Portuguese speaking players
I was wondering how many Portuguese speaking players are in here. Would like to create a game spoken in Portuguese if there are enough players and enough interest.

It will be a game with England/France, Russia/Turkey, and Austria/Germany/Italy alliances. Whichever alliance wins splits the pot.

24 hour phases
50 point bet

Anyone interested?

This was originally Sgt_Sherm's idea but he hasn't logged on since the end of last month. This is how the last game went:

Here is the game ID:

http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=13629

Basically, the rules are:

*You and your ally must work together to defeat your enemies.

*You can't attack your ally, unless you give him/her permission to seize one of oyur centers.

*You cannot form an alliance with any other alliance to defeat another. It's only you and your ally(ies) to look after each other.

That's pretty much it.
StevenC. (1047 D(B))

Ugh. Horrible typo on that second rule. What I meant was:

"You can't attack your ally unless he/she gives you permission to to seize one his/her centers."

So, there's no negotiation between the different alliances? Such as R/T dealing with F/E to crush the middle three?
Centurian (3257 D)
22 Sep 09 UTC
This variant has been tried before. In general it seems that the winning alliance is decided entirely by how the central powers decide to defend. If they throw more east, then E/F wins, more west and the R/T wins.

Groverloaf,

Yes. No alliance with another group.

Yea and i saw the first try at that and Germany seemed screwed right at the begining.............Germany and France attack each other right at the begining

Other possible arrangements can be:

*E/F/G vs R/A vs I/T
*E/F vs R/G/A vs I/T
*E/F/I vs R/G vs A/T

Just some thought....

I would like some more obscure alliances

Well I think center doesn't stand a chance and France and England really need to getting working to stop a juggernaut that has the advantage of a center being presse from both sides

A nice game would be with FA alliance REI and GT
these games would be really interesting because alliances wouldn't be able to pressfrom one direction right away

StevenC. (1047 D(B))

I think that Germany would still die pretty quickly in that scenario, denis.

England is kinda screwed..whenever Russia and France ally it usually means trouble for england............and then Turkey would be boned by Austria and Italy and Russia

How do you expect a E/T alliance to work when they are ages away from each other and they wouldn't be able to support each other?

Sardinia and Corsica
Has anyone else noticed that Corsica is colored green for Italy while Sardinia is left as the neutral salmon color? This strikes me as being incorrect since the Kingdom of Italy definitely included Sardinia while Corsica was under France during this time period. Was this error part of the original board game?

Does poor spelling matter? Discuss
Someone spells caricatures incorrectly and it starts a debate. Should it? Should people pick others up on poor spelling when it is clear what the word should be? Is poor spelling a sign of low intelligence?

Another feature on the Korean site....
I wonder when this will be adopted here; in the 'Orders' that you can review after a turn, it notes when an order fails by underlining it and writing 'failed', such as: (Note this is a new map)

# The fleet at Gulf of Pelusium move to Alexandria. (failed)
