On The Forum
As some of you may know, I have been a strong proponent of a one forum system. After some careful reflection, though, I've decided separate forums are better. I have a proposal that would allow for the separation of topics without the segregation of the community that many fear. I realize this is a sensitive topic, so I would appreciate serious criticism only. I have taken the liberty of making a mock-up of my proposed forum here: http://i.imgur.com/rgcdsO2.png

@OB: Why do you think that OB?
OB_Gyn_Kenobi (888 D)

@ND - It's mostly a joke, DL has a bit of a reputation as a lurker. He said he "[had] to go now". Maniac would call that an anchor post.

##VOTE THDFRANCE

There are so many new players in this setup, why did you only ask LittleItaly those questions?
thdfrance (162 D)
15 Jun 15 UTC
Because I naturally have a distrust of anyone who plays/has anything to do with the little green devil who so often steals Trieste. Too long have the North Africans been subject to the torturous trecharies of the little green man.

##VOTE thdfrance

You made a conscious effort to ask legitimate questions of someone and ignored the other people who could be asked the same questions. When questioned, you reverted to jokeposting. Why? What was your real reason for asking only LittleItaly?

LittleItaly and other new people, wjessop, Brankl, HR for thoroughness even though you're not really new: Do you have any past mafia experience? What are your thoughts on whether we should lynch anyone today? Do you have any questions you need answered?

I'm new here but do have knowledge of the game outside. We played Mafia a couple of times in my university hall, though it obviously worked differently in a number of ways. I probably won't be drinking for the whole duration while we play/post here, for starters : )

...unless you advise it? Does drinking help you?
OB_Gyn_Kenobi (888 D)

GLHF all!

I've created a new vote tracker which can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18FNJiOUc2EHywIO7xenGK4V0kQbu8aKUNSnWBVy6XFg/edit#gid=0
I'd appreciate it if someone could copy it and keep a second version up to date, in case I die at some point and so it's easier to check for errors.

I find D1 extremely annoying because it's always full of these joke posts, and you can't really learn anything from them. However, we're usually stuck with them because as a site we've exhausted all our controversial topics - No lynch, Random vote, Bloc voting, Policy lynch are all things that have generating a lot of information (even if we did not correctly interpret it sometimes) but we've settled on a conclusion for, so any discussion on them now gets shut down instantly. However, I think I've found another topic that might be worth discussing to kick this game off properly.

I do not think the Vigilante should use a shot N1 unless he has a decent number of reads.

I believe that in every game thus far apart from M1, M2 and M8, the Vigilante shot someone N1. None of those shots hit mafia, mainly because the Vig had no decent reads at that stage - as such they just shot at lurkers, with no information to go off.

In M1, Thucy held his shot N1, and he managed to figure out the entire mafia team after I was lynched on D3. He had been roleblocked the night before, meaning that he still had two shots left, but had that not occurred he would not have been able to shoot y2k on N3 and the mafia would have won easily (we still won, but it was incredibly close).

In M2, Ghug held off on shooting N1. He died on N2, so he was only able to use one of his shots - something that could be considered bad, but given the lack of information available on D1, it's more than likely that his shot would have hit town, and that game got to LYLO so the one extra dead townie could have lost them the game.

In M8, the held shot was due to the player being inactive, but it allowed the replacement, tvrocks, to have the shots later on to deal with the werewolf - something that saved the town the game.

Every time a shot has been held N1 it's been of some benefit to the town, either allowing the player to use the shot later on, or allowing the town to have the extra man they need in the endgame through not having been shot. Every time a shot has been used N1, it's been of no benefit whatsoever - it has always hit a town player.

The argument that 'The Vig might die before he can use his shots', but is a no information shot any better than no shot at all? We've seen that no information shots have a 100% failure rate thus far, and with surviving looking easier than ever in this game (no SK), I think the Vigilante should seriously consider using saving his ability for later use this game.

Thoughts, everyone? Those who like the Vigilante shooting someone N1, I'd be very interested to hear why, and what response you have to the above.

You know when ghug is drunk; because he starts talking about screwing your partner.

"LittleItaly and other new people, wjessop, Brankl, HR for thoroughness even though you're not really new: Do you have any past mafia experience? What are your thoughts on whether we should lynch anyone today? Do you have any questions you need answered? "

3000+ live mafia games. 2 forum mafia games 4 years ago. So yes and no.

Clearly, we should lynch someone D1. I'd rather trust in the many than trust solely in the vigilante; nothing wrong with hoping for luck.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
16 Jun 15 UTC
@Captain

Very much agree. Vigilante shots are just dice-rolling early on. Holding off until N2 or even N3 if they're confident of survival/not confident of correctly shooting is a much better plan. Don't forget that there's 5 less people this game though.
thdfrance (162 D)
16 Jun 15 UTC
I also agree with holding the Vig shots. They are more useful, and will give more information later on in the game. As for why I only mentioned LittleItaly, I was in the car driving back from New Hampshire and didn't really take the time to look through and list every player I didn't recognize.
OB_Gyn_Kenobi (888 D)

@Captain: Are the permissions for the vote tracker set to all? Can't access it.
ghug (5068 D(B))
16 Jun 15 UTC
I'm sober right now. It's Monday afternoon. What do you think I am?

Cap/HR, disagree completely. The Vig is primarily useful for narrowing the pool of suspects. If the shitty lurker's going to cost a kill either way, it's better to get the one piece of information we're going to get from them as soon as possible and ensure we don't have to waste a lynch that could otherwise use on someone more informative. Furthermore, the Vig finishing his kills early gives us a confirmably cleanable town member who doesn't cost us power role benefits (by means of roleblock). If the Vig is lacking in reads, feels he's safe from the mafia and from lynching, and doesn't have a lurker to target, holding the shot is an OK idea, but if any of those aren't true, it's best to shoot.
ghug (5068 D(B))
16 Jun 15 UTC
@thd, so why did you bother singling out LittleItaly? Clearly something made you notice him. Do you actually have strong opinions on the Vig or did you just want to fit in with what meme and HR had said?
captainmeme (1723 DMod)
16 Jun 15 UTC
Sorry, had forgotten to hit share on the tracker. Have done so now.
OB_Gyn_Kenobi (888 D)
16 Jun 15 UTC
I'm with drunk ghug here, Vig kills are 100% town-directed and mafia-influence-free, which is why townies, if they know what they are doing, don't comment on kill timing or whom to kill.
DeathLlama8 (514 D)
16 Jun 15 UTC
I think part of the argument FOR the vigshot is that the vig is our only solely town-directed kill, that being said, Meme's argument does make a lot of sense.

If thd answers ghug's next question adequately I will probably unvote him
