The actual result was so different from that predicted by the pollsters.
And yet the closer the media said the election was going to be the more money the candidates spent of advertising. Strange that.

51 States
I heard on the radio that there will be another non-binding vote in Puerto Rico to determine if they want to become a state. Other than the obvious problem of having a lot of out-dated flags, is there anyone who can tell me what the ramifications will be (for them as well as the current states)?

It's an Election Day Miracle
This is why we do this, folks. Miracles like this. A man dies, comes back to life, and his first question is, "Did I vote?"

Yay 2WL! Non-voting, completely fuck-this-shit buddies! WOOO!

Of course, I'm not voting for an entirely different reason, but hey, I probably wouldn't anyway. Lines at my polling place are 4 hours right now and Indiana doesn't matter.

Maybe in the next 2-300 years the USA may update their voting system so it becomes relevant to all Americans, not just people in swing states ...... is that way too radical, after all, it's not in the constitution so not sure that God would endorse it which could be a problem :-)
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Hang on... Your political system spends hundreds of millions on the campaigns but can't be arsed to spend the pittance needed to open enough voting booths to avoid long queues?

Your system is shite.

Regardless of political leanings, I think many will agree that our voting system could be tweaked: http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/05/opinion/frum-election-chaos/index.html?hpt=hp_t3_6

Vote for a 3rd party candidate as a protest vote. Unless your in one of the 11 'swing states', your vote doesn't matter so vote for a 3rd party candidate (doesn't have to be GJ) to show how much you hate the american system

Hey all you Obama supporters who are only voting for the lesser of two evils! Listen to Fasces! After all, if enough of you vote thrid party in a state that doesn't matter, Romney becomes more likely to get that state and it *could* matter after all!

@Fasces - dummest shit of this election is people saying "I'm not in a swing state so my vote doesn't count." If everyone one on the suppossed winning side thought that, the vote would swing to the other candidate.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
06 Nov 12 UTC
@Draugnar: Fine by me. If one of the 3rd party candidates wins a state, that would be great as it would probably encourage the government to get rid of the retarded electoral college.
dubmdell (556 D)
06 Nov 12 UTC
Draugnar, that mentality affects both sides. People who do not vote in non-swing states all use the same excuse, no matter who they /would/ vote for. Don't pretend it's just one side not voting. It's both sides.
Draugnar (0 DX)
06 Nov 12 UTC
But one of the thrid party candidates woiuldn't win because the presumptive winner's "supporters" would be split over which to choose meaning the other main candidate would get the win.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

I understand the OP made this in jest, but I hear a lot of people say they aren't going to vote because it doesn't matter or the system is broken. I often wonder: do these people realize that they aren't voting on a blank piece of paper that just says Obama or Romney?

There are a lot of other important things to vote on. State referendums, Congressmen (which often your vote *does* matter) and other important State matters. Sure, the Presidential vote may be fucked, but there are a lot of realistic ways to make change actually happen.
You dumbfucks are useless. You do realize that your ballot has more than just the Presidential election on it, right? All kinds of local races and ballot measures, most likely... But why would you actually care, right? It's way easier to just sit on your ass and do nothing. Go ahead, sign up for another diplomacy game. It's really important.

Neither candidate has proposed any sort of plan that would get me more +1s.
dubmdell (556 D)
06 Nov 12 UTC
Draugnar, that may be true in some counties, but I know a majority of persons I have met do not even look into what the third party candidates believe. There is no "should I, shouldn't I" difficulty in the polling booth for these individuals.

More to the point ("the other main candidate would get the win"), if /every/one would vote with the candidate most aligned to their views, the split would happen for the "winner" and "loser," and so you could not say who would get the most votes in that county (I refuse to generalize such a hypothetical to the state level).

Damn it, 2WL, I'm never going to catch up to you! 33.5% likes:posts?! WTF?! And here I thought my 21.7% was good....
Draugnar (0 DX)
06 Nov 12 UTC
@dubm - That is an invalid calculation. As long as a single post can get multiple +1s, then one could, *in theory*, get .0001% of his posts liked, but have a 110% likes per post. You just need one brilliant post,
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))

You just need to be ZaZaMaRaNDaBo. 75 likes for a single post.
redhouse1938 (429 D)
06 Nov 12 UTC
^I think a candidate like Romney would be very supportive of your +1s, 2WL, possibly recommending ways to store them in Switzerland, but a President like Obama would come up with a complicated scheme to regulate +1s and give yours to a man like Fasces, who really should just be putting in more hours. That said, I'd like to offer you the one straight-shooting way to get all the +1s in the world, so without further ado:

Bob Genghiskhan

Now we wait.

Correct Me If I'm Wrong, But...
…I don't think I am.

Wasn't it the Republican party that said that Hurricane Sandy was going to decide the election by stalling Obama's campaign? If that's the case, why are they so reasonably, so honestly switching sides to gain sympathy? I mean, they've never done that before….
