I just want more people to join so I can actually play some live games on some of the better variants. This site is awesome but sometimes I just want to try to play some new variants

Yes, you are right. This site actually lets you play live games.(Have never been to playdip)and has enough support to start games whenever you feel like it. Still, I want more people to join olidip.net

also join Goondip.com I love OliDip, it have sooo many variants... though OliDip is created for testing and developing reasons... I'm currently working on a Neopolian Map Variant

I am VERY disappointed that ALL the replies in this thread have been by players/mods on Olidip.net

Not really - its more there as Oli's personal site, on which he generously allows you to test variants!

As figles pointed out, it's very nice of Oli to provide a place to play test a large assortment of variants.

From the webdip community standpoint, it's important and beneficial for sites like OliDip and others to exist. They provide a sandbox for players to experiment with new variants, and if a variant gains a significant following and is thoroughly play tested, it could possibly be introduced here. I am presuming (correct me if I'm wrong) that this is the model that kestas had in mind when restricting the numbers of variants available here.

You can't blame users of the OliDip for advertising in webdip's forums. How else would people learn about it?

Full disclosure: I actually do NOT have an account on OliDip (yet) or any other webdip variant-rich clone, but I fully support the idea. I do happen to have a facebook webdip account, but I have never used that once I realized that it was a separate entity and not just a portal for this site.
