Introducing a new player
I'd like to introduce a new player, and set up an introductory game.
A friend of mine (userID=35791) has recently started playing on webdiplomacy. I played him once before in FTF, and he appears to be quite talented.

Until now he has been playing beginner's games (and winning them). I would like to introduce him to the better players on this site.

Would anyone like to play a game with him? I can guarantee he will be chatty, polite, and not miss any moves.
How soon are we talking? I owe you a game as it is, and meeting another quality player for a good game is always desirable.

Why don't you reveal his identity?
Do so so that I can exterminate and annihilate him.

There is a live game set up right now I do believe, he could join that.
lol, hellalt

Scmoo I think he's looking for a non-live game.

Why not? Live games give a true interacting between players, as the game can turn in the course of 5 or so minutes. Makes players go with their gut instinct, which is normally either right, or wrong, but have a minimal chance of getting back what they lost in doing it. Personally it is far easier to play a live game too, because you can evaluate your enemy or ally on how they talk, and how long it takes to write.
The longer-phase games give more time for tactical and strategic planning, though, as well as establishing diplomatic communications with significantly more depth than a live game. I love live games for the fact that everything gets played out in one nice 2-3 hour block of time, but the longer phases have their merits, too.

I am down for a longer game though. Fighting these 5 bid live games isn't helping me too much. >.>
Then step it up to a 30-bid game. ;)

I would certainly enjoy a game with talented players. I too am fairly new on the site and my only game of great interest had to be drawn early on because a player had to quit. The size of the stakes is not important (obviously I don't have our President's means, but I just mean to say that this is not what I'm after).
@President Eden: Thank you for showing interest. I'm not sure whether I will play in the game myself. I mean, he IS a friend of mine, and I don't want to be accused of meta-gaming. But if we make it non-anon, it should be okay. I won't be able to play until two weeks from now.
@Hellalt: Because I want to do the extermination myself.
@Scmoo: We're definitely looking for non-live. In my opinion, a real game is a full press WTA with 36-48 hours phases. Anyway, happy to have you.
@ Cachimbo: Glad to see you're interested as well. Stakes shouldn't be too high. I was thiking 50 D.

I'd be interested, as long as it's anonymous, wta and at least 36 hour phases, preferably 48.
I'm not concerned about you metagaming, bas. ;)
Right now we have: LvdKrogt, Pres. Eden, Scmoo, Cachimbo, ☺, and maybe myself.

So we need one or two additional players. Anyone?

I'll play
That's awesome.

I'm going on a vacation next Monday, which lasts two weeks. If you manage to find a 7th player before I return, just go ahead and start. If you don't find anyone, we'll start in two weeks.

Sitter Needed
I'm very new to this so I was foolish enough to sign up for games despite taking vacations this summer. I'm going to be gone from Sunday to Thursday and I'm not sure if I can get a pause in all of my games so if someone would be willing to submit moves for me (or at least a move so I don't CD) I would be very grateful. Reply and I'll PM you my password.

Sorry about this, I'll be more careful signing up for games in the future.

And The Good Is Oft Interred With His Bones...Lest Ye A Weed Smoker Be! (Wait, WHAT?)
http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/06/23/did-shakespeare-smoke-weed/ Me being me, I had to post this. I mean, what phrase marks his tomb? "Good frend for Jesus sake forebeare,/ To digg the dust encloased heare;/ Bleste be the man that spares thes stones,/ And curst be he that moves my bones." Just ask Macbeth and Caesar about Shakespeare's curses...anyone REALLY want to take that chance? ;) (And for what? To see if he smoked weed? Let the rest be silence, PLEASE!)

Time Limit
Is there a way to make a game with a time limit either in game years (ie 1913) or a real date (ie 7/13/11 at midnight)?

Besides the interest as a variant it would make it easier to avoid NMRs by having the game end before a trip

Not Voting Pause If It Means The Win
Playing at Boston made me realise how many outside factors there are to the original game. There are many other ways to lie, decieve, and trick. There are some here too that get utilised, like waiting until the last second to enter orders so your opponent makes moves against an NMR that fail. But what about NOT pausing?

Sitter or Pause needed
I will be going away tonight on an unexpected work trip and will return on Sunday night. I will have no access to internet whatsoever where I am going so I will be unable to log in any moves. If someone can sit for me it would be great, I have a few gunboat games going on. I would ask that whomever sits for me winds the clock down every turn so I do not miss that many moves. Thanks.
