Going Greek
This is one of my sons first year at UA and he recentyl recieved at bid to a fraternity, but I am hesitant to let him accept it. I didn't get involved with the Greek system when I was a student there and am unsure of how the process works. Does anybody have any experience with the matter?

Cache errors
It looks like people have been getting errors, we're still trying to figure out why and get things going again, apologies for the downtime if you were one of those affected

In the game Basic Diplomacy-3 it isn't possible to issue orders... I hope that the problem will be solved before the deadline 5/9 7:10 am... I don't want to NMR...

Games are paused for now, and I'll add time once this is all figured out.. this is a really weird one though

I've added 5 hours to all games and reverted a change.. Glad this happened during 3am-5am US time at least :/ Apologies to all who were trying to access games

I still don't know what went wrong though, but everything should be working again. Please let me know asap if it isn't

I haven't had any errors, but is it possible that these errors are related to TheGhostMaker's difficulty with accessing data?

Nope that was something else zultar (related to the growing number of games and users), which I spoke to TGM about and we sorted it out before this began (I've had better sundays)

So two issues came up at once:
- I changed the update script to use a new source control, to allow easier collaboration with other devs. In doing so I synced the code with the latest dev version
- I forgot that the latest dev version had javascript/board/model.js modified to improve convoy order efficiency, but it hadn't been completed yet.
- I didn't notice that the variant cache directories weren't created correctly (I still don't know how this got past testing)
- I copied it all over and all testing went fine (because the cached model.js was still in effect)
- It seemed all clear, but a while afterwards people started to experience errors.
- Users of some variants had 2hr of downtime between 3am-5am EST, and we added 5 hours to games to compensate

So this was really a one-off mistake changing the update process, but we've also added http://webdiplomacy.net/beta/ (latest code, live database) and http://webdiplomacy.net/test/ (latest code, testing database), which will be updated & tested before the live system (currently running the older code)

Apologies to those who couldnt access their games

Russia in gunboat
I find it very hard to play Russia in gunboat. I usually go to GoB, Galicia, Ukraine, Black Sea.

Which openings do you use and what is your strategy usually?

Anonymous and no messaging games
Why are they so popular at the moment? I don't see the advantage of being anonymous. And taking away de messaging just makes the game less enjoyable. You can't anymore backstab people that way, and that's the whole point of the game! Can sum1 explain me?

Rugby World Cup
Is actually going to be on network tv in the US. I'm looking forward to watching it.

Anybody have any thoughts on what we should expect? Will anyone knock off the All Blacks on their home turf? Will Ireland stop their downward spiral? Do any darkhorses like the Georgians or the Tongans have a shot to advance past pool play?

Stuff that breaks your game
Tonight I played a good live game, and was one of the leading players a few years in. Then my daughter woke up and had one of those fits that only daddy can woo... :-) I had to leave the game and when I came back my country had hit the slopes.

Let loose the times your game has been broken by outside factors!
