Make sure you are cognizant of the type of game you are joining. For instance, don't chose a game with phases that are too slow or too fast. Also, make sure you don't join a gunboat game if you want to play a full press game.

If you have played Diplomacy before, you likely will prefer the WTA (winner take all) scoring system over the PPSC (points per supply center) system.

Finally, please make sure you take a look at the site rules (www.webdiplomacy.net/rules.php).

The random games in the 'new game' tab often include players who either CD (fail to check on the game for two straight phases) or cheat (control more than one country - but the mods do a good job of sniffing them out). Don't get discouraged by getting a few low quality games as you're starting here. Most of us join password protected games that are advertised on the forum or by pm. Anywho, welcome to the site. Oh! I have the perfect idea for a role for you in the forums! You play the lost soul that is legitimately politically neutral. Draug will take you under his wing, and you'll slowly turn into the most cynical man on the site (not an easy competition to win)...

You'll have to options when entering your orders: Save or Ready. If everyone enters Ready before the time period is up, the phase will advance. This rarely, rarely happens. There will almost always be one guy who will never "ready up". Don't let it get under your skin, and especially don't complain about it in the forums - but also, don't be that guy.

I had that feeling right after I hit post. It seems that 9/10 when someone is active in the forum as soon as they show up, they're a fucking cheat.

Its also really important that you don't have multiple...accounts...

This member had an older account, wasn't cheating, just couldn't get the password reset to work. As a general rule, if someones reason for being banned is "duplicate" it means they were not cheating, just mistakenly made a 2nd account for some reason or another.

No cheating accusations here, everybody move along.

Make as many accounts as you can because it's easier to win

Ah, it's ok. I had a second account named very similarly that I completely forgot that I had because I had never used it. I guess that account will also say "duplicate"
