I think you don't know what you are talking about. First of all, you are a known CDer from live games so it doesn't really matter what you think. Secondly, the German player CDed at 2 centres in 1903. I will never draw a game after 1903 that was ruined by a CD unless it is a true draw. Why should I, the game has not concluded ot a draw - it is broken and it it is going to be ended it should be cancelled. Nobody voted cancel so why should I? I was doing well and having fun. Eventually a true stalemate formed and I could not win, so I voted to draw - my best result.

Also, any Austria who thinks oepning TRI-VEN doesn't deserves allies - he has already proven he is a selfish player who is only in it for himself, that move destroys any kind of chance for A/I to succeed, TRI-VEN is yelling to Italy "screw you, sucker"

I wasn't in this game, but I feel the need to disagree with Lando here.

I never personally open Tri-Ven as Austria, because if Italy attacks me, I have no chance either way, but the fact is that it's a move that makes sense from a defensive standpoint, and it helped him stay alive here, so I really don't see the problem.

tri-ven sacrifices any chance at gre, so austria becomes a sueless ally. at 4 centres he is vulnerable and nothing can save him, really, so the only chance of italy is to attack and hope for the best. much like as austria if italy opens ven-tyr and follows i know i lose, if austria opens tri-ven and i am italy, i also know i'll lose. just those dumb moves that people constantly make.

True, but those moves tend to be the way that you end up losing as Italy or as Austria in a game. By getting yourself involved in a side theater, you add to the pressures you are faced with. As it is, Austria already has to deal with Russia and Turkey, and attacking Italy only draws away forces from areas where they are needed. Similarly, Italy has to deal with a Turkish counter to the Lepanto and a belligerent France, and attacking Austria is a short sighted attack that leaves the back door open to invasion by France.

Lando, I'm surprised that you interpret Tri-Ven as a hostile opening. It's purely defensive, and it won't do any harm to a friendly Italy. I don't see why Tri-Ven should prevent I/A from working together. In press games this opening is sometimes arranged just to help Austria feel less paranoid. Why shouldn't that be possible in gunboat too?

i understand that, i am more asserting that the move, by austria, is counter-productive. in a gunboat game austria and italy are going to have peace to start, or not, and that move is not going to change this. it doesn;'t stop italy screwing it all up and it does give r and t an advantage right off the bat,
