Perhaps the single angriest argument I could think of starting,
Best way to brew coffee.

I think a stovetop percolator is the best and anyone who disagrees should be doomed to playing as Austria for the next 1000 games.

Australian Politics, please explain
What is with the rivalry between Abbott and Turnbull? Is it really a geographical split within the Liberal Party between the influence of Sydney and Victoria? Or is it something ideological that I cannot discern? They both seem plenty rightwing to me.

I tend to think North Sea and Galicia are the most important sea and land spaces that aren't SCs.

Yeah, but I was holding out hope that the longest real played game of Diplomacy on this site would surpass that one in length and take its rightful spot in the ages of webDip records beyond the attention it has already garnered.

As two of the players haven't been seen for over half a year, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that long term games are generally undesirable. Whilst the 1915 cut off popular in parts of Playdip seems ridiculously early, I'm now convinced some kind of time limit is necessary. One that leaves the vast majority of games unaffected, but cuts of the crazy outliers.

How many of the tournament line-up are still active members of the site?

Congrats to the winners. I was the originally Italy but bowed out last year, 2015, and was replaced by The Hanged Man, my teammate. Russia was the big threat the whole time I played and I figured I had to do the "Carthage delenda est" thing. Neither Austria nor I could get any real traction with Russia looming. Germany saved my skin early on, which saved his skin when I helped him push Russia back. One thing I want to get on the record. Early on, I was in position to finish off Turkey and then France, and I wanted France to know that my intentions were to work with him and not against him, but circumstances changed and... well. I've never played a more frustrating or a more interesting game. Thanks to all my opponents and allies for a fun time.

The World Cups were to be held every two years, so we are actually due for the next edition in 2016. After the 2010 and 2012 World Cups, the 2014 World Cup was cancelled due to the Cold War. More information can be found here for those that wish to organize the 2016 World Cup:

I have a question? if WC games that are public press take this long to win would it be within reason to impose a cut-off year on those games? For arbitrary example: end of 1920.

I don't think the problem was Public Press, although that may have contributed. The problem was more that this was the final game in the tournament, with outcome-determinative potential and very competitive participants. If the Public Press game happened to have wrapped up before one of the Classic games, then we might have seen a prolonged Classic game instead.
Tasnica (3366 D)
16 Feb 16 UTC
Thank goodness that didn't happen! My Classic game was intense enough as it was.
JECE (1253 D)
16 Feb 16 UTC
CommanderByron: I believe it was my tactics in large part that made this game stretch out almost interminably. You shouldn't worry too much about that.
