webDiplomacy 1.3
Hi all, released webDip 1.3, which actually doesn't contain any new features but makes the code easier to translate for developers. I'm deploying it here so it gets a good bug test before I release it, so please let me know if you spot anything odd or experience any errors.
(The next release will contain new features)

The forum is getting awfully depressing and argumentative lately. It needs more puppies interrupting professional soccer games:

I think that in the case of "legitimate rape", not only can the woman's body reject a pregnancy, but it can also inject a powerful neurotoxin into the penis of the rapist causing death within an hour. So in any case of "rape" that ends in a pregnancy or doesn't end in the death of the rapist, she was clearly asking for it.

Vengeance and Justice are 2 separate things. Sometimes they become one when determining the consequences for crimes.

@SYn - See you come from a backwater third world country. Here in civilized first world countries, we believe rape, and especially pedophilia, come second only to murder. And in some ways it is the more despicable crime because the victim continues to be raped in her mind and in the judicial system where as the murder victim is dead and feels nothing after that.
SYnapse (0 DX)
14 Jan 13 UTC
No, I don't come from a 'backwater third world country', but I guarantee I've been to more of them than you.
I think this forum hit an all time low when the "Oh yeah, well my mother was raped" argument was broached.
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Jan 13 UTC
Your mother was raped in Africa when you were young. Africa is third world. Nuff said.
...And then went lower when Draug used that information to claim the posters country of origin is a shit hole

Santa, I know it's a bit of a lame way to 'win' an argument, but I was just saying that letting your personal feelings into this is shameful. I absolutely sympathize with victims of rape and feel that the offenders should be punished. But I don't know where people get the justification for the typical 'castrate them or kill them' approach for justice that you typically see discussing these things. I'm shocked at the initial question "should we execute rapists", for me the answer is obviously not. If we were discussing should we execute mass murderers, I would still be arguing both ways, but when we're dealing with a crime like rape (very emotional but not very physically damaging, let's be honest) I fail to see how you can ask for the death penalty, unless you are incredibly bloodthirsty.
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Jan 13 UTC
Your words, not mine. Is there anyone drnying the majority of Africa is third world? And SYn doesn't get that rape is about control and power, not sex. SYn is an asshole.
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Jan 13 UTC
Well SYn, your early posts equating rape to property crimes were quite simply assholish. I happen to agree with you but you eent about it all wrong and still seem to insist that rape is just a normal property based crime.
SYnapse (0 DX)
14 Jan 13 UTC
Let's put it this way - I don't think people like Draugnar would be willing to kill people. If I were to put one of his best friends in front of him and say "he has been found guilty of rape - kill him" would you be willing to shoot him in the head and have done with it? If the answer is no, then how can you put these standards on society?
Well Draug, I think its safe to say after that comment you are an ass hole as well

This makes obi's "Your murdered Great Grandparents would be ashamed of you SC" comment look like light criticism

You don't get that burning someone's house down isn't just a property crime either :)
and jesus Syn, how the fuck is Rape not physically damaging. It is incredbly physically damaging and emotionally devastating.

SYn - Please try reading what I type. I already wrote that I disagreed with a death penalty for amything rxcept mortal crimes. Rape alone is not a mortal crime.

Arson is a property crime if no one is there and becomes attempted murder if they are. Try again.
semck83 (229 D(B))
14 Jan 13 UTC
SYn may be pointing out that arson is a peculiarly emotionally devastating property crime, one which robs a person of their most personal belongings that they associate with who they are, their memories, etc.

I don't think that justifies his equivocation, but I do think you can make the case that it's quite a lot worse than any other property crime.

jesus. The only good thing that would come of this is if Obi sees this and suffers a mental break from the shear morally self righteous tsunami that will engulf his brain. Perhaps it will jar him back to normal.

i dont think its a viable punishment based off the fact of how common false rape reports occur many which arent recanted for years. the only way i would support this if the punishment for making a false report were just as severe. as it is i have friends monthly dealing with them (i live very close to a state university). i am a fan though of chemical castration when the evidence is overwhelming.
those college women, just throwing around rape accusations. Poor men.
*but in all seriousness, if your friends are monthly dealing with rape accusations, you should probably find new friends...
Bitemenow10 (100 D)

no dude its an epidemic, and by my friends monthly i mean i hear of one of my friends dealing with it (im rather popular around here so thats like 1 in 600ish) girl gets drunk and goes home with a guy wakes up next morning not remembering how she got there or sees that he doesent look the same that he did with beer goggles on calls rape. stop victimizing the female gender
ha women crying rape because a guy doesn't look good. epidemic.
Bitemenow10 (100 D)

it happens, more often then u suspect. go look at false rape statistics on college campuses last time i saw it it was something like 2 in 9 are false reports it becomes a rather staggering number of false reports when you include it into this: The most recent large-scale study, including students at both two- and four-year colleges, found 35 rapes per 1,000 female students over seven months.

that means at the average state college out of 40000 female students theres 1400 rape cases and 311 of them are found to be false in a period of seven months. are you willing to discount 311 men per college (assuming it isnt repeat offenders) just because rape is supposedly a blameless crime?
“This is actually pretty simple. If you’re about to talk about rape as anything other than a brutal and horrible crime, stop,” said Republican strategist Kevin Madden.

Athiests, Christians, Monty Python fans and debaters alike - you must watch this clip!
This is an interview with John Cleese and Michael Palin after the release of "Life of Brian" and it is fucking brilliant. I absolutely love the way the educated English can sound so civil while hurling insults at each other. Al Swearington would be proud! It's refreshing to see 4 people argue with eachother so brilliantly, humorously and politely

Welfare States
I know the positives... I've thought about it for ages. According to all of you, thinking optimistically while maintaining a realistic view on what I can get is naive. So what's the negative that I apparently don't get about socialism or corporatism? They're bad words to each other, but what's so bad about either?
