Since mapleleaf and ava destroyed my original thread by their playground fight, I'm starting a new one. 3 way draws... should they be a 'good' valid end of a game?
Do you have a website for new inventions? Have you invented something you want to share? Have you been surfing the web when you stumbled across something outrageously sweet? Please enlighten all of us!
In response to Virtuous Diplomacy thread, a WTA challenge game was opened. It has just finished. http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=36558 I think that commentaries will be more than welcome.
find dg/dx, (a function) by the limit process of g(x) = square root (x+2) Then find the equation of the tangent line at the point x = 2
I have the tangent line, and the derivative, but I can't find it using the limit process. Anybody got any help for me? Or answers? My friend and I have been getting killed by this for almost an hour.
I currently subscribe to the Economist and IEEE Spectrum. I'm looking for another Science/Tech one that's around the level of Spectrum or higher. Any suggestions?
hahah wow! I never thought of a library! Working at a research university, I suppose we have one of those. It's funny the things you forget about when you spend too much time on a computer : )
And, although I like reading websites, I think I'd prefer a print journal. I find I get much too distracted online to pay attention to anything that requires significant thought.
"New Scientist" is quite good, however tread with care: My father used to work at the National Physical Laboratory (as a mathematician), and says that it always seemed to be very interesting and gave a clear, brief overview of the subject matter, until you started reading about something you had already studied, when it seemed superficial, oversimplified and sometimes wrong.
I subscribe to MIT tech review. It has some great stuff, some really nice infographics and worthwhile interviewees, but lately there have been way too many "top x greatest innovations/startups/etc" mags
@Jamie - Hustler and SCORE are two pedestrian. Theres no moving and no grunting, groaning, screaming out "f- me!", cum shots, anal, DP, ATM or any of the other really good perversions. Plus why pay for stills when you can get movies for free on the interwebs?
Hmmm....seriously? I got IEEE Spectrum for years....<snorrre...> Economist? BORING.
The ONLY magazine I have ever actually READ cover-to-cover, including the message from the editor and letters was (NO...NOT and "adult magazine)...PC GAMER.
Take a break from being a brainiac and plan your next computer upgrade based upon the next stellar release!
Discover? It's crap....Scientific America? Crap. BOTH of them are fairly left-leaning scientific magazines. Do they have science in them that is interesting? Absolutely. But I find every issue bludgeons me with yet another take on evolution, global warming, etc. Not new and interesting information....just...I don't know...just kind of articles that are as much intended to bash any opposing viewpoint as they are intended to advance science. I used to LOVE Scientific America...now I find parts of it tedious. Other parts...for example an article on the multi-verse view of existence...are perhaps thought-stumulating, but highly useless...unless you want to get into some deep forum philosophy discussion about existence...
PC GAMER, yo! My current (NON-Dip) favorite game -- which is FREE mind you - and was highly recommended by PC GAMER "League of Legends". Think "best ideas from WoW battlegrounds" and then improve upon them. Great action in short time frame and persistent character development BUT, not locked into a single character/class. League of Legends...AWESOME...recommended by PC GAMER!
Oh...and if you can travel through time...I highly recommend MAD Magazine from the 50's and 60's, when it was fresh, creative and *prime*. Looking back on old issues of MAD Magazine, you will find **highly** insightful social commentary. Kind of frightening, really.
I was just analyzing my WebDiplomacy results and came to the stunning conclusion that I rock at being France (4 wins in 8 games) and Turkey (3 wins in 8 games), I very much suck at being Russia (1 draw, 5 losses). Italy is a strange case without any wins, but also without any losses. I mostly play gunboats by the way. Does it say anything about me as a player? How can I improve my Russia game?
So I was reading up on opposite theater alliances and trying to locate approximate equivalent powers -- England to Turkey, France to Russia, Germany to Austria.
For the third week in a row, I have made significant money playing poker. Tonight I made $535 in just 90 minutes. That's $350 an hour. I'm putting half of it aside and going to start playing 2 or 3 nights a week.
Could someone please clarify the following hypothetical situation for me: Player 1 has armies at A and B, and Player 2 has armies at C and D. B supports A into D, and C and D both move to A. Does C end up in A?
