Also, almost no one knows $h!t about the Congo, so there **might** be one thread there relating to people being cannibalized and the rest would be purely anecdotal or stuff made up by people that pretend they know.

Second, by "Congo" do you mean "catch-all"? Where does the religious stuff go?

Would all of the columns on my homepage limit the messages that remain? Sometimes I want to keep things there longer.

I also like the way playdip's forum is setup. Something to consider?

Just saw an upcoming live game at the top of the forums without a thread advertising it. I can't believe you'd want to break apart the unity the site has. More united than ever!

It seems a little odd and I would like it to be tweaked so that the home page isn't so wide (drop-down forum categories maybe?), but otherwise, it seems like a good change. Particularly for mobile users, though, that is too much on the home page.

My hope is that the solution will be a drop-down list of each different forum when one presses the "forum" button on the top toolbar rather than incorporating each different forum into the homepage, which, in that image above, does not even include game notifications, private messages, or the game queue. It also doesn't translate to the phone's natural vertical alignment, which I tend to use more than the horizontal that you pictured. I don't know how to code a drop-down list, but that is the more realistic option in my opinion over your incorporation of multiple forums into the current format.

Very much in favour of a split forum. It allows those who thrive on the arguments and trolling to have their fun without those who don't complaining about cliques, allows those who want to seriously study the game and look for tips on how to improve to do that, and allows for some light hearted banter. For the end user I think it's a great idea, it's whether, having created specific sections for sdpecific things, the admin team / mods / bosses have time to moderate it all.

Could we put back and forward buttons at bottom of each thread?

Could we make those buttons much bigger and more spread out, so it looks something like

Could the posts be numbered to make it easier for people to refer to previous comments

Hmm, perhaps the Forum panel should only show the subject and a response or two, rather than the sometimes large number for the Mafia, say, that crowds out other topics; but I repeat there needs to be links through to a wikia to which the mods could transfer the sticky thread content (like instructive examples etc a compendium of riches! Good for site suggestions too - I can never find that!)

I have wanted a dual forum for quite a while.. As with all thibgs the tough part is enforcement.

I assume mods can just shift a thread from one forum to the other?

When i first came here one of the things i hated most was the forum. I thought it was convoluted, full of nonsensical banter, mostly off topic to anything remotely Diplomacy related, 90% flaming of other players, and very difficult to navigate. Over time though i've come to realize that the shitty forum is pretty tightly tied to the stuff i really enjoy about this site, which is a fiery and active community.

That 'other' site has very well laid out forum with sub-forums which i think is fantastic, but really there's only a very small community in each of the threads pitching in so suddenly you don't get to know much about all the other players unless you see them in a game because you never would cross paths with them in a forum if you're not overly as interested in "The Congo" as they are.

What I would love to see though is a better archiving/search functionality and to not close down forum posts so we can keep conversations going without the need for continual bumping or rehashing of previously covered topics. If you're going to go the categorized subforum route then i'd suggest still keeping the aggregated feed on the homepage and just have the categories in the archive. In that context i'd consider this an extremely good idea.
