Sitter Needed
I'm very new to this so I was foolish enough to sign up for games despite taking vacations this summer. I'm going to be gone from Sunday to Thursday and I'm not sure if I can get a pause in all of my games so if someone would be willing to submit moves for me (or at least a move so I don't CD) I would be very grateful. Reply and I'll PM you my password.

Sorry about this, I'll be more careful signing up for games in the future.

And The Good Is Oft Interred With His Bones...Lest Ye A Weed Smoker Be! (Wait, WHAT?)
http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/06/23/did-shakespeare-smoke-weed/ Me being me, I had to post this. I mean, what phrase marks his tomb? "Good frend for Jesus sake forebeare,/ To digg the dust encloased heare;/ Bleste be the man that spares thes stones,/ And curst be he that moves my bones." Just ask Macbeth and Caesar about Shakespeare's curses...anyone REALLY want to take that chance? ;) (And for what? To see if he smoked weed? Let the rest be silence, PLEASE!)

Time Limit
Is there a way to make a game with a time limit either in game years (ie 1913) or a real date (ie 7/13/11 at midnight)?

Besides the interest as a variant it would make it easier to avoid NMRs by having the game end before a trip

Not Voting Pause If It Means The Win
Playing at Boston made me realise how many outside factors there are to the original game. There are many other ways to lie, decieve, and trick. There are some here too that get utilised, like waiting until the last second to enter orders so your opponent makes moves against an NMR that fail. But what about NOT pausing?

If England and France fought, Turkey could solo.

If Turkey stabbed Italy, he still couldn't get a solo, so why bother?
Scmoo472 (1933 D)
13 Jun 11 UTC
England and I (France) knew that once the stalemate line was set up. If we fought. Turkey wins. Turkey stabs Italy, we would have to hit Turkey and Italy at the same time. But Turkey knew that as well, so I think everyone was afraid of moving.

Managed to win.. Germany actually agreed to make it an 18/16 win for himself, but I managed to pull it back with a spring/fall combo breaker.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

You can't really take much credit for that since Austria, Turkey, and Russia went CD and Italy played very poorly.

The 2nd game Austria and Turkey were there. Germany got all the free centers. France, England and Russia went CD.

i guess the point of this thread is discuss diplomacy game
most of the threads are bout other thinks like obama and other american stuf

No no, I get that, but... I don't see what's so special about these games ;>_>

so why not post about games you have had.. i have yet to see a post for discussions of games.. below this. "The Greatest Literary Work in Science Fiction" If I am looking for tips for this game.. I am pretty sure Literature based on Scientific Fictions will not help me.

I'm not sure why you guys are being such jerks. This is a site for diplomacy, so I'm not sure why the OP needs to justify a thread about diplomacy, especially when you compare it to the other nonsense that goes on around here.
Geofram (130 D(B))
15 Jun 11 UTC
I agree. Scmoo came here with some pride that the game had ended and likely wanted to see if other members in the game wanted to have some EOG discussion, instead its a bunch of idiots spamming.

Scmoo, in the second game you linked, how in the world did you convince Germany not to move for two whole years and to not even put himself in a position to take one center from you in case you stabbed?

Also, that would have never worked in WTA. =P
if you're looking for tips for this game, I'm also pretty sure not mentioning anything about tips at all until just now would not help, either. The only ostensible purpose of the thread seemed to be calling attention to these games... hence, the question of what's so special about them. If you're looking for praise, congrats on winning a game and drawing a game. If you're looking for advice, specify with regard to what so someone can help.

I'm not quite sure how to get the game ID like to show up but I have an interesting scenario..... I was playing my first diplomacy game EVER and I get Italy. So I'm sitting at my computer not even knowing how to use supports or anything and I win the solo! And I didn't even know what the heck I was doing. I wasnt allies with anyone and I had absolutely strategy. How did I do it!?!?!? If you want to see the game go to this adress. http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=50101#gamePanel

We had an agreement with Austria for a 3 way draw, and then Austria CD'd so I offered to let him have 18 and I would take 16, and he trusted me, but I hid behind a plan to take Marseilles and Sev on the spring and hold for the Fall. Worked out..
Yeah, abge, this is apparently just meant to be a "brag about your not-very-special games" thread, so I reserve my right to be a jerk. =P

Dpromer.. I like the ironic part that France (The guy that you didn't attack and didn't attack you) is named hpromer.. That isn't suspicious at all..
Geofram (130 D(B))
15 Jun 11 UTC
That is not irony.

But after looking at some of the also anonymous games they've both been in, there might be a little bit of metagaming going on. Unfortunately, this game was gunboat, so any cooperation automatically has an air of suspicion surrounding it.

Dpromer, do you know hpromer?
Glad I'm not the only one who thought that looked a bit sketch.

Also, if you didn't know how to use supports, how come so many of your orders were supports...?

Sitter or Pause needed
I will be going away tonight on an unexpected work trip and will return on Sunday night. I will have no access to internet whatsoever where I am going so I will be unable to log in any moves. If someone can sit for me it would be great, I have a few gunboat games going on. I would ask that whomever sits for me winds the clock down every turn so I do not miss that many moves. Thanks.
