German Opening Strategies: Update for Online Play

PREFACE: I am really a rather rotten player. I write this not because I enjoy any good measure of skill at the game of Diplomacy, but rather because I enjoy writing.

Drinking Age
What is the drinking age in your society?
This is the most illogical part of America. An 18-year old has the competence to vote for President but not to drink a beer.

quick question
Hi, I used to play many many years ago and now I am back to webdiplomacy. Just a quick question, how many phases do you need to miss for the game to kick you out?

Apologies if this question had been asked before but I couldnt find it in FAQs.

Dear Krellin, who do you hate?
I'd like to start a game with some cool lefties/decent people, and figured the quickest way to work out who to invite was to ask you who you hated most. At the moment I'm thinking a game with Tolstoy, Major Mitchell, Thucy, Cachimbo, Hecks and Bo-sox would be fun. Did I miss anyone?

Wow... opening a thread to call people gay.

I gotta say: that's fucking offensive.

And not because of the way in which it uses sexuality as a way to demean someone. No... It's offensive because it exposes far too clearly just how empty of any form of good sense and intelligence you two are. You offend by your stupidity.

(but don't get me wrong: I still think it's really fucking offensive and bigoted to use sexuality as an insult...; while I doubt either of you still had much cred with me, you just lost it all. And I do hope that a Mod will see this and consider closing the thread altogether)
krellin (80 DX)

Cach -- and you *WILL* post the same comments on the "attack krellin with homosexual insults" thread, too, right?

Or are you a fucking, raging hypocrite?
Cachimbo (1181 D)

Had I seen that thread, I would do the same.
2ndWhiteLine (2596 D(B))

Not sure what other thread you're referring to, unless it's mine discussing which of you two (krellin or sblyvy) is the ringleader in your playground bully organization. But I know you're so sensitive to any slight to your character, krelly.

Because....FUCKWAD...the attack krellin with homosexual slurs thread was put up FIRST by yoru hive-mind Libtard allies.

Cmoe on, Cach...MAN THE FUCK UP. What's with all the selective indignation?

Oh....wait....I understand. You have no principles. Check. Hive-mind didn't tell you to act.

Cach - "had I seen that thread".....what? are you fucking blind? It's on the front page. Wow...you lie as poorly as Thucy does - denying the obvious, squirming uncomfotably when caught in a lie, caught in another Libtard hypocrisy...

Well go find it and post to it, Cach....demonstrate to me you have integrity.
Cachimbo (1181 D)
07 Aug 13 UTC
Dude... I made the comment on their thread too as soon as you drew my attention to it. I want to bet it will die much faster than this one though, because the hive-mind is generally also kinda sensitive to that kinda crap.

2ndWhiteLine (2596 D(B))

And telling Cach to "MAN UP" isn't implying he's acting feminine? So demeaning women is fine, but gays are off limits to the Holy Krell?
Cachimbo (1181 D)
07 Aug 13 UTC
(+2)
"Man up" is an interesting proposition. I think I read something on it not long ago... It does point to a normative idea of manhood, and in Krellin's case I do suppose that failure to "man up" likely means being the other of man, i.e. a woman. If you accept, however, that sexuality is not binary and reducible to our genital apparatus, then "manning up" doesn't necessarily mean departing from a female standard of personality. It's asking to act in accord with what is cisgenderly male.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Aug 13 UTC

2WL - Cach --- No, "Man Up" was the phrase used by the Libtard Failure of the Debates leader *YellowJacket* and others (probably you, too, 2WL) over the past years in frequent attacks on me.

So, given that "Man Up" has the Libtard seal of approval, I thought it was an appropriate phrase of encouragement to use when directed towards you and your ilk.
2ndWhiteLine (2596 D(B))
07 Aug 13 UTC
Used in that context, dear krel, it implied that you reneged on a bet, something that isn't inherently male or female, but subhuman. So in your case, it was requesting that you achieve a level of basic human decency.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Aug 13 UTC
Hive-Mind to 2WL...Attack attack attack!!! You've been caught in a hypocrisy!

ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!!! Deflect legitimate criticism and deflect thread to new subject!!! HYPOCRICY DETECTED BY LIBTARD!!

This is a Hive-Mind alert...

I know you're a sensitive man, but a clarification to a mistake you made hardly constitutes a personal attack.

