Perhaps the single angriest argument I could think of starting,
Best way to brew coffee.

I think a stovetop percolator is the best and anyone who disagrees should be doomed to playing as Austria for the next 1000 games.

I rather like Austria.

Austria is fun, so I'll go ahead and disagree even though I have no idea how to brew coffee.

Austria is fun if you spend 1901-1903 in a cold sweat.
I've been doing pour over coffee (with a special stovetop kettle for hot water and a little swirly pour thing) and it tastes better then my previous coffee methods.

And then I add an equal volume of cream, 5 sugars, and artificial coconut flavoring

If poor Valis dies and an autopsy is done, all they will find is an equal volume of cream, sugar, and artificial coconut flavoring.

At least they'll find a heart in us, OB.

To be fair though, artificial coconut flavoring is NICE.

Never give all the heart, for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Certain, and they never dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
For everything that's lovely is
But a brief, dreamy, kind delight.
O Never give the heart outright,
For they, for all smooth lips can say,
Have given their hearts up to the play.
And who could play it well enough
If deaf and dumb and blind with love?
He that made this knows all the cost,
For he gave all his heart and lost.

I think you need to use the 1977 Barnum and Bailey modification rules for that opening brainbomb. In that version, the game comes with elephants.

Im making a wacky variant currently for dip. I make maps for part of my Art. I plan to incorporate weather and terrain into diplomacy. And units can freeze to death or starve.
Valis2501 (2850 D(G))

They have those already. They are called hex and counter war games and Diplomacy used to be considered their special little brother

Plug in 1960s percolator for regular coffee and stove top percolator for espresso at home. French press (no, not a Dip variant) at work. My favorite coffee shop does pour over at their cafe and at the farmers market. Variety!

And usually black. Don't pollute your coffee.

The best stove-top coffee is with a Bialetti Moka Pot. Much better coffee than a percolator.

Ah yeah, I love my Moka Pot. I don't know why I called it a perc. Best home espresso.

French Press. I've never liked the bitter, watery flavor of percolator coffee. Other contraptions are way too expensive considering my casual interest in coffee drinking.

Heh, Valis. I have some of those Avalon Hill Bookcase Games, too.

BB, Machiavelli was an interesting Diplomacy successor that may well utilize some of the elements you may be going for. Check it out.

Putin: Try making cold coffee - 1 cup ground coffee, 1 litre cold water in your french press - put in the fridge for 24 hours, then plunge and pour into a bottle. Keep for up to 1 week in the fridge.

It's delicious, and making coffee this way doesn't extract the acid, which means that it won't stain your teeth over time (or anything you spill it on).

The 6 step way to make the world's best coffee:

1) Boil some water
2) Pick up your coffee making device
3) Throw it away
4) Add boiling water to a teapot along with some teabags
5) Wait a good few minutes
6) Pour into cup, add milk to taste, and enjoy.

Australian Politics, please explain
What is with the rivalry between Abbott and Turnbull? Is it really a geographical split within the Liberal Party between the influence of Sydney and Victoria? Or is it something ideological that I cannot discern? They both seem plenty rightwing to me.
