If new players play well and sincerely, they don't get killed for being new. Typically, new players seem to be able to get an easier ride; as with most things, people don't always credit new players with the respect they may be due for picking up the game quickly, thus they may be underrated and evade harsher critique.

Dislikes, emanating from personal and stylistic differences can occur, but it's much more likely to arise from misunderstanding or inability to communicate effectively. Communication is key to this game.

The game can be somewhat adversarial -- because one side is trying to root out all mafia, and the mafia want to make townies squirm and look bad. But the game is the game.
