Gunboat is as much fun to play as it is to watch, especially the non-live version of the game.

Gunboat means looking at actions and trying to gauge the future of an alliance without communications.

Diplomacy without words is like boxing without fists. The game and the skills required to excel are subtly different.

Any experienced gunboater knows there's at least that much diplomacy involved as in full press games. Supports, types and places of builds, showing commitment by moves, choosing hold instead of self-bouncing, dislogding someone's unit so he can build a new one at home (and not to consider it as an attack), voting draw or draw+cancel+pause at the same time, and a lot of other things which are among the tools of expressing your will to the others.

Anyone, who think, there's no diplomacy in gunboats is simply inexperienced in those games.
