Leftist Weirdies
I've noticed a disgustingly large number of leftist communist liberal weenies on this forum, and believe they should stay off this site. War is a man's game, so if you're a limp-dick leftie, gtfo

it's not quantity of +s1, it's comments/+1 ratio, a title held by yours truly until I started getting into serious conversations on the forum.

I believe ghug now wears that belt.

Much more often, lately. I should quit. It's bad for my rep. I should start talking about banging trannies more often. People loved that type of conversation.

zultar told me once that I earned one of those three +1s he gave out. :D

I have been liked almosy 1400 times suckas! And you have to knock at least 25000 posts off my number of forum posts because they were made before likes existed.
krellin (80 DX)
22 Mar 13 UTC
And considering you water-down your "real" posts count by your incessssssant need to post inane comments in the "last man to post" type threads, which are certainly one-off niche threads....

zultar (4180 DMod(P))

Yeah, the number of likes is probably not the most accurate measure of how well-liked or funny you are. What matters more, and someone has already pointed it out, is the ratio of liked to forum post. And here, the winner is undeniably 2WL. He's in a tier of his own.
After him, there's a handful of folks whose ratio is somewhere between .25 and .33 (or 1/4 to 1/3).

If one were to equate this "liked" business to some sort of rating comparison, the number of liked is like the number of points you have on webdip (it's an indication but not a strong one) and the ratio of liked to post is GR.

Now, if one were to get into the math, one would have to be able to keep a list of who liked each comment and factor that into the rating (for example, KA probably follows ghug around and gives him +1 all the time and that certainly biases the ratio), and based of the square-root of the sum of the the true probability that the comment is actually "liked" worthy minus the expected probability with a sigma coefficient to factor in the likely culprits who would give the +1, we can then find a more accurate measure of who would win this battle.

abgemacht (1076 D(G))
22 Mar 13 UTC
@zul

There's a bigger problem. Players who had accounts before the +1 button will always have lower ratios than those that joined after.
zultar (4180 DMod(P))
22 Mar 13 UTC
(+1)
Oh, thanks for pointing that out, abge.
I should have said that the ratio should only be calculated since the +1 was introduced.

But you don't have any issue with the square-root stuff, right? ;)
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Mar 13 UTC
Yeah, abge and I both predate +1s.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Draugnar (0 DX)

That may be one of the cruelest things you've ever said, zultar.
SacredDigits (102 D)
22 Mar 13 UTC
Phew, I was worried that my most +1'ed statement ever was a dick joke, but thankfully it was only a +8 compared to a +9 for a Romney postmortem. There was hours of my life wasted.
ghug (5068 D(B))
22 Mar 13 UTC
I got +10 for:

"You clearly have no friends.

Happy holidays everyone!"

In response to Diplomat33's perfectly innocent holiday thread on Christmas Eve. We're such kind people.

I'm not prepared to go through all my posts and find which one has the most +1s
Iceray0 (266 D(B))
22 Mar 13 UTC
I predate +1's. I had to read this entire thread to figure out what the hell they even were.
SacredDigits (102 D)
22 Mar 13 UTC
I didn't go through all of mine, just ones that I personally would have +1'ed (and the dick joke). So for all I know, I said something like "No." and got a billion +1's.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
22 Mar 13 UTC
I would guess that "ADVERTISE YOUR LIVE GAMES HERE" with 82 +1's is the most a post or thread has gotten.
Draugnar (0 DX)
22 Mar 13 UTC
Most for a single post, but I would bet total in a thread is higher in one of the longer ones, especially one of the "+1 to pick your favorite" threads.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
22 Mar 13 UTC
The highest was probably that +1 thread a few months back where everyone had 5 or more +1's, lol.
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))
22 Mar 13 UTC
I remember getting a ton of +1s from Sbyvl's President thread a few weeks ago. I don't think those "+1 your favorite" threads really got all that many +1s, mostly because people aren't dumb enough to just hand out free +1s like that. You have to use reverse psychology and post a thread asking about +1s and you get a ton of them.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
22 Mar 13 UTC
http://webdiplomacy.net/forum.php?threadID=831359&page-thread=1#threadPager

That is probably the thread with the most +1s in it. Maybe the religion debate thread has more due to shear # of posts, but with half the posts in this thread getting at least a +6, I would be surprised if it wasn't up there.

Daylight super-saving time
So, I checked the calendar for sunrise in Holland. Latest sunrise during the year: 8:48 AM (from Christmas to New Year's this is fixed). What if we do this: all secondary schools start their first class at Sunrise+27 min until the sun rises at 7.03 AM, at which time school starts at 7:30 AM for the rest of the year until sun rises after 7.03 again.

March Madness Help Needed!
So unfortunately I live in the UK at the moment and only have a UK itunes account and this means I can't legally stream march madness, normally with sport this isn't a problem as I have no qualms with an illegal stream, but since it is free to stream normally I am struggling to find a place to watch March Madness - if anyone could tell me how to solve this horrible problem I would be very appreciative! Thanks.

I've been told by some people that power selection on this site is entirely random, and by others that it's weighted random, biased in favor of powers you have played less often. I didn't see anything in the Rules/FAQ, though I could have missed it. Anybody know the answer?
