I confess I agree with ab; after all it's not called Kings of the Mountain!

Kicking everyone off the mountain probably means that somebody gets back sooner than they should, but, as long as it's not the immediate next game, I wouldn't mind.

This might force lusthog anyway, if the possibility of all getting kicked off is enacted

We're way past the original question of how to resolve ties, so sow about this: if the game ends in a draw, then only the last player to vote draw stays on the mountain?

Hell, Stack, you might as well say no draws ever! It'll make Draw the Concede button. Let's keep the top SC count drawer, ties = kick all survivors to the Foothills. Those who were losing drawers join the Losers list so they can bid to win a Foothills game, which would entitle them to have another try for the Mountain!

I am strongly against this. The original rules stated that two players could advance to the next mountain in case of a draw, with only ssorenn challenging the criterion for splitting ties. If we change it to allow only one player to advance, that completely alters the rule, and makes a previously rational strategy (playing for a three-way) completely pointless.

If anyone is unhappy with a rule change midstream, I don't think we should do it - you can't change the rules in the middle of the game.

Well yeah, it shouldn't change for *this* game. But for the next one...

As long as we all agre to same rules what's the difference. As I originally said is that in case of tie, using RR or GR is unfair and gives advantages

@ssorenn, my point is that I played this game with the objective of moving on to the next mountain; either by soloing, or becoming the first or second power in a draw. If the rules are now changed so that only a solo will cause me to advance, I am suddenly out of contention.

I agree that RR is not the best tie-breaker and you did already point that out before the game started. What do you propose we use as tie-breaker instead?

I'd just like to point out that we have not actually addressed the question that was asked in the current game.

That is, what if there is NOT a draw, but a solo victory - but there are TWO players equally tied for second place? So, say someone wins with 18 SCs, but two other powers survive, and both of them have 8 SCs. Who is on the mountain?

(Or have I got that wrong, and if there is a solo, only the person who solos stays on the mountain?)

Yeah, my understanding is that a solo means that only the winner advances. The question is: what if we end with a center division of 16-9-9 or something similar?

What I don't understand is why you join the game under known rules and then bitch about it? Just get on with it and look to change between games or don't change it and don't play if you don't like it.

I think basvanopheusden is right, but maybe that can be clarified. Under the rules announced before this game started, if there is a solo, only the solo winner goes on; and if there is a draw, we would then need to resolve any ties for second place, using (for the moment) RR and then GR.

Right now, the rules are pretty clear (I think!): If there is a solo, only the winner continues. If there is a draw, the top two by SC count continue, with a tie break as described above.

Yeah, I think much of the confusion is because I thought England was asking a different question than he did. My bad.

Can we PLEASE have separate page for the rules - it's effectively a variant!
