivity, but it's not vandalizing
philcore (317 D(S))
13 Nov 08 UTC
shit - I pasted the wrong quote - I meant that for Trim and his comment: "i will gladly talk to the ends of the eart about why the bible in my opinion is rubbish but i would never burn one or, vandalise a holy place"

Dude... we're not mindlessly washing ourselves away if we can still talk about it. Yes, sports and games and songs and movies are all "diversions" from the "real problems" or whatever but honestly, in a world where every one of us is guaranteed to die, what makes changing the world any less of a diversion than playing diplomacy online for the rest of your life? In the end you just die anyway.

For the record, all water has had shit in it. So drink up!
philcore (317 D(S))
13 Nov 08 UTC
and really what's the difference in drinking water that once had shit in it and licking the asshole of the woman you love - or hell even someone you just met for that matter.

ok, that might have crossed some line - but I know some of you were laughing - and some of you were just saying "yeah, good point" but I think we can all agree that drinking on a work night and posting to diplomacy forums is a bad idea ...

For Sic - a "work night" is the night prior to having to go to a job ;-)

Don't despare Sicarius - Global warming will render all snow machines useless - if the temperature is above 5 degrees Celsius they are nothing more than a huge water hose with a fan infront of it.
Just remember not to eat the yellow snow :)

it's spelled despair.

look what it's about is religious insensitivity.
I might talk alot about how I dont like religion, and I dont it's all bullshit in my opinion.
but when I go to church I am respectful to the establishment and all it's members. same thing with a mosque and a temple, sweat lodges and any kind of religious place.
so I may not like christians or buddists are native religions, but I am respectful to them. if your church was being razed to build a parking lot or a wal-mart or something, I really would be there standing besides you.
well the san francisco peaks is a church. the whole mountains. and I dont think they should spray shit on it so yuppies can board down it then go get drunk at the mad-eye.
philcore (317 D(S))
14 Nov 08 UTC
well yuppies are going to do that anyway. This just helps the economy of the town by extending the season.
Sicarius, if you want to get into useless semantics like spelling errors, you using the word "it's" in the context of possession of something is the incorrect spelling. It would actually be spelled "its" in that context. You only use the punctuation between the T and the S if you are trying to say "it is". Just thought I'd clear that up ;).
Also, while I am on the topic of apostrophes, when you use the word "don't," there should be one between the N and the T, if you wish to be technical. The point I am trying to make is that you making corrections to people's spelling errors is just as useless as brushing up on the latest news about Brangelina.
P.S. It's spelled "Buddhists." :P.

yeah my post ws full of typos.
I've been dealing with a shitty keyboard but at least half are my fault.

@ phil [they're] are going to do that anyway
thats just silly. you cant ignore a problem because by ignoring it, it will persist. great example of circular reasoning.

do you not see why this shouldn't be happening?

I posted a couple of months back that I occasionally would make an in-game post and it would disappear instead of being posted. It was suggested to me that it was due to having multiple windows open. I may know better what is the problem.
