Strategy
Okay say you are turkey. You've tried to gain an alliance with russia but get no response. Austria snubs you as well. Obviously you're screwed because they're coming after you. What can you do, or is it just a lost cause?

Game "Econ"
Dear Moderator:

I got a notification that this game was "winner takes all." But, when I joined, and as it still states, this was a "points per supply center game." Please adjust. Thanks.

I just thought it was about the parking lot at first.

I doubt it's anything as exciting as a massive round-up of dissidents. Anyway, as South Park said, things have changed!
Sicarius (673 D)
10 Nov 08 UTC
I didnt say there was anyone in them. yet.

have you heard of operation garden plot?
Sicarius (673 D)
10 Nov 08 UTC
or operation urban warrior?
Invictus (240 D)
10 Nov 08 UTC
Now I have. I don't think it's too sinister for the government to have a plan for dealing with widespread civil unrest.
Sicarius (673 D)
10 Nov 08 UTC
this is not sinister?

Operation Garden Plot defines tax protesters, militia groups, religious cults, and general anti-government dissenters as Disruptive Elements. This calls for the deadly force to be used against any extremist or dissident perpetrating any and all forms of civil disorder.
Sicarius (673 D)
10 Nov 08 UTC
so if you have a my taxes are too high sit in, and they pop you in the head, well they've been planning it for awhile
Invictus (240 D)
10 Nov 08 UTC
Yeah. I want the army to come in if the police can't stop a bunch of rioters from stealing TVs. Would you rather people be flipping cars and burning businesses than a restoration of order?
Invictus (240 D)
10 Nov 08 UTC
They're not going to send the army in after a sit-in.

I know you're out of the mainstream because of your lifestyle, but you can't honestly believe that. Are you out of worms yet for all that fishing?

Sicarius (673 D)

"any and all forms of civil disorder"

the probability of it happening is low I admit
but doesnt it tickle you a bit that this is written into law. wordings a little.... you know

Equipped with flexible "military operations in urban terrain" and "operations other than war" doctrine, lethal and "less-than-lethal" high-tech weaponry, US "armed forces" and "elite" militarized police units are being trained to eradicate "disorder", "disturbance" and "civil disobedience" in America. Further, it may very well be that police/military "civil disturbance" planning is the animating force and the overarching logic behind the incredible nationwide growth of police paramilitary units, a growth which coincidentally mirrors rising levels of police violence directed at the American people, particularly "non-white" poor and working people.
Sicarius (673 D)
10 Nov 08 UTC
Ominously, many assume that the training of military and police forces to suppress "outlawed" behavior of citizens, along with the creation of extensive and sophisticated "emergency" social response networks set to spring into action in the event of "civil unrest", is prudent and acceptable in a democracy. And yet, does not this assumption beg the question as to what civil unrest is? One could argue for example, that civil disturbance is nothing less than democracy in action, a message to the powers-that-be that the people want change. In this instance "disturbing behavior" may actually be the exercising of ones' right to resist oppression. Unfortunately, the American corporate/military directorship, which has the power to enforce its' definition of "disorder", sees democracy as a threat and permanent counter-revolution as a "national security" requirement.
Invictus (240 D)
10 Nov 08 UTC
Hm. The UN personnel part is a little disturbing. How ever, it's written "personal," which is a different word that doesn't make sense there. That leads me to think that this has been tweaked by the guy who put up the website to prove his point.

Even if it's just a typo, the intent of this is obviously to keep order after a nuclear attack, and the likely collapse of society thereafter. If ever we should bend the rules that would be the time.

Why are all CivilDisorderAustria 's replaced by the name CivilDisorderGermany? Is there some logic behind or is it just a bug.

And therefore another question: Why is there no link on the helpsite to report bugs of this kind?

Neutrals Variant
I was looking at the map, and noticed that the Scandinavian countries add up to what would be a full playable country. The Balkans would be equal to Russia. What would a game look like if these new countries were added, maybe even with a Belgium-Holland and Spain-Portugal-perhaps Tunis thrown in as well?
