WW2 Variant (new thread) Preview ***
Here is the very very first version of my WW2 map to look at. I already posted a thread about this but basically the I just need some advice on the map. Is there anything that strikes you as obviously geographically or historically inaccurate at this stage? Before I go adding supply centres and things.

Israel needs no human rights review.
Unlike Syria and North Korea, which did in fact open up to criticism.

This is encouraging, Israeli citizens disgusted by their govts. treatment of the Palestinians.
If Jesus were alive today he would be on the side of the Palestinians which is ironic, but I'm sure the Israeli govt don't care because they have the anti-Jesus support from the USA and Europe, which is also pretty ironic as these countries would describe themselves as Christian.
Of course the Wests idea of Christianity is one that enslaves and subjugates other races and religions e.g. the Palestinians, not really Christian values at all.
God Bless America, who is Obama kidding? obviously God wouldn't bless America at all, this is total bullshit. He would condemn them and their allies for their brutal foreign policies.
If Jesus came back now what religion would he be proud of?
Not all of them. Only most of them.

I've been saying that for some time now--

The Israeli Govt. and its policies right now are a problem...
Hamas and its policies are a problem...

The actual civilian Israeli and Palestinians--

They're probably just average, nice people on the whole, each thinking the other side is out to get them because political and religious forces are driving this conflict.
TheMinisterOfWar (553 D)

Echo that. Although I'd add the settlers to the people who are also a problem. The settlers (and their political representation) is what is driving the Gov't to extremes. And when I was in Hebron, I didnt think they looked like the average Israeli you're describing above....

Apparently in bo_sox' heaven, there are race riots, ethnic cleansing is part of regular political discourse, discrimination and brutality against the aboriginal population is rampant, elevators don't work on Saturdays, the right to vote is entirely contingent on who your parents are and where you are born, and if you're not part of the right ethnic group armed thugs will steal your house at gunpoint in the middle of the night with impunity.

I don't think there are many who would call that heaven.

"Don't give up on Israel, they're not all religious lunatics"

Yeah, because, you know, the people surrounding Israel are, you know, calm, secular, peace-lovers who don't have a habit of firing rockets into neighboring countries just because they have a different word for "God".

I'm pro-Israel because the Israelis are the lesser of two evils and they occupy their current land fair and square.

They must explain why there are those UN resolutions that have been passed against the state of Israel but never enforced, because the fuckwits running the UN (financed by the US Govt) are being told by their paymasters that the land occupied by Israel was achieved fair and square, you're obviously someone who can bear to hear the words you've spoken twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools.

I agree, the only liberal democracy in the middle east needs to be slit in half and half of their land goes towards a Islamic religious theocracy, a type of government that this world has seen too few of in the past and present.

I advocate isolationist foreign policy as well. America does not need to be world referee/policeman.

Just saying I'm cheering for Israel. You can't help but cheer for them after 65 years of kicking asses and taking names, especially when they are opposed by Kalashnikov-toting barbarians.

Just imagine, if America and their allies spent the same amount of time and money investing in peace as they do investing in war ......... the defence industry would be on its knees and there would be millions of extra people unemployed.
I guess that's why they don't do it, capitalism loves war not peace, economic growth at ANY cost.

@ NigeeBaby

"Just imagine, if America and their allies spent the same amount of time and money investing in peace as they do investing in war ......... the defence industry would be on its knees and there would be millions of extra people unemployed."

Yeah. That's a bad thing. "Defense" and "War" are *not* the same thing. Deterrence works. No one fucks with the biggest kid on the block. You do not want Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, and Northrop Grumman to go out of business. The military-industrial complex are the good guys for the most part. Investing in peace is a waste of time and resources, and also jeopardizes national security. You were right about the unemployment part though.

@ Thucydides

How many countries hated us in 1880? Interventionism in recent years has been a dismal failure (especially in the case of Iraq) Nation building is not our national prerogative. If we intervene overseas, it had better be A) for a just cause (stopping communism, taking down asshole dictators who directly threaten America, etc.) and B) militarily possible. If some asshole dictator takes over Panama, Haiti, or Grenada, that's little more than a training exercise (albeit much riskier) for our guys. Occupying Iraq for ten years? Not such a good idea.

@ Fasces349

"I want to sign free trade agreements with every country in the world"

Yeah. Great idea. Let ourselves get under-cut (and therefore economically fucked) by every country with a lower cost of labor/capital. Fucking brilliant. What the fuck could possibly go wrong. I'm actually with the Democrats on this issue. We need to start making stuff here in America again (with a national right-to-work law, of course)

Do you also cheer for schoolyard bullies and mob bosses? Or is it just countries that kill and oppress people whom you consider to be racial/ethnic/religious undesirables?

@Gunfighter: Learn basic economics. The fact is we'll be better of because consumer prices will be lower which will increase the wealth of our people.

It will also increase encourage, which boosts GDP, and will make our ports far richer.

The fact of the matter is the economist and me agree that the most important economic policy a county can have is pro-trade. This is why I am against isolationism because free trade is nessacary for economic growth:

Let Me Ask the Question, Gun Owners and Advocates--Why?
Not wealthy should you be allowed to own guns--you should, the 2nd Amendment gives you that right--but why this is treated so often as the line in the sand...why, in short, do you seem value guns so highly as to seem to approach the point of fanatical worship (at least that's how it appears to some of us on the outside.) There is one answer I'm not buying (and I'll give it below) but aside from that...I have to know--why do value your guns seemingly first and foremost?

Diplomacy causes violence
It has just been reported that several recent stabbings in ******** were inspired by an online game called 'Diplomacy', which encourages players to 'stab' others as a major part of gameplay.
The perpetrators have denied any knowledge of the game, but mentioned the name 'Timur'. He has been tracked down to the Far East and is currently being hunted. (As usual. Never been caught yet :~)

So this catholic hospital due to malpractice saw twin boys get killed. The Father tried to sue and lost on the grounds that the fetuses were not considered life. Apparently the catholic church is pro-life only when it suits them.
