Quite the simple question: Is there a way to receive an email notification when a phase adjudicates? I can't find this mentioned in the FAQ and I have yet to figure out how to search the forums (if that is possible)

Requesting pause in game
http://www.webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=57216

This game has 2 hours or so before next phase, and Russia hasn't input orders. However, Russia has input a pause vote, though there has been no discussion (unless I missed something) about a pause on the global chat. I think Russia has indicated from his pause though that he won't get back in time.. anyway, a pause would be appreciated until Russia returns.

Is it possible to have someone in charge take a look at this game. It seems that perhaps Egypt and Rome are on the same team. They like disadvantaged games. I guess if they are not multi accounts then just bad sportsmanship for continuing a game that is at a complete disadvantage to those others..

Thanks

Rapture Tomorrow - What to do about mass NMRs?
You guys, it just occurred to me that there might be some people here that are going to get caught up in the rapture tomorrow and that is going to create some serious upsets in ongoing games. Is there any kind of contingency plan for this? Mods?

Funny how the Rapture only entered Christian theology in the 19th century. Must have slipped past the Church Fathers.

I can't wait to hear what this guy says tomorrow.

He'll say what he said the LAST TIME he made this sort of prediction in 1994--

That he "made a mathematical error," and in a few years, we'll hear the same thing, not counting all the 12/21/12 junk.

Well, it's 3:05am here in Los Angeles County, and I'm still here...no sign the Christians on the block have vanished, no Antichrist or war has appeared or started, no Jesus yet...

How are we doing across the globe, Englanders/East Coasters? Maybe this is a regional thing, it starts at the same time, just like a TV schedule...

"The Rapture! Tonight at 8, 7 Central!" ;)

They better hurry up, less than three hours to go here until Sunday. And you know, hell seems like a much more interesting place than heaven.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
21 May 11 UTC
Well, if "Hell is other people," I imagine heaven's rather boring...

You're there...by yourself...in a white robe...with a cloud and a harp and...?

Sounds like a boring cult--and Dante's First Circle of Hell seems pretty cool, it's jsut the beest folks who were never Christian hanging out in their own private castle near a forest...

Personally, given the choice between white robes and harp lessons and the chance to listen to Plato and Aristotle harp on and on...I'll take the toga-wearing Greek fratboy-philosophers (I can see it now...wow, Epicurus is sure tapping the hell out of that kegger...Hell's the place for Epicureanism!) :p

Well then, perhaps you should read Deadline by Randy Alcorn. Hell as in a fiery pit where demons poke sinners is a somewhat romanticized version of the place. Truth to be told, we don't actually know how hell will be. Jesus also speaks of 'outer darkness' where there will be 'weeping and gnashing of teeth':

"11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Matthew 8:11,12 KJV

I certainly wouldn't like that one bit.

life would be pretty boring without something to cause weeping and gnashing of teeth.

i mean suffering is important, it allow us see problems with which we need to deal. anger is important, it fuels change, you need to care about something to get angry. conflict is useful, it is how we resolve problems, without it we merely ignore problems.

these are useful things which we need to embrace not ignore.

also, 12/21/2012???

frack, i hate you americans.

12th day of 21st month of 2012th year.
i know the formatting is different in america, and that it is based on "dec 12th, 2012". but it is still stupid when you write it left to right without any english inbetween. (in speech you could say the 12th day of Dec OR Dec 12th, both are equally valid, but in writing EVERYWHERE else, you have either big to small OR small to big.... digital watches being the only other example i can think of... stupid convention!!! god damn it i hope God rapturesthe lots of you!!)

Firends have been telling me about this show "The Mentalist" and I've caught bits and pieces and knew some of the backstory from my friends, but I just watched the two-hour season finale. I am absolutely hooked. I guess I know what I'll be catching up on this summer.

Game in Spanish
Anybody interested in playing a game in Spanish?
Game-details are negotiable -- I'm really more interested in some practice than in the diplomacy. The pot will be low enough to accommodate whoever wants to play.
All levels of Diplo. and Spanish are welcome.

Better diplomacy site!
Hey everybody, I think you should all check out www.vdiplomacy.com - it has a huge number of maps and variations that are extremely fun to play - as well as the standard classic europe map.

There is no comparison between it and this site! I can't believe more people haven't registered, check it out now!
