Yeah, abge, everything that costs thousands of dollars is for the purpose of using, not showing off.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
10 Mar 15 UTC
So how about everything that costs less? If you bought anything not for the purpose of using, it's reasonable to assume you'd buy more expensive things not for the purpose of using if you were richer.

If you were very rich, perhaps you'd even buy an iwatch..
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

People should be donating whatever they don't need, $10,000 watches included.

BO, you should tell daddy that, you fucking Hypocrite
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

My dad doesn't have a $10,000 watch or anything remotely close to it, and I do, all the time.
ssorenn (0 DX)
10 Mar 15 UTC
thats not what you said, "People should be donating whatever they don't need"--the watch was added at the end
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
10 Mar 15 UTC
Okay, so? People should donate what they don't need, and if they are considering buying a $10,000 watch, they should be considering using that money for something they need or helping someone else acquire something they need.

Philanthropy is a wonderful thing, but you should try to take care of yourself first...Its unbecoming to say you give things away,(if you really even do) and then cry poor on here ...oh someone should give me this, POOR ME, Im BO HELP

What's the problem ssorenn? He's saying exactly that: people should take care of themselves first, then they should be generous rather than spending money on useless stuff.

You're not even arguing against his point.

Significantly less. A thing called scholarships, which, by the way, I earned. I'm paying little more than I would for an out-of-state public school, and since housing is free for me next year, I'm actually paying about the same amount starting then.

I just think it's interesting how the materialistic people such as yourself assume that people who have less and need more haven't worked just as hard and simply not had the results. You'll tell me one minute that the world is unfair and then argue against raising minimum wage for the people who need it or you'll go out and buy a $10,000 gold-plated watch when a guy 20 miles south of you could use that money as a startup to resurrect his life or something of that sort. It's as if you could be helping make the world better, but you would rather be here and be an ageist asshole.

But I'll leave you be. I guess it's your right not to pay attention to the needs of the humongous majority of the world since you have your fill and don't have any reason to care anymore.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
10 Mar 15 UTC
Care to elaborate on scholarships? In a PM, maybe?
Might just be the kind of thing I need to consider studying in America an option..
ssorenn (0 DX)
10 Mar 15 UTC
who's to say what one person needs or doesn't need, that's arbitrary. He said he(BO) donates all the time, while that's good(if he does) he then cries poor on here all the time. That's my point. He also goes to a school, which he seems not to take very seriously, at 55-65K a year....he should donate that and go to work at Mcdonalds

@steephie ... if you're coming over here, download the Scholly app, steephie. It lists thousands of scholarships and I guarantee that being an international student qualifies you for thousands more.

I have a little over $25,000 in scholarships. I got $10,000 from the school's English department for my writing and another $10,000 from the school itself. I have eight others (I think). Most of those are either $500 or $1000, which sounds small but makes a difference, and then another one that's $2500 a year I think. I don't remember exactly. All in all, I'm paying something like $25,000 for the year and something similar for the next three, and I got offered an RA position next year, which is either free or almost free housing. I have to look. That's probably $5,000 more than many out-of-state public schools charge.

no body here is buying an apple watch first, also arguing that the minimum wage should no be raised is another thing.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
10 Mar 15 UTC
bo, I think your argument is a bit disingenuous. I do not think you save anywhere near as much money as you could, just as ss and I don't. The difference is we are happy to admit it because we are comfortable with what we give back to society, and do not think it's wrong to buy things with our money that we want. Now, it's always possible to do more and people should be reminded of that, especially I'd they are in a position to do so. But your aggressively hypocritical stance does not have the affect I think you are hoping for.

It's hypocritical, yeah, but I have no reason to simply sit silent about what I believe while I'm trying to sort out my life enough that I can actually act on what I believe. I'd rather say it. I give absolutely whatever I can, even now, when, like every other college kid, I'm basically broke, but yeah, it's hypocritical. Don't listen to me if that bothers you.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
10 Mar 15 UTC

Thanks bo, but care to specify what exactly it's called, what the company name is, on which app market I can find it?

What I'm finding with a quick search on my mobile looks a lot like junk, hence I'm asking..

I worked quite hard for whatever it is that i have, and i have no issues having it and now at a later stage in life enjoying some of the nicer things in life. I support a family of 4 in downtown Chicago and i still manage to give away more money on an annual basis then it cost you to go to school, so FUCK OFF...i told you i sleep well at night, i don't have the demons of the unknown you have, I have already lived it

@ssorenn ... great, good for you. Happy life. Yay. Enjoy yourself with either useful and nice $10,000 things or give up the $10,000 to someone that will put it to use. Don't just decorate yourself with gold.

Or do, and then expect me to bash you for it whenever I get the chance.

Diplomacy with WMD's
every country begins with 1 WMD(can only be used after 1902 build phase) every other year would be an automatic WMD for countries larger than 7 centers. (this way no nuclear war in 1901, or 1902). A WMD would annihilate all forces enemy or friendly in a given location and if it is a center render it neutral and impassable for 1 year. what would this add to the game?

I thought it would be interesting to see MAD employed in diplomacy.
