The poop floor
As I was cleaning my litterbox, I discovered I sat in a pile of cat shit. I got it all over my shorts. When I checked if it did happen, I got it all over my hands. I've washed them 3 times and they still smell like cat shit.

Please advise.

french speaking replacement needed
as i will be absent for the next week and the last week of june and i'm only in one active game, i thought that i might as well look for a replacement player. it's a "speak french only" game though, so you'd have to understand at least a little bit of french.

So, my brother was there at the SPU school shooting today. Quite literally there... Scared the shit out of me when he wouldn't answer his freaking phone. Either way he's a-ok and that's what matters. My home also got broken into last night.... It's time to get a gun. For those that have one, suggestions?

In non winner-take-all game, can you solo with less than ALL the centers?
I want the solo win (and will have a majority of SCs soon). if I accept the draw once i get the majority, doesnt that mean i lose my solo? But do i really need to hold every single center to get the solo? How do you 'resign' ...so my opponents don't have to sit through the process that could take years?

I really enjoyed the one I participated in and would be up for doing it again if you are looking for folks, but since I was in the SoW Study Group earlier this year, others who haven't done it ought to get priority.
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))

What was the SoW study group? I recognized some stronger players there than I would have expected to be in the SoW.
RAZ000 (272 D(G))
29 May 14 UTC
The SoW Study Group was supposed to be SoW TA level players against each other without TAs. Commentary was provided each round just like in a standard SoW. Not all of the players have submitted an EoG for that Study game yet (myself included).
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))
29 May 14 UTC
Ah, well I think EoG's for that game are pretty much over. It looked like a really good game. I haven't taken the time to read the commentary.

Tru, if you want to put together another study group, I'd be down for a game (provided it didn't start for a couple of weeks).

I'll say it was very revealing for the flaws in my game. Not that I've managed to correct them yet, but at least I know when and where my Stupid Gene is going to kick in.

I'm not TA level either but joined in to help the game get rolling. The original idea was for it to be a TA level, but didn't have enough TA talent sign up. From what I understand.

What do SoW, EoG, and TA level stand for?
what is the requirement for ta level nowadays?
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)

SoW: School of War- it's a learning game with students assigned "Teaching Assistants" (TAs), who are experienced players assigned to each country to help them with their press and moves. Additionally, commentary is provided by "professors" (typically high level players) who comment on the overall board position, but do not have access to any press.

EoG: End of Game- a write-up from each student at the end of the game, covering thoughts/secrets/any extra commentary.
@RotK: SoW = School of War (I think) it is essentially a full press game where 7 new or less experienced players or just players who want to learn more about the game get put into a game where they are then given a TA to guide them through the game. Also on the Forum after each phase 'Experts/Professors' (top tier players) comment on the phase and give a detailed analysis on what they made of the move set.
TA: Teaching Assistant, this is an experienced player generally with stats to back this up (ie more than 60% win/draw percentage in there games). One TA is given to each of the players in the SoW game and contacts them and advises them on press (talking to other players, what to look out for in messages etc) and also on moves to make (common openings) and helps them analyse what the board can tell you.
EoG: End of Game, this is a detailed description on what each of the players was really thinking throughout the game (eg. 1901 England opened into the channel like I suggested to him which ment I was able to get France to work with me against England and get belgium in the fall -Germany 1901 Fall)
wooops.... well at least they now know twice

Whether there's a TA or lower level depends on the supply and demand.

Lets get a roster started. For the TA game, we need 7 players with a GR below 200. Traditionally that's the requirement to be a TA. The lower limit as a TA is usually 50 GR ranking.

I will professor any games that get off the ground although 2 profs are needed.

Lower level games require 7 players with GRs beyond 200. I give precedence to players that have played through several games to avoid CDs and NMRs. This is a high-profile game and we bar anyone from taking part that has excessive CDs or that has quit a SoW in the past. The lower level games also require 7 TAs for the 7 players. This is probably the MOST demanding position because TAs have to constantly keep in touch with their assigned player.

If we have the spots that can be filled, we can get games off the ground. It usually takes a week to ten days to fill a game and we rarely get more than two games off the ground. I prefer one game, tbh, because two games usually requires some TAs acting in two games which makes it difficult.

Post interest below. This is NOT a first-come first-serve game at the lower level, although for the TA games, it tends to be since the qualifications as a TA are rigorous enough that these players have a track-record of reliability.

I will select lower-level players based on their reliability, GR and games played. I will allow through the weekend for sign-ups.

Please refrain from PMing me sign-up requests, and post your desire here.

Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))

Yes. TAs need to have a low ranking (technically a high GR), although when people talk about GR, they are often referencing the ranking. Sorry for the confusion.

Ethics of Diplomacy
So in general, I suppose most people here would say you can, and, possibly, should do anything within the rules to increase their chance at winning.

How about, for example, pretending to be terminal, though? Is that still fine?
