Marvel vs DC
Taking this from the Great Debate thread. So who do you guys like better? Any match ups you'd like to discuss or what not. I'm personally a Marvel fan because I feel they use more shades of grey in their writing and plotlines.

HONY
My new favorite Facebook feed. Basically, Humans of New York photographs a person on the sidewalk and posts a brief story about the encounter or the subject's story a few times each day. Mostly human interest stories, but interjected with humor, philosophy, and life observations.

Experienced players
Please consider signing up as a mentor for the SoW games. I can almost guarantee you have played with at least 1 graduate from these games. They help new players learn how to play and they help older players meet a new group of talented players. There is less work in mentoring then in playing an extra game, so please sign up if you can.

Selling Points made Legal

Diablo 3 has changed the way we play online games. You can actually make money by selling items, gold and in game materials at a small commission to the Site. Diplomacy should do this too, think how much money Splitdiplomat and Czech could make, it would be like they had jobs suddenly. This seems like a great Idea for up and comer players like Zmaj who will only keep playing in hopes of unlocking achievements or something. May as well let them make some cash instead.

screw the politics lets talk about food '¬'
All the forum topics are either related with politics and religion these days. So lets have a new taste! The question is:

What is the most delicious rare delicacy you have ever tasted?

My guess for most answers is some type of disgusting dead animal flesh.

or lets just narrow it down :P it deosnt have to be rare. But would be interesting if it is so : P Otherwise just share your favourite meal :D

Ihave a few favorties, and I am a good cook, so I will share.

first, I love Green beans cooked with almonds, lemons and garlic. Put a LITTLE butter over the top, and they are great, especially if just picked from the garden.

Lamb Chops are just about my favortie thing, but they are REALLY fatty, and I eat littel red meat now, but they taste great...lol

Trout, stuffed with red potatoes, garlic, and turkey bacon, onions, and then breaded lightly, and cooked ina nice olive oil are great.

I like to serve with a sweet potatoe, cut into small pieces, cooked in olive oil also, and then turn the heat off, add a little honey, and stir firiously, and serve. hell ya.
Stressedlines: That all sounds delicious. Especially the first one.

I like to stir fry. Broccoli, carrots, garlic, tempeh, kale, peppers, onion, with whatever type of gluten-free sauce I'm in the mood for. Throw it on some long grain brown rice and you've got a pretty awesome meal.

For bonus nutrition, steam the vegetables instead of frying.

Well, I use Olive oil for a reason. I do steam also, but you said most tasty..lol

Olive Oil is 100% the best oil to use though. extra Virgin.

Ok last night I made "peaches and cream" bread in my breadmaker, which was amazing toasted with butter and raspberry jam. And last weekend I smoked boneless pork ribs that I had rubbed with Montreal Steak Seasoning. I used apple wood chips, and a half-hour before the meat was done I glazed the ribs with honey. After they were done cooking and had sat a while, I chopped them into bite-sized pieces and put most of them in a honey barbecue sauce but left others that way for people to sample. Delicious!

And boneless ribs are very inexpensive--$2-something a pound. But the red meat thing is once a week or less.
What say you about grapeseed oil? It has a slightly higher smoke point than olive oil I think?

Here's another fatty treat: inexpensive brie on a country Italian bread made with your favorite Italian seasonings. The other day I made some in the breadmaker. I used about a half-cup of rye flour along with some whole wheat and some bread flour, based on a recipe I found somewhere.

I will have to check it out I have heardof it, but I have never seen it on the shelves.

Again, I use LITTLE olive oil regardless, as much of my meats are raised on my own land (as is 99% of all my food) or caught (trout, I am a excellent trout fisherman, and fill my freezer anually) .

Example my burger is 97% fat free. I must add oil or it burns on the bottom.

@SL - I was always taught Extra Virgin burns too easilyband should only be used for dressings. Use regular olive oil for stir frying.

For my daughters birthday tomorrow, I just popped the cheesecake into the oven, and will make fresh rasberry topping tomorrow. For dinner she has requested chicken parmesan....the chicken is already pounded and ready to go as soon as we get home from work. Rare delicacy? No....but certainly a delicious choice of meals, and I am a fantastic cheesecake maker...

I don't think they're rare delicacies but macarons are delicious! Especially the coffee and caramel varieties from Ladurée.
Lobster Thermador, absolutely that best single meal I've ever eaten.

although there is a little French restaurant in the next town over that does meals that you would never have thought of, but are absolutely great.

The example that comes to mind is a cold spicy gaspacco (sp?) with watermelon, or the endive and butternut squash salad. I go in just assuming that there is nothing that he'll put on the plate that will be bad. Yeah escargot too. :-)

Moussette - young/'soft' shelled spider crab only sold for a short time at this time of year (well that's true in this part of Normandie). Simply need some good mayonnaise (home made with olive oil) and lemon. Mustn't forget the fresh bread - preferably a good pain de campagne well cooked to give that wonderful caramelised crust!
Well, I have a rare delicacy, but its not necessarily delicious haha. I tried frog legs on the cruise I just went on. I can't say it was an enjoyable experience though haha
SacredDigits (102 D)

Frog legs are about as much of a delicacy as chicken wings in most parts of the world, somehow Americans were tricked into thinking they're higher class than they are.

I love Japanese udon soup, and there's a place near my parents' house that makes an African peanut soup that's fantastic. I've had shark fin soup, I wasn't that impressed for the price they charge you for it. I've had a number of exotic and/or game animals, too...probably the most interesting thing I ever had to eat, though, was at a monastery in Japan where the monks only eat tofu but prepare it in hundreds of different ways. They sell a box lunch of 20 different preparations of tofu, and each one of them was unique and at least six or seven were delicious (and I normally don't like tofu much).

blah, Frog legs are great. We go 'Frog Gigging' here in East Tennessee a lot.

I have filled up an entire bag of them in a 5 hour night, if you catch the weather right.

However, chicken legs are easier to attain...lol

Venison... Yum! I also like veal really well, especially fixed in various italian sauces (veal piccata being the best).
I had rabbit once that would absolutely melt in your mouth, I suspect it had a lot to do with the Chef's skill though.

Yes, Rabbit raised in a cage is much different than the stuff our beagules flush from the brush here.

The caged stuff is WAY WAY better...lol

I'm a vegetarian, which does not go well with Swedish cuisine unfortunately, but I love delicious Indian food. My best meal was probably when i visited Syria and me and my friends went to the most expensive restuarant in Damascus (where a meal cost about $20. Outrageous, right?) Endless plates with hummus variants, dolmas, vegetable mixes etc. And the falafel in Damascus was divine.

Suspected multi-account in live game
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=90854

The game is anonymous and in progress now. Austria and Italy both looked like they were going to fail to submit orders in Spring 1901. Since then, Austria has been freely ceding his home supply centers to Italy and writing unlikely support orders.

Diplomacy as a learning tool?
So without being too specific, I teach an international relations course at a university. Since the last week will mostly be consumed with students writing their final papers and my class is oddly small (6 students), I'm thinking about playing a game of diplomacy with them in the last couple days.

Christians vs Atheists
Seeing as there is normally at least one of these debate threads a week, I thought I would just set this here and see if there is in fact any middle ground to be had. -> http://www.cracked.com/article_15759_10-things-christians-atheists-can-and-must-agree-on.html

Atheists, what do you think? Christians, how about you?
