Please don't make a grandiose display of something to discuss with the mods. The forum doesn't get anything done except rally unnecessary ballyhoo of public opinion that has no ramification.

Apart from that, I agree with you. This happened to me once, except there was no reason for others not to be there. I won because of 6 CD's in a live game. Odd..but rewarding.

Is there any chance of getting that name changed to like Website Rules, or Website Policies? It would take maybe 15 seconds to do and would avoid a lot f confusion.

I think I won the Game u talking about.
Right the server went down and as the server started again I was the only one in the game. So I won the Pot. Right.
Wasn't my mistake that all others went to bed or went to dinner.
So my opinion as far as it matters is I keep the points.
Cause the points are already in another game invested.
So u can't take them from me cause I don't have them anymore.

All of that doesn't mean I don't agree with u but the problem is that the points not all of them but a couple are in another game already.
So how u handel that ??

@taws - well to be honest if that's what happened I think refunding the points would be the fairest option. You gained from the server having crashed, not from beating the others in game.

Well, you have 137 available and 90 invested in a game that hasn't started yet, so it isn't as if the 150 are unrecoverable. So what do you mean "how u handel that??" Seems pretty simple to me.

Given the situation, I think its probably fair enough to take the 13 back in the future but not worry about it just now. However, when your next game finishes don't reinvest the last 13

It's just unfair in the case that I was at my computer the hole time and was waiting for that game and I get punished that for that I was waiting.
It wasn't my fault that the server went down.
So u guys could have wait as same as I did.

You're not being punished in any way-if we were punishing you we'd take away more points than you won from the game!
I think you're saying its unfair that we forced you down to 0 and so you can't join any more games now? Is this your issue?

If so please would you PM me a list of all the game's you're currently playing in and I can try and work out a suitable alternative.

No what my point is I spend 3 hours of waiting and u don't. The 3 hours are gone forever . U guys where not sitting around and where waiting. I did. So I'm not complaining about the points. Or may be I do cause the points have been my paiment for three hour waiting.

Yes I can see an issue there, but I can't see a fairer solution. Your profit was derived from a system error, and as such should be corrected. For future reference if the site goes down then you can expect live games to either be paused (as they should) or cancelled if the auto-pause didn't kick in.

Man I'd be pissed if I was TAWZ. But I'd also be pissed if I was in a game and lost because of crashed server ( I've experienced both winning and losing due to it, so I know the feelings). Must suck to be a mod sometimes!

Its spending a night trying to catch up with the list of possible multi's, only to find a load of complaints on here about it that really annoys you!

I wonder if Ivo will look into this thread, because he & I were having a conversation about something very like this in one of the other threads.
@Rule - Do you have any thoughts on how you'd deal with this sort of issue? Very much doubt I'd change my mind, mainly interested.

I guess re-allocating the points is the fairest way to do it if a majority of the players disappear due a crash. Or alternatively you could re-allocate the points in terms of a each-player-gets what they were worth-ratio. Either of them sound good. Also, if you've had say one elimination before hand, then the players who cded could get re-funded, but the guy who sticks around could get all the left-overs.
Maybe "live game rules" should have it's own section somewhere on the site where this is clearly explained.

He is? He seems like an asshat to me.

IMO, the game should be retroactively canceled. I don't think that's an option, so instead points should be refunded and TAWZ docked.

If will get this threat off the board, take the 13 for TAWZ from me.

Geez, you want to be paid in Diplo points for wasting 3 hours of your time at a computer when it crashed? I like Diplomacy as much as the next guy, but seriously, get a life.

Well, in TAWZ's favor, his English language skills aren't up to a native English speaker. And the game hadn't started when the server crashed, so a return of points is the only option. Now, if the mods can give or take away points, perhaps they could have left some extra for TAWZ's waiting it out.

In the past these games were automagically paused, and the problem didn't occur.
When this has happened before points have been refunded.

To pay TAWS would be both a new precedent, and unfair. If you got points for spending time on this site (let alone time spend mod-ing) I would be rich. But that's not what the points are for, they are *a* measure of site experience and ability.

I didn't mean a lot. I just meant maybe wash the 13 point difference away altogether.
