March madness 2013!!!
In this 2013 basketball season it has been filled with upsets and well the battle of the better teams. I personally think the final four will be Michigan state Spartans, Indiana Hoosiers, Florida gators, and Michigan wolverines. Now knowing selection Sunday hasn't happened I thought I would have a little college basketball talk with people over America or out side who follow the college basketball association. What do people think will happen in the tournament. Thoughts?

Bring Sandgoose back?
I would like to propose bringing Sandgoose back. He's been punished enough and I found that creature hilarious.

The cheating aside, Sarg was an excellent player, he really didn't need to cheat to win games. Never had the chance to play with sandgoose.

Lando, Sandgoose may have meta'd twice with his brother. Don't blow it out of proportion.

Oh please lets not get into that again ghug, he was banned as at least 3 different accounts, rejoined without permission each time, was given another chance when found each time, and continued to meta, not to mention entering and posting as another user when they posted their password which is ban grounds on it's own. Those details were all explained after his ban.
Octavious (2701 D)

Sarg was pretty good (I think excellent may be pushing it... Perhaps in gunboats...) But he got bored. I don't think he cheated to win. I think he cheated for his own amusement.

Well, to nobody's surprise, I do agree with red. What SG did was wrong, but he *has* been punished, and there has to be some reward for making a majority of the site love you to the extent that they're still talking about you all this time later. That reward could be clemency.

Of course it would cause extra work for the mods, keeping eagle-eyes open, lol, and maybe they'd feel it was playing favorites. To my thinking, that'd be the point, but I can see the objections.

If Sandgoose did indeed do as jmo says, I'm fine with him being banned from this site forever. If the mods/Kestas consider allowing him back in less than one full year, I'd be... severely disappointed, if for no other reason than to discourage that sort of behavior by others. No offense to Sandgoose, hate the sin, not the sinner! ;-)

There seems to be some confusion about the facts surrounding this case. When Sandgoose was banned, we posted a brief explanation as to why. I'll outline this once again to clarify things and to back up jmo's statement above.

Sandgoose and his brother have had a long history of cheating on our site. They have each been banned multiple times for three separate stints of cheating. In addition, Sandgoose has been banned several other times for attempting to circumvent these bans.

In both of the first two stints: they had both been multi-accounting (each controlling several accounts in the same game) and meta-gaming (playing together unfairly in games). In the third stint (involving the accounts Sandgoose and NKCell) they were each using an individual account, but were meta-gaming by playing together unfairly.

It seems like some in community have been calling for leniency in this case, but this would appear to be based on a distorted view of the facts as misrepresented by Sandgoose. Further, we have already been incredibly lenient in this case. His last major stint as Sandgoose was in fact after two previous bans for repeated multi/meta. We let him back as Sandgoose to give him another chance on strictest conditions of not cheating any further, but unfortunately we were left disappointed yet again by the meta-gaming and a separate incident involving Sandgoose abusing another player's account.

Since then, he has been petitioning for reinstatement through the court of public opinion, but it seems that, in his personal correspondence with various members of the community, he has been willfully misrepresenting and/or downplaying the well-established history of his cheating.

I don't condone what he did. Nro am I one to judge it as I haven't seen all the evidence (and no, that is not a call to see it: keep it sealed). I just said bring him back to the forum only. Zero points on the account means he can't even join and abandoned position to try and get some. Just posting to the forum is all he could do.

I see no reason at all why we should have Sandgoose back. I am all in favour of second chances. In extreme cases I may be persuaded to give a third chance. But under no circumstances will I support someone being given the opportunity to show how little respect he has for the community a forth time.

Yes, he wrote a lovely little email of apology. Yes, he made himself popular in some quarters. I remind us all that the primary activity of all of us on this site is to make ourselves popular and worm our way out of trouble just before we shove the knife in. We are excellent at portraying ourselves as in a good light when secretly we are acting purely for our self amusement. We are masters at coming across as genuinely apologetic when we need it to gain an advantage. At the end of the day the only thing we can really rely on to judge ourselves is our actions.

The actions of Sandgoose show he is not worth our spit.

Yeah, so? We are diplomacy players, as you point out. He managed to worm his way into our hearts. But like I said, I don't believe he needs a shot at any games. Keep his point count at zero and just let him come to the window and chat. He would still be grounded from playing on the swings and slides of our playground.

What doea your name mean?
Some people have obvious references to historical or fictional characters, others are some form of their name (like mine, my name really is Phil) but for those with more cryptic names, I'm curious where they came from.

Some that I know from previous posts - draugnar is Tolkien elvish for some kind of wolf, Nigee is a name one of his friends used to call him, etc. But what about Bosox, mapu, sbyvyl, redhouse, abgemacht, etc. ?

The Most Conservative Contest
The question is: Who on the WebDip forums is the most Conservative? It shouldn't be too hard to figure out, as there are only a handful of Conservatives on this site (Krellin, Draug, ConservativeMan and myself come to mind). So in order to figure it out, we will post our positions on the issues here, and let the others decide.
