Leftist Weirdies
I've noticed a disgustingly large number of leftist communist liberal weenies on this forum, and believe they should stay off this site. War is a man's game, so if you're a limp-dick leftie, gtfo

I banged a tranny
He was born a female, but now identifies as a male. Can I marry the tranny? Is it even gay marriage? I mean he still has a fine cheekbone structure. How does the church view this? I can get him pregnant, right, so it's cool to marry, right?

Daylight super-saving time
So, I checked the calendar for sunrise in Holland. Latest sunrise during the year: 8:48 AM (from Christmas to New Year's this is fixed). What if we do this: all secondary schools start their first class at Sunrise+27 min until the sun rises at 7.03 AM, at which time school starts at 7:30 AM for the rest of the year until sun rises after 7.03 again.

March Madness Help Needed!
So unfortunately I live in the UK at the moment and only have a UK itunes account and this means I can't legally stream march madness, normally with sport this isn't a problem as I have no qualms with an illegal stream, but since it is free to stream normally I am struggling to find a place to watch March Madness - if anyone could tell me how to solve this horrible problem I would be very appreciative! Thanks.

With every trailer it looks better and better...they seem to have better chemistry this time...Cumberbatch looks like a great villain...for the modern age I love the terrorism angle...

If it doesn't go TOO overboard I think it could be a great one--thoughts?

Just a few Engineer titles that don't involve programming: Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Quality, Electrical (Hardware Design), Test...and the list goes on...

Engineers that program as a given rule: Software

Why is YJ so jealous of Engineers? And yes...I am not a hacker, nor do I have any desire to spend my days in illegal acitivities such as the term "hacking" implies - what a moronic suggestion.

That YJ apparently wishes he were smart enough to hack...is yet another notch in his "YJ-is-an-ass" belt...
Draugnar (0 DX)
21 Mar 13 UTC
@YJ - I know you are picking a fight with krellin, but please quit equating would be programmers (all Engineers without the "Software" in their title) with real programmers (the aforementioned Software Engineers). We codeheads have to keep some part of the IT domain to ourselves. :-)
krellin (80 DX)
21 Mar 13 UTC
YJ knows nothing about the real world - this is obvious - as he is buried neck-deep in "academia". This is further evidence to support the notion that *all* his ideas on politics/the economy/etc are based on theory and ideas, rather than based on a true understanding of the world in which he lives.

It is why people that work for a living, pay taxes and have actual fiscal responsibilities in the world often dismiss the rambling of school kids...because most of them - as Mr. PhD-to-be - haven't a *clue* about reality...
krellin (80 DX)
21 Mar 13 UTC
As for "picking a fight" with me....No, I consider this more like softball batting practice: he keeps lobbing them in, and I swat them back, continuing to diminish his credibility and make him look like the ignorant fool he is increasingly demonstrating he is.

My brother-in-law is a structural engineer working for an architecture firm. I don't think he's ever programmed anything in his life.
My sister (before she gave up engineering for teaching) was a thermal engineer. She, also, has probably not programmed anything since college.
Draugnar (0 DX)

When I worked for a civil engineering firm cleaning up a superfund site in the early 90s, the engineers came to me to write their groundwater modeling, worst case wind event analysis, soil cleaning models, etc. Why? Because they knew they weren't programmers who would analyze allt he possible inputs from external data sources and handle exceptions in a way that wouldn't invalidate their results.
hecks (164 D)
21 Mar 13 UTC
Yeah. It goes both ways. My sister was actually a thermal engineer for a software company. They were working on a thermal modeling software, and they needed someone to tell the programmers what exactly they were programming and what they needed to account for, as well as to explain the finished product to the engineers and architects they were selling it to.
Draugnar (0 DX)
21 Mar 13 UTC
Yep. I don't design the stuff or determine which colculations to use, and they don't write the software that implements those calculations. It is very much a cooperative process.
hecks (164 D)
21 Mar 13 UTC
My brother-in-law's job sounds fun. Architects come to him with wild designs and avant-garde stuff and say, "I'm going to build this!" And he gets to say snarky things like, "Sounds good to me, unless for some reason it's important to you that the building stand up."
Draugnar (0 DX)
21 Mar 13 UTC
Yeah, structural engineers either make architects dreams come true or send them crashing to the ground. :-)

Yelowjacket has problems discerning reality from all the lies he tells himself. He's struggling...be kind to him...

Actually, as is obvious to almost every here but you, krellin, I'm pondering the hilarity of a small social experiment on a man whos response to a serious argument is exactly the same as his response to a patently absurd one.

For all intents and purposes, *you cannot tell the difference* Your reaction to each is the same. I mean I even told you what I was going to do and you still treated it seriously - well if by "serious" you mean your customary hurling abuse and critiquing the IQs of your detractors. You don't really care what you're typing, as long as you feel like you're scoring a point when you type it.

I mean, read back on this whole thing, and observe how I draw out entire paragraphs of response from you by just changing the topic to a new level of absurdity. I didn't even do more than skim anything you replied with. I never responded directly to any challenge or statement you made either, I just attacked attacked attacked in a completely uncoordinated and nonsensical way and surprisingly you kept going along with it in what you no doubt see as a desperate game of one-upmanship.

Knowing what I know, why in gods name do you think anyone should ever take anything you say seriously? You don't argue to prove a point, you argue because it's an opportunity for you to mark out other people. Anything rational you may begin saying is merely a segue into that end goal. And that is why whenever you enter a conversation lately, I just skip to the part you like best.

Thanks for playing along (as if you could stop yourself), you giant, wet, douche.

Random Power Selection
I've been told by some people that power selection on this site is entirely random, and by others that it's weighted random, biased in favor of powers you have played less often. I didn't see anything in the Rules/FAQ, though I could have missed it. Anybody know the answer?

Whose territory is whose?
When negotiating the Balkans or the Netherlands/ Scandinavia, ownership has trends. This thread is to explore how players view ownership of centers in 1901 before the first move is even made. My first post will explain more.
