Why so much politics?
One thing I've noticed here is that there are so many threads based on politics, and I've been wondering what gets everybody so worked up about politics? I personally have very strong views that I would like to voice, but I don't know exactly how to jump in and how it will effect the way people view me on the site. I love a good debate, so I'd love to jump in. Any suggestions?

Just post a random topic and finish with "What now libtards" or "this is why obama is awesome" and you'll get a debate

Well, Nikola would be right about my stance. But another question I have is why are so many Diplomacy players so politically active and opinionated. Politics is fascinating to me, and I'd like to see if there is a correlation between Dip and politics.

I have a better grasp on American issues mostly. I'm a high school senior from California who pays attention to the major issues in California mostly. Probably the biggest issues on my mind are gun laws, marriage equality, minimum wage, and marijuana.

Fitting in with the political discussions here can take some time, but there are shortcuts. I'd recommend either rabies or bath salts followed by several sessions of randomly slamming your face against the keyboard.

It's a good question. If I had to take a guess I would say the sort of people who enjoy playing a strategy game where the prime means of success is convincing people that they should help you, probably enjoy debating more than the average person off the street. Since politics is a commonly debated topic, where everyone(almost) has a strong personal opinion it would make sense that it, and religion (which also shows up fairly often) would occur at a high frequency here.

That is however just a hypothesis, it could be that diplomacy players are also more likely to be into politics. Or perhaps it is just an example of a self perpetuating loop where users who love politics happen to post a lot, which creates an atmosphere which encourages further posting about politics. These are all workable hypotheses. I would guess it is likely a combination of all three factors.

(On an unrelated note, I just realized, how arrogant is is of me to presume that the personal political philosophy I profess is superior to that of others, simply because I believe it is more logically consistent. Intriguing. )

Diplomacy is a board game that is popular among a breed commonly referred to as intellectuals. While normally the intellectual is a civilized bunch, if you want to see them at their most savage, bring up a political discussion, nothing gets them more fired up then having them try to explain to you why their (mostly stupid, and I speak of both sides of the political aisle here) policies would work more then the current government of their countries.

And so say all of us, I thought that is why we all post here ..... I know the intel I feel compelled to impart is of vital international importance, I feel I am saving people single-handedly, mostly from themselves but some people from Gunfighter, he is a nutjob !!

Ahhhhhhhh ha ha ha ha ha hah ah ah ahahah ah ah ahh ah ah ahahaahh ahhahaha <...breeeeeathe.....> <cough cough...> AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHahahahahahahahaah

Yeah....that $17+ TRILLION dollar debt, massive unemployment rate (no, it's NOT 6% or 7% or whatever bullshit lie is coming from the Feds, because millions are just dropping off the rolls...*participation* rate in employment is plummeting)...the continuous drive towards nuclear weapons by Iran, the (still out there) chemical weapons in Syria...these don't even make the top of the list? But the imaginary gun issue, gay marriage and pot are?

God...how I long for the days of being a super-naive high school kid who thinks he knows it all...

Imaginary gun issue. That's funny man. The families of those people that died from gun shots are gonna laugh so hard when they read that. I bet they'll even go to that imaginary graveyard and tell it to their imaginary dead relative.

International Actors
At least in the major film industries, you rarely see an actor in America who hails from a different country. Sure, there's the occasional British or Australian who comes along, and I'm sure we visit them from time to time, but in a 'Globalizing World,' are cultural boundaries still too powerful to withhold a type of entertainment that is enjoyed so universally? Any thoughts?
