Jun 2015 GR Challenge - Game 1 EOGs

Result: Two-way draw between England and Turkey (my first two-way draw!)

This was honestly a pretty cut-and-dry game for me. I can almost never say, but aside from small details, I wasn’t really once surprised by anything that happened in this game. I had fun, though, mostly because Austria-Turkey and England-Turkey are both fun alliances. EOG below.

Reliability Ratings and drop outs
We all have games where players losing drop out, but there are some which get utterly ruined by guys in pivotal positions going AWOL. Is it time that players who are proven unreliable have to sit out for a period?

Hello webDip!
I hail from your sister site, vDip, where I run under the handle TheatreVarus.
We are severely starved for players at the moment, and were hoping some of you could join up.
We have many available variants, including my current favorite, Viking Diplomacy.

That is www.vdiplomacy.com - I am playing several games on both sites and have to say there are some really awesome variants on vDip, as well as a couple of nice additional site features (but which I think webDip will get eventually too). My favourite variant is Anarchy in the UK (so far), but I've just started scratching the surface of them. They range from 2 to 34 players and include a couple that are totally balanced (Chromatic) to unusually balanced (843: Treaty of Vergun), plus lots of weird classic map variations. I'm finishing up my last games on Backstabbr and PlayDip now to play just on WebDip and vDip.

On a serious note though, Vdip is awesome for variants, and we have a good relationship with our sister site, so please feel free to look. If you join their 1 on 1 tournament, I guarantee you will do almost as well as 2ndWhiteLine right away!

@ND - the user base is a bit smaller and the forum is pretty much used exclusively for game content. But there are enough ex-webdippers over there to keep things lively enough

Making a variant isn't all that difficult if you have some time.

Making a variant balanced enough for here, on the other hand, is not easy at all. We don't dedicate this site to variants, either, as there's a sister site that does that far better.

It looks like webDip is bigger on gambling. Why are all the game wagers on vDip so low? Shouldn't they be around 10x what we see on here?

I think because the main score (vPoints, you start at 1000) you see for users on vDip is a ranking based on your results and the rankings of your opponents, rather than your "gambling" points. The points are just used to control how many games you can join, so if you bet too much, you can join fewer...

There are two point systems on Vdip. D-points are based on bets. V-points which are (supposedly) based on skill. You get 100 D-points, and 1000 V-points.when you join.

If a country has to disband a unit during the build phase and doesn't turn in orders, how does the server decide which unit to disband for the player?

Tips for World Diplomacy
I have played 50+ games on the World Diplomacy variant, but I have not soloed. Honestly, it seems like you can see a powerhouse coming so far back, it is impossible to not get faced with a stalemate line!

EXACTLY when does a game end?
In my set of rules, rule XIII indicates that possession of a SC only occurs after fall retreats have been completed. On this site, it seems that for purposes of determining a solo victory, a victory is declared following the fall diplomacy phase prior to retreats. For clarification: on a fall turn that great power A takes its 18th SC but great power B could then retreat into into one of country A's SCs, is country A awarded a win prior to that fall's retreats? Thank you.

Where do I post suggestions?
Am I the only person that doesn't understand why they page layout is so narrow? there is significant space in the right and left margins for order information, game state information, and everything you need at a single glance, instead of all the scrolling i have to do. the layout is especially important because the page has to be refreshed constantly.

Suggestion
This website should have statistics for each country of each map (wins, draws, losses, etc.) like vdiplomacy.

I know this is a feature request and I'm supposed to check the todo list, but the forum that the "todo list" link directs to doesn't seem to have been used since last year, and I can't seem to find the actual list anywhere.
