Best Of?
I've been getting into the game a lot more recently and was wondering if there was any sort of listing of great or best games of Diplomacy. Games with great strategy, alliances, backstabs, drama, that kind of stuff.

In lue of that post your favorite or best games here. I'm up for reading some good stories.

Drinking healthy
I'm quite a balanced eater, so it's not exactly vital, but apart from water, it seems like almost every drink is unhealthy for your body or teeth in some way. Of course, I could just make sure I vary enough, and I do, but I still think it's good to know what's actually healthy rather than "not that bad".

I absolutely don't have to worry about too much calories, btw. I'm talking about the other stuff.

I'd gladly put either of my daughters in a public place to be compared to any of you, and I'm fairly certain in a contest of social grace, manners, etc, they would put the bulk of you to shame.

Even the "poo chair" incident is an indication of that -- the child took it with the good humor such an unfortunate (and hilarious) incident deserves...as opposed to the whiny bitches around here who would want to claim victim status and demand the government pay for 6 months of intense emotional therapy because their day didn't go exactly as they were promised by the government overlords.

YJ - if you are actually under some delusion that anyone here acts in real life as they do on line, your just kidding yourself. Everyone here acts different in school, versus at grandma's house, veruss when hanging out with the boys, versus sitting in a classroom, versus pick your comparison. All you morons that think that there is something particularly revealing about "online persona", that it's the "true person"....give me a fucking break. Maybe you collective assholes just bring out the worst in everyone -- after all, the majority of your are a bunch of whiny, give--me-a-handout, the-sky-is-falling pussies who I would trust to babysit my pet rock. The majority of you are inexperienced and naïve – and yet intelligent enough to know that education is important, but too arrogant to accept that someone 20 years your elder might have a clue or two more than you on a subject matter or two – so given all of these things put together, given that most of you are generally so ill-mannered and arrogant, I don’t think the likes of Draug and I give two shits about whether or not we offend you, because your know your teachers and parents are turning you all into a bunch of pussified wimps, and somebody needs to put you in your place very now and then – otherwise you are going to have a realllly rough life in the work place when your boss tells you exactly how unimportant you really are that first day of work when you think you are supposed to run the show, because up until then everyone told you (lied to you) about how special and important you are…
So yeah…fuck off, eh.

I'm surprised at you, krellin...

Owning a clearly-liberal pet like a kitten!

I mean, they're arrogant, pompous, think they're superior to everyone, force others to clean up after them, and the worst sin of all--they're fiercely independent and don't like being told what to do!
krellin (80 DX)

I'm pretty sure your last argument gives a good clue about why krellin likes kittens, obiwanobiwan.

As far as I can tell, krellin wants people to be fiercely independent. Although a pet kitten isn't my definition of fiercely independent...
Draugnar (0 DX)

Krellin rescues and fosters unwanted cats. I'd cut him some slack there. I respect the guy for that alone. Cats aren't my thing (I prefer dogs, lizards, fish, rabbits, turtles, frogs, etc.) but I respect any animal lover who goes out of their way to care for the unwanted and finds someone who wants them.
Alpha@Omega (183 D)

As far as I can tell, krellin wants people to be fiercely dependent--

So long as they're fiercely right-wing and God-fearing...

Anything else and you're a libtard fucktard soulless heathen Jewkiller commie.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
03 Jun 14 UTC
"Any "animal lover" who eats animals is a hypocrite."

That's rather dogmatic...I mean, it's a pretty damn diverse animal kingdom, and THEY eat each other...

I can't like dogs and dolphins and enjoy salmon at the same time?

If I love animals, but step on an ant, have I really committed such an awful sin?

(I'm personally indifferent to animals...I see the appeal for some people, me myself...I'm an indoors person and wouldn't care to have a pet pooping and peeing on everything, let alone the fact that I'd rather spent my money on human beings and human things than food, water, vets and toys for animals, so eh, leave them to the people who like that sort of thing, I'll keep to my books.)
Draugnar (0 DX)
03 Jun 14 UTC
We are all hypocrites in some way, Mapu. However, eating animal flesh doesn't make you less of an animal lover. Eating animal flesh that was treated cruelly all it's short life does, which is why I only eat meat from sources I know. I don't eat a steak at a restaurant unless it's one where I know their provider and their provider's means of caring for the animals. I also don't eat kosher meat as I think hanging an animal upside and slicing it's throat so the blood drains out until it dies is cruel. Sure, the "kosher way" may include the animal not feeling pain from the cut, but dying of blood loss is terrifying. I've bled out while still being conscious and nearly died. I could never do that to an animal.

"Eating animal flesh that was treated cruelly all it's short life does, which is why I only eat meat from sources I know."

I agree to a great extent, but at the same time...I'm getting awfully sick of animal rights protesters getting up in arms at my college about the way chickens are being treated on mass farms. Admittedly, the conditions ARE cruel, but...

All the causes in the world to champion...and you choose CHICKENS?

Not one of the many, many, MANY *HUMAN* causes or crises?

That honestly bugs me. And to preempt the question--yes, human life is, to me, worth more than the lives of chickens. Period. PETA made some comment a while back comparing the extermination of rodents to the Holocaust...and then were shocked (no, indignant, PETA's to high up on their high horse of a unicorn up amongst the self-righteous clouds to ever be "shocked") people found that to be five thousand kind of offensive.

