I was France, and England came at me early, but luckily we bounced in Brest in A01 and I was able to build a fleet there and put the pressure on him. At first, Germany seemed to be coming in too, but he moved away when he saw a 1 on 1 F v E shaping up. I was fortunate that Italy was looking eastward too. After a couple of years of getting England sorted out, Germany jumped on him too so I started moving fleets south. Germany and I then formed an alliance where he moved on Russia and I moved on Italy.
I got it so I had all Italian centers and he could no longer build, but he was alive in the Balkans. So I decided to hit Austria and support Italy since he couldn't build anyway. Then Germany made a move that made me a little suspicous that he might turn on me, so I rearranged my units one turn in England so that I could hit him and better defend myself. Fortunately, he didn't hit me that turn while I was moving. But I forced him out of England and then started pushing on him.
At that point I was around 13 or so and there were 6 players still in (England was the only one defeated) and aside from Turkey and Russia still hitting each other for a turn or two, everyone started to gel against me. By the time I got to 15, they all had draw votes up, and I decided that if I went a year without getting a build, I would draw. But I really didn't want to share the pot with two countries with 1 unit and a country with 2 units. Fortunately, I got a build a turn until the end. Once I got to 16, it was very tight, but I got myself into Helgoland and also put a unit in St Pete, forcing Russia to attack it and force another German disband.
There was also the issue of Bosox temporarily getting banned and having to leave the game but fortunately he came back with no harm done other than the fact that we all found out he was Germany.
In the final year I decided to let Denmark go in the spring in order to take Kiel and Berlin, knowing I could get Denmark back in the fall to seal the game.
It was a good game against quality opponents with not a single missed turn by anyone, so I gained some valuable experience and had a lot of fun. Thanks to all who played and thanks to Frank for putting it together.
