gameID=97732It is amazing that my first solo comes in a variant of Diplomacy that I was never fond of. I am a fan of Classic, and these other variants don't always have the appeal of Classic WebDip.
My moves from the beginning to Autumn of 2:
I was not involved with these moves because either Dagabs or Nightfire was Greece in the game, until they were banned for multi. However, when I took over, the multis had got me 6 SC's.
2-3:
I immediately capitalized on my position, taking Miletus and defending myself against an attack from Persia. I then built in Athens (a fleet) and attacked Rome, who had moved into Illryia and Dalmatia in the Spring and Dalmatia and Epirus in the fall, threatening to take Macedonia. I managed to take Sinope in the east and pulled my army from Dacia to Macedonia to defend against an attack. The capture of Sinope gave me a build, and I built an army in Athens. At this point, I had 8 SC's.
4:
I support held my forces in Greece with support holds between F ION, F MES, A Athens and A Macedonia. Meanwhile, I had moved F Miletus to Cilician Straits in Autumn of 3, so I struck at Antioch. I also moved the army I moved into Armenia in Autumn of 3 to Damascus, while also moving the army in Sinope to Cheronesus. In the fall, I used double support to move Macedonia to Epirus and moved Cheronesus to Sarmatia, preparing for an attack of Rome. I had 10 SC's by builds.
5: This was my second most productive year in the game, as I grabbed 4 SC's. Having built an army in Macedonia and F in Sparta the year before, I moved to the Messenian from Sparta and convoyed the army from Athens to Apulia. I also moved the newly built army in Macedonia to Illryia. In the Middle East, I moved Antioch to the Cicilian Straits, preparing to take Cyprus. I moved Damascus to Sidon so I could grab another SC. In the fall, I held in Sidon and moved to Cyprus. I used support from Epirus to take Dalmatia and moved Apulia to Ravenna, which was completely undefended. I also used support from the fleet in Crete to move from the Messesnian to the Libyan Sea. I now had 14 SC's and pulled out my vote for a draw. I built a F in Sparta and two more armies in Macedonia and Athens.
5: My most productive year of the game, with 5 SC's acquired. Seeing that the A in Vindobona had been disbanded, I moved Sarmatia to Vindobona. I also moved Dalmatia to Venetia to cut possible support from Etruria to Roma. I used Ravenna to support another convoy to Apulia, and moved the F in Cyprus to the Egyptian Sea, with support from Crete and F Libyan Sea. I moved Sidon to Tyre, which was also unoccupied. In the fall, I held Vindobona and had Tyre support hold the CD'd Egyptian army in Jerusalem. I used support from the F in the Egyptian Sea to move F Libyan Sea to Alexandria. I used F ION support to move Apulia to Naples and moved into Roma unchallenged. I used A Venetia to cut the support hold of of Etruria to Massilia, as a precautionary measure. I got 5 SC's and won the game here with 19 SC's.
Other notes:
Persia/Egypt: CD'd, I took advantage of their CDs.
Rome: Was outmaneuvered by my multiple armies in the area.
Carthage: Put up a solid game and got 2nd place after me in the game. If Carthage had only attacked me and not Egypt, he could have prevented the solo.
