Are countries assigned randomly?
New to this site here, so sorry if this is answered elsewhere that I didn't find. Are countries assigned randomly when a game starts? (I'm noticing in the Championship Belt Game Series that xorxes always plays Austria and captainmeme always plays France, but have not found any setting for choosing a country or assigning preferences or anything.)

Uber is kind of cool
So, I dont actually plan to spend money. But I downloaded this cool app called uber. I think its like, taxi cabs or toy cars or something. But they move. They wiggle around and travel places on this cool map that looks a little like real life. I watched this one car strolling down a highway. This is neat. How do I take over one of these cartoon car thingys

Hiliary rigged her nomination
Former interim DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile has come out exposing the Clinton campaign of taking over the DNC prior to her getting the nomination as the party's candidate which gave Clinton the control over the party's finances, strategy and all the money raised.

Incomplete orders on the small preview map are a problem.
Not all orders (most notably support orders) are shown on the small preview map of a game and, especially in Gunboat, this is pretty problematic.

Criminal Friends of Trump
http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/31/politics/manafort-3-passports/index.html

Former Trump friend Manafort has 3 different US passports under his own name and at least one under a fake name that's he's used to travel and possibly move money. The first to be indicted and a step up the ladder of Republican lies about what was happening during the election campaign.

Detailed rules for a game
I am in a game and one player has either held all his units or been absent for 7 consecutive phases (!)
Is there a way to see for the game I am in what the detailed set up is?

Axis & Allies general discussion thread
See title. I started playing it about a month ago. It's quite fun and a very different challenge from Diplomacy. I'm still getting my head wrapped around the editions, but I believe my group plays the "Classic" version (Spring 1942 start and there are no artillery, destroyers, etc.)

A friend and I are also working on a "present-day" version.

When players die
if you think about it any of us could die tomorrow and the site would never know. The games would go on and nothing would change. In a month people may say “I ausverkauft seen so and so around.” But then nothing.

Turkey in a Gravy boat
So given Turkey looks juicy but its dry, I think a solution could be to just dip the turkey in a gravy boat. in a GB, I think dryness is minimized. I want it to be moist.

A geopolitical forum game set in 2009
There's a forum game that will start sometime this month called "Balance of Power 2009." You can find it here: http://eregime.org/index.php?act=idx

Some users on eRegime also play on webDiplomacy, which is why I mention this.

Scythe
I finally got around to playing Scythe. It's without a doubt the best modern board game I've ever played. I highly recommend people check it out.

It is a very good game but there are numerous very good games nowadays !

Very good points is the high number of strategies that can be deployed in parallel. That permits to each player to develop his own strategy and game without too many frustration. Sad point is nevertheless that Russian and Polish are stronger than other factions.

And Germans are absolute rubbish. After playing them 10 times, twice I got close to using their special ability..
Claesar (4660 D)

But the game is really good, I agree. Still enjoy playing it.
CptMike (4457 D)
29 Oct 17 UTC
Agreed. German / Prussia is dedicated to be a "fighter" but the game is not "fighter-friendly" with the loss of the power points after a battle and the loss of popularity when you win against workers... When I get Germany I don't play the fighting strategy but just get my 2 stars and try to get points another way.

A weakness of the game is also that the 1st one at the factory takes a huge advantage on all others:
* in choosing his card
* in knowing what are the others
And if he decides to "camp" there, that even more the mess for the others.
If Russia reach the factory first (and there are huge chances) then the game becomes really difficult.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

I agree with your points on Saxony, but I fail to see how the Factory is a weakness of the game itself. It's a known objective of all factions. If a player doesn't prioritize getting to the Factory then there are consequences.

I know this is a thread about Scythe, but for someone that loves games like Settlers of Catan, Agricola, Power Grid, and Carcassone, what else would I like to look into? I had a really good friend that played games and that's how I got into it, but I've gotten bored with these (Although Carcassone never gets old)
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Have you played Scythe, because it has some notable similarities to Settlers and Carcassonne.

I have not tried those games mentioned above, and don't think it will be similar, but will suggest Twilight Struggle. That game looks very intriguing to me. I might give that a go. Ran across it recently by accident.

Was thinking about getting Scythe. The games my roommate and I have that are our favorites are(in order of how much we like them):
- Pandemic Legacy Season 1
- Power Grid
- Race for the Galaxy
- Puerto Rico
- Stone Age
- Love Letter

Definitely would be interested in others' thoughts about great games.
CptMike (4457 D)

@abgemacht : a weakness in the design of the game is the fact Russian and Polish are advantaged because they will reach the factory the first. No way for Prussia to reach it first and rather they arrive in 3rd or 4th position. Prussia is disadvantaged.

Spartacus is a wonderful games:
* like Scythe: there is a strategy of building with different possibilities
* much more interactions between players
* a part of confrontation and adrenaline with the arenas at the end of each turn

Turkey in a Gunboat
So given Turkey looked like it was the least fun to play especially in a GB, I decided to look trough past games where turkey won. What I noticed was many of those wins happened when either Russia or Austria CD'd the first turn. If Russia cd'd they'd move to Armenia vv