You realize that you're being fairly repetitive when some people here are making novel contributions and are expressing ideas that you have yet to deal with.

"You realize that you're being fairly repetitive when some people here are making novel contributions and are expressing ideas that you have yet to deal with."

What makes things more difficult is that krellin - and this is not a personal attack, just an observation based on the number of capital letters in your posts - hasn't progressed beyond Piaget's preoperational stage of development.

Why are there three separate threads on the front page of the forum all devoted to discussing krellin?

Remember when the forum was getting spammed with threads advertising live games? I think we need the same solution here...
krellin (80 DX)
07 Aug 13 UTC
Please explain the "novel contribution" 2WL made? Wow....Libtard squirms, Libtard deflects from topic to protect fellow member of Hive-mind...

Shall we go back to addressing 2WL hypocricy in saying I can't use "Man Up" when the entire Libtard crowd uses it freely when it suits their needs?

I'm not sure I can understand your particular brand of hypocricy, Cach....when is it OK to deflect and ignore a topic, and when is it not? When 2WL does it, yo applaud and demand and answer. When I do it, I've done something bad?

Huh....funny....it's too bad you don't' have any standard principle upon which to operate.
Cachimbo (1181 D)
07 Aug 13 UTC
I'm not sure what you're referring to Krellin... Not sure where I've exposed my special brand of hypocrisy. In fact, I recall 'manning up', as you said, and making the appropriate comment on the other similar thread. So I believe you may want to work on your observation skills a bit...

And yes, Jamiet... if these threads have to be the sum of our common capacity for intelligent debates and discussions, of our ability to exchange ideas and thus transform our worldviews, if only a little... well you're absolutely right that the forum should instead concentrate on advertising live games and writing EOGs.
+1 for that, Jamiet!

"Well YellowJacket does look good with a ball gag in place, and Klein is a dominant German sounding name, soooo.."

Not trying to start something, since I like Jack Klein even though he may be the most insufferable, pig-headed liberal here. He's obiwanobiwan except smart and with generally good points. But klein is German for small, so it's far from a dominant name.

I have a boring Irish peasant name so I'm not one to talk either.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Aug 13 UTC
Well, it is because Klein suffers from "small-guy" issues that he likes to play the dominant role. You know, leather chaps, cowboy hat, whip....all 4'2" of him standing on a stool whippin' on poor poor old YellowJacket, who's down on all fours, ball-gag in place, dancer's tutu and bunny slippers on...

The Libertarian Rift
It is often claimed that divisions in the GOP run clearly along statist/libertarian lines, but this is frequently unclear in practice, as there are a good many other divisions and alignments as well (as in the Democratic Party). Here is a particularly clean example of the former, however.

Replacement for Summer League Games
Hi all. I am looking for someone who would be willing to replace one of the seven members in our Summer League. She abruptly decided to give up Diplomacy and her departure has halted our league play.

If you are interested in replacing someone who is in a great position in the League message me and I can send you more information. Thanks.

Hey Krellin
Could you warn me whenever you read a good argument against you in one of the many threads? I was thinking we might have to recruit some secretaries who can filter out arguments like Kafkatraps, complete fiction, partial fiction, anything including the word nigger, so we can focus on the arguments that can be considered worthy of your time. Post interest in becoming secretary in this thread and I'll get you a form.

How DARE Soldiers Fighting Religious Fanatics Not Be Religious?!
http://news.yahoo.com/u-military-problem-atheists-065000534.html
I find that ironic in the US Military's case (for the above-stated reason)...but it's an issue that crops up every now and again, people thinking that a lack of religious belief MUST mean you're "at risk," or "depressed" or a danger to yourself or others...how about we're not convinced by the "evidence" for God and think that Religion kills (and encourages killing at that) and leave us be?

Fear of Clowns (Lighthearted)

* Hey folks...sorry for the thread bombing we have **all** been doing...so here is a little something lighthearted to discuss I heard on NPR yesterday.
* Are you afraid of clowns? Grown men in makeup doing socially unacceptable things, often to children? (Like touching, squirting them with water, etc. while hiding behind a mask?) Or are they innocuous fun?

295 versus Turnpike
I'll be headed to New Jersey in a few weeks and was hoping to get some insight on this. Is there any benefit to taking I-295 to the I-195 junction instead of paying the tolls on the NJ Turnpike (northbound from Delaware)?
