Just another reason why we need a playoff. I say seed the top 12 team regardless of their conference, give the top four first round byes. That would give us 11 games over a four week period. Then we would really know who is the best team.

After watching OSU tonight, they deserve a shot at LSU.

Oklahoma State has a better resume. Alabama's beaten 2 ranked teams: Penn State and Arkansas. Oklahoma State's beaten 3: Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Baylor. And it's possible (though unlikely) that Texas remains in the top 25, in which case OSU has four.

If we look to records, Oklahoma State has beaten 7 teams with winning records: Louisiana-Lafayette, Tulsa, Texas, Missouri, Baylor, Kansas State, and Oklahoma. Alabama's beaten three: Penn State, Arkansas, and Auburn.

Alabama's loss is better, sure. But last I checked, you don't determine a potential champion by how well one lost. You might use that as a tiebreaker if all else is equal, but "losing better" is a hilariously pathetic qualifier. Not to mention that "x team had a better loss" is effectively arguing "This game this one weekend matters more than all 11 of the others," which makes no sense at all.

I'm not sure how you can say Alabama deserves another shot at LSU. They had their chance, and they blew it. The whole reason for the BCS system, which is extremely flawed imho, is that every game means something. If Alabama gets a rematch, clearly that isn't true. I'm not saying that Alabama is necessarily a worse team than Oklahoma State, but they blew their chance, and OSU has earned their right to play for a title.

And snack attack, what metric are you using to determine that there are five SEC teams that are better? Other than LSU and Alabama, they all have at least two losses and not all of them have come to conference opponents.

If 'Bama gets into the BCS, it basically says that their first game against LSU didn't even count. If the whole idea of the BCS is that "every game counts" and they don't need a playoff due to that fact alone, an LSU-Alabama game completely refutes that argument because it's essentially a do-over for Alabama.

Hell, Alabama didn't even play in their conference championship game. How could you possibly have a BCS champion that wasn't in the conference championship game?