Just saying...all that effort they're putting into protesting the cruel conditions of chickens that--let's face it--are going to be eaten anyway...

They could be rallying for Syria, Ukraine, to free Tibet or North Korea, to stamp out cancer or AIDS, to combat rape or racism or you name it...

But, no...chickens. Apparently, that is what is worth their oh-so-precious time.

If people like krellin make me lose faith in the Right, people like that make me lose faith in the Left.

Krellin, what your argument should be is that it is delusional to assume that anyone acts the same way in real life as they do here. Maybe some do. Hell, maybe many do. But to assume that is delusional at best and willfully ignorant at worst.

" As far as I can tell, krellin wants people to be fiercely dependent--"

Another retarded mischaracterization, a childish, blunt interpretation by a fool. There is really no point in trying to explain anything to the likes of you, who can't possibly grasp that being independent and responsible for yourself Does NOT prohibit you from acknowledging that cooperation with others leads to the mutual benefit and success of all. Moron. In the automotive industry, do you think that every engineer has to have his hand held like a Libtard child? Or do you think that, in reality, thousands of self-responsible, independent engineers complete their assigned tasks to spec in order to construct a car. They cooperate under leadership, but ultimately are responsible for their own actions…not too fucking hard to figure out, unless you are a government-tit-sucking, give-me-a-handout Libtard.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Draug, as I have pionted out, I *guarantee* That every person her *modifies* their behavior situationally. Abge says he is the same here as he is anywhere. BULLSHIT. When he is a student, versus in the classroom as a teacher, does he act the same? Of course not…the situation is different, and he behaves different. Anyone who says they are the same here as everywhere is not deluded, they are simply arrogant liars. The real question is why do they insist on making these ridiculous assertions?
krellin (80 DX)
03 Jun 14 UTC
abge - it's not wrong. read above.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
03 Jun 14 UTC
No, that's actually not what your quote said.

Of course people adjust situationally. The question is, how you differentiate situations. Some people view IRL and online as 2 mediums; I don't really. If I'm with friends (IRL or online) I act the same. If I'm in a leadership role (IRL or online) I act the same.

That's different than creating an internet persona, which you seemed to be claiming everyone did.
krellin (80 DX)
03 Jun 14 UTC
Did I say everyone creates an internet persona? I did not say that.

...I think you're getting a little too uptight about the whole cat thing, krellin...

Why don't you calm down and go back to shouting about how Obama's going to take your guns and barge right through your door (presumably so he can let his dog take a shit on your poop chair.)
krellin (80 DX)
03 Jun 14 UTC
And actually, as a matter of fact, Abge, not only do I adjust my behavior here in this environment, I also adjust my behavior here in this environment from one discussion to the next, and I adjust it based upon who I am conversing with.

Some people - Obifuck, for instance - is such a worthless, mindless moron I really don't give a fuck how I come off to him, and I treat him with an equal level of disrespect that he treats most people (imo).

As for you, I try to be a little nicer to you, because I like you. :)
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

I think it's clear that people have situational behavior, but it sounds like krellin is arguing that a person has no "actual" personality, only the various facets that he presents the world. All I was trying to say above was that a persons real nature is what they would do if unfettered by constraints, and I think online give us a pretty accurate estimate of that.

What would krellin IRL be like if he were a demi-god, with only limited binding by social constraint?

Probably a lot like the guy we see here, I imagine.

---

What about old YJ?

Yep. If I was able to not care at all about what people thought of me, you'd see a RL creature who looks a great deal more like, well, what you see here.

---

What about jmo?

I bet if jmo had great power IRL you'd see a very orderly world around him. The list goes on....
krellin (80 DX)
03 Jun 14 UTC
YJ, who krellin *is* is who krellin is. "In real life" (whatever that is), meaning (I guess) not on the internet, which is 95% of my life, I am a polite, helpful, charitable person.

that you say, "Oh, krellin called me a fucktard...he must be an asshole in real life" is utterly ridiculous, since my "real life" contradicts your assertion.

in real life, if I disagree with you, I will do it in a *situationally acceptable manner*. In WebDip, when I disagree with you, I will call you out like the asshole you are, in those terms...yes, **because I can**. Yes, because I see no reason not to, because there are enough arrogant, self-absorbed assholes around here that I just don't care if I ofend you, because nobody here seems to give a shit if they offend me or anyone else.

For you to assert that krellin is an asshole in webdip, and therefore must be an asshole...whatever. Sheer idiocy, fully contradicted by reality.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

Whoah, I didn't say asshole. You said that.

I also didn't say anything else you're saying I said, but let's start small :)
Slyguy270 (527 D)
03 Jun 14 UTC
I agree with YJ on this. A person's true nature tends to come out online because they are able to hide behind some amount of anonymity. People don't really think that there will be any social consequences for how they act online, so they let theirselves loose. Not everyone does this, but a lot of people do.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
03 Jun 14 UTC
^That or the polar opposite, you could put on a complete act of a persona for the same reason...no consequences, so you won't get caught, so you can pretend to be whoever you want.
