Do you own a boardgame copy of Diplomacy?
As there have been some IP questions about WebDip recently, I thought it might be useful to have a survey of how many of us own a cardboard version of the game. If enough of us own the game, it might convince Big H lawyers (may they never come knocking) that WebDip is not really hurting sales of the game.

Rules question
If a fleet in Edinburgh is support holding a fleet in the Norwegian Sea, and the fleet in the Norwegian Sea is moving to Norway (to counter a possible move to norway) and the fleet in the Norwegian Sea 1) is bounced out of Norway while 2) a fleet attacks the Norwegian Sea with one other supporting unit, will the fleet in Norwegian Sea be dislodged or not? It's 2 vs. 2 in Norwegian Sea, but the fleet there has a move order, which cannot be executed.

Think it was dumber than the killing of Osama for the provisional government, but it seems to be gaining positive reactions in the Arab world. Im sure the US government isn't broken up that he is silenced.

Execution of war prisoners is by any definition a war crime, and anti-gaddafi forces are doing exactly that. Looting, pillaging, killing opposition...that is no way to build new society. That is sure way to new deaths, revenge, and probably guerrilla war. Maybe NATO should start bombarding anti-gadaffi forces now, because they are breaking the international law.
well to be fair he wasnt a prisoner according to official accounts, he ran.
actually latest reports seem to indicate he surrendered and then killed, we'll see what comes out

@dejan

dont be sooo naive

grow up

they were always gona kill him. the reason saddam and milosevic went to "trial" was that they were captured by NATO/Americans- no hatred by people that they oppressed for ages, no revenge seekers or glory hunters
Dejan0707 (1608 D)
20 Oct 11 UTC
Yea right. First news was from opposition General who gave interview that Gaddafi was taken prisoner and executed with 9mm pistol. They taken close from dead body hit it with shoes and drag to the streets. This is barbaric revenge, not justice.
Dejan0707 (1608 D)
20 Oct 11 UTC
dr. rush I am full grown man, and I lived throughout the war, while you watch it on TV. My home city was under siege for 2 years. I am not naive. I know what the war is.

"Oppressed".

NATO and their Al Qaeda lackeys are murderers and assassins. He surrendered and they shot him in the head. It disgusts me that the western media is gloating over this murder. Gaddafi was a hero to many and the resistance will only continue to these murderous bandits from the so-called "NTC".

The murderers of Gaddafi and destroyers of the Libyan state should rot in hell.

War is a video game to people on this forum. They cheerlead and gloat about war and could care less about the human consequences.
The Situation (100 D)

Don't categorize all of the forum. There are a select few who don't belong under your description. I, for one, was practically socially crucified in my community for criticizing those who rejoiced when Osama died.
Putin33 (111 D)

Sorry, yes, many people on this forum. Not all. Certainly not you or Dejan.

I think it's kind of sick to celebrate anyone's death, really. No matter how much bad they did while they were alive, they're still human.
The Situation (100 D)

Not kind of sick. Just sick.
Who exactly has rejoiced in this thread? The response has been rather tepid.
Putin33 (111 D)

Not in this thread, but the media and our glorious political class sure as hell is.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Actually, I think this is an excellent example of Putin ignoring everything that was said before him, making blanket statements about people, and then denouncing them for views they don't hold.

Not a single person in this thread was rejoicing about Gaddafi's death, so what are you bitching about, Putin?
The Situation (100 D)
20 Oct 11 UTC
@abge, if you read Putin's first post, he actually was referring to the western media, not people in this thread.

As for his later posts, he referred the people in the forum, not the thread. Perhaps YOU

"War is a video game to people on this forum. They cheerlead and gloat about war and could care less about the human consequences."

I stand by my statement. No where in this thread has anyone rejoiced at Gaddafi's death and every thread about this topic, there are always a number of people who aren't happy about how the US handles the situation, so what is he saying this for?
It was clearly directed to people on the forum and the response in this thread.

In fact, when Osama was executed, this was the *only* forum on the internet I found that voiced objections. Every other site that has this many Americans were going fucking nuts with patriotism.
Putin33 (111 D)

There is a group of people around here who are reflexively pro-war and who have supported the attacks on Libya and glorified the Al Qaeda-led uprising, and have celebrated assassinations in the past.

My reaction was to Dr. Rush saying that someone who lived through a terrible war was "naive" and needed to "grow up".
SacredDigits (102 D)
20 Oct 11 UTC
I stopped listening to my regular radio station this morning because I was offended at the way the DJ's were reporting the news (it's largely a music station, but they announce news items too). At that point, the only information was that Gaddafi had been captured. And they traded jokes about what one question they'd want to ask him before he was killed, as if that's funny to any degree.

I've seen human beings die. Not in a war, granted, but I've seen bodies dead of exposure, of allergic reactions, of diseases, of overdoses, and a lot of them people I didn't know personally. Every dead body I've seen and especially everyone I've seen die, a piece of me dies with them. Because I always think, "Maybe I could have prevented that." I find making jokes about ANYONE'S death in the worst possible taste.
Putin33 (111 D)

I self-criticize for not adding the word "certain", as in "certain people".

"There is a group of people around here who are reflexively pro-war and who have supported the attacks on Libya and glorified the Al Qaeda-led uprising, and have celebrated assassinations in the past."

I won't disagree with you there. So, perhaps in the future, you should just say this, rather than condemning the 100+ people who visit this forum.
Putin33 (111 D)

Dude, I self-criticized twice. Can't you take "I agree" for an answer?
