The poop floor
As I was cleaning my litterbox, I discovered I sat in a pile of cat shit. I got it all over my shorts. When I checked if it did happen, I got it all over my hands. I've washed them 3 times and they still smell like cat shit.

Please advise.

french speaking replacement needed
as i will be absent for the next week and the last week of june and i'm only in one active game, i thought that i might as well look for a replacement player. it's a "speak french only" game though, so you'd have to understand at least a little bit of french.

Shootings and break-ins
So, my brother was there at the SPU school shooting today. Quite literally there... Scared the shit out of me when he wouldn't answer his freaking phone. Either way he's a-ok and that's what matters. My home also got broken into last night.... It's time to get a gun. For those that have one, suggestions?

UKIP - killing the Tories since 2010
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/politics/
Did I mention that UKIP were the right wing of the Conservative Party in the UK and were stealing votes from them left, right & centre.
Apparently it was true ...... check out those badboy results !!

Over 10% and 3 or more seat? Fair enough, I can take that bet. They may well take 3 seats, but they won't get 10%.

What progress is Ed making as a leader? His impact on the Swindon council elections was a direct cause of the Tories increasing their majority. The people simply aren't taking to him, and don't see him as a leader. In many ways it's a similar problem to Gordan Brown, but at least Gordan carried a certain gravitas even though he wasn't all that likeable. Don't get me wrong, I think he's actually a decent chap, but I would hate to be a Labour supporter looking to him for inspiration.

Newark is an interesting one. By-elections are extremely difficult to predict, especially after the recent wave of UKIP publicity. It could be that the voters decide to give the Tories a bit of a kicking, especially because their last Tory turned out to be an arse, but...

I reckon the Tories will win with around 20,000 votes. Labour may claw their way up to 15,000 if they put up a real fight. UKIP around 10,000. But again, who knows with such things?

I don't think it will have much of an impact on the general election whatsoever.

"I don't think it will have much of an impact on the general election whatsoever."

Octo - Maybe if you start to think things may become a bit clearer.
If you do what you always did you'll get what you always got.
The times they are a changin'
Octavious (2802 D)

What I always did was base my predictions on solid evidence and what I generally got was the right answer. In the lifetime of this very thread you, by way of contrast, have predicted a UKIP decimation of the Tory vote only to see, in the Euros, our vote share slip from a 2009 high water mark a mere 4 D. You have been proven utterly wrong.

The times are indeed a changin'. It used to be a widely held belief that the chief opposition is a shoe in for winning the European elections. Miliband and his team have proven this to be utterly wrong.

"It used to be a widely held belief that the chief opposition is a shoe in for winning the European elections."

And when Cameron was elected did you think the Tories would finish outside of the top two in a national election? We all need to get used to how this ;new; party changes common perceptions.
Octavious (2802 D)
28 May 14 UTC
@Maniac

Actually, yes. Labour managed a far less impressive 3rd place in the European elections in 2009, so the precedent was well established. My expectation when Cameron was elected was for the Tories to suffer a huge public backlash for the cuts they'd have to make and be trailing Labour by a country mile. That we were only a seat behind was astonishing.

I will leave you with this. In the 2010 general election less than half of the people who voted UKIP in the 2009 European elections voted for them to be their MP. If ALL the people who voted UKIP at the weekend vote for them in 2015, they will still struggle to get 10% of the vote.
NigeeBaby (100 D(G))
28 May 14 UTC
Octo - you still haven't got it have you, history is not helping you here, something has changed. The reason why these ex-Tories voting UKIP are not coming flocking back to the Conservatives in 12 months time is because David Cameron has lurched to the left and jumped into bed with Clegg. UKIP are mopping up votes from the traditional right who have no effective representation in modern day politics.
The Liberals will struggle all year after these results and will struggle to get anywhere near their 2010 result.
I'm pretty sure Labour will end up the biggest party in parliament with no overall majority. I reckon the Liberals will have less than 30 seats.
Octavious (2802 D)
28 May 14 UTC
Nigs, if you're going to criticise anything you should have focused on the slightly dodgy maths in the last sentence. Adopting a "the Tories are just too left wing" argument is even more ridiculous than your usual nonsense. You're even inconsistent with yourself Having a Labour minority government with a decimated Tory vote and less than 30 Lib Dems is practically impossible.
NigeeBaby (100 D(G))
29 May 14 UTC
Octo - I'm not arguing that the Tories are too left-wing, I don't think they are at all, it is their own supporters that are saying this ... then leaving for UKIP.
You are so partisan you are blinding yourself from the truth, I am passing comment on what is actually happening in the real world at this moment.
I personally think the Tories are better off without the right-wing lunatics but that is just my personal opinion, at least with UKIP we can identify them easier. You have been taking Liberal votes which is not a problem as they are pretty harmless. The votes that Labour lent you in 2010 will probably be needed back next year.
You strutting around like a peacock showing off your colours makes it hard to have a proper political discussion .... get over yourself
Octavious (2802 D)
29 May 14 UTC
"votes that Labour lent you in 2010"

Can you even hear yourself, Nigs? The arrogance of that statement is astonishing. They are not Labour's votes to lend. The actual number of voters faithful to any particular party or ideology is breathtakingly small. I shall prepare a proper answer when I have time but frankly I see little point in it. The only voice you listen to is the one inside your own head.

Not a bad estimate of the Tory vote, and (with luck on my side) got UKIP spot on. Overestimated Labour by a country mile though. Still, can't win 'em all.

And the tories hold a safe tory seat, as basically everyone expected.
Octavious (2802 D)
06 Jun 14 UTC
A seat that Tony Blair's Labour won in 97, but yes, not an unexpected result. The points worthy of note is that UKIP were nowhere near as close as some people imagined (and we look forward to such alarmists shutting up for a bit) and Labour have actually managed to go backwards.
Maniac (189 D(B))
06 Jun 14 UTC
Octavious you were 28 votes out for the UKIP vote I expect better of you next time around. I'm now seriously worried about my 100 D.

What's interesting is where did the LibDem vote go?
Octavious (2802 D)
06 Jun 14 UTC
My guess is that some (the sort that voted Lib Dem last time as a protest against the big two) switched to UKIP. A handful will have gone to Labour and the Tories. I dare say the majority just didn't bother voting.

In non winner-take-all game, can you solo with less than ALL the centers?
I want the solo win (and will have a majority of SCs soon). if I accept the draw once i get the majority, doesnt that mean i lose my solo? But do i really need to hold every single center to get the solo? How do you 'resign' ...so my opponents don't have to sit through the process that could take years?

Ethics of Diplomacy
So in general, I suppose most people here would say you can, and, possibly, should do anything within the rules to increase their chance at winning.

How about, for example, pretending to be terminal, though? Is that still fine?

In lue of that post your favorite or best games here. I'm up for reading some good stories.

Drinking healthy
I'm quite a balanced eater, so it's not exactly vital, but apart from water, it seems like almost every drink is unhealthy for your body or teeth in some way. Of course, I could just make sure I vary enough, and I do, but I still think it's good to know what's actually healthy rather than "not that bad".

I absolutely don't have to worry about too much calories, btw. I'm talking about the other stuff.
