OK so let's say that the owner of the domain decides to pay himself money, whatchagonnado? If he controls the website, and the code is all open source, then you can't really do much.

They decide to clamp down on religious freedom within Israel you can't really do anything since they have the power, even if you have a huge following. They are going to win the fight for control of Judaism. I have never run any organization, nonprofit or otherwise so I don't know what would happen. My guess is if the site did get huge, the main guy would probably find some way of getting some money and some people around him would get something too. Likely as salaries. That is what I personally would do. But I have no experience so I don't know. I think it can be framed as reasonable. Most major nonprofits pay salaries so if I were the one in control I would find a couple people who were already in the organization who were OK with it, and just introduce it once there is a huge user base. It may alienate a few users, but not as many as say adding advertising but so many other organizations did that while retaining their users.

But I doubt this site will ever reach anywhere near, say, Wikipedia. That bombards people with banner ads with "donate" amounts after they view a few pages of the site, and currently pays hundreds of staff.

Probably the best way to make money is just to have this website spread the corporate and government propaganda. If you do that consistently you probably will get something. Mentioned in famous website articles, maybe mysterious donations. Volunteers coming from military IPs willing to do a lot of your website work for you.

I have recently seen on the forum a ton of people with X's beside their usernames. Some are for spamming, but some I click through and it says "multiple violations" or some BS like that. So maybe there is censorship here. I am still posting though, so apparently vigilance is rather low.

Ah English, that is the exception that proved the rule. There was a separation between the people were originally in control of it, somewhere in the UK and America.
