I was Turkey, and scraped a draw...

S01. Opened neutrally (Bul/Con/Black Sea Bounce.
R goes south, bounces in Gal - possible Juggernaut?

A attacks everywhere, I cautiously pro Austrian (could be trouble for me), G cautious, F anti G, E anti F.

A01. Get Gre, bounced out of Bul. R only gets one build - F Sev, which puts me under pressure and probably pleases E, G, I and particularly A.

1902. Swap Gre for Bul.
1903. Try vainly to support Russia in Rum.
1904. Get Gre back temporarily. Italy spots this and supports Austria back in. Army disbanded.
1905. Trying only to survive and sneak a draw. Shuffle my units about so I can support Con and bounce Austria in Arm.
1906. Continuation of same. 2 strokes of luck. Austria sets up a train of armies going north rather than take Arm, and builds an army in Tri - which means he'll need Italian assistance to attack Con - and Italy seems to be a smart cookie with his own agenda...

1907-1909. Holding and bouncing to maintain the status quo. A and I still allied, attack G who sensibly retreats to Scandinavia to regroup. I and E engage in desultory naval warfare - I think E, like me, hopes for a draw at best whilst I is more conI

This game started out well for me in Germany. I was at eight by the end of 1902, though I got my eighth by accident. I was trying to cut Paris to help my supposed British ally keep Brest. Instead, I took Paris as France recaptured Brest from that spot.

France forced me out of Paris in Spring 1903, and in the Fall, I used my armies in Picardy and Burgundy to cut two French supports in hopes of allowing the Brit to retake Brest. Instead, he supported himself into my Belgium.

That touched off a ferocious war between the two of us. While we beat the hell out of each other, the A/I seized control of the game.

A turn after we both lost centers to the A/I, England and I disengaged and defended our respective parts of the board. Our defense was game enough to slow them down.

Austria eventually joined the chorus of draw votes, and in 1911 or so, Italy stabbed him. That touched off a desperate Grand Alliance against Italy, and in Autumn 1913, he finally voted for the draw.

It was a fun, hard-fought game. Glad I joined it.

I is more con erned with limiting A's gains in Germany. A eventually builds a fleet in Tri...

1911 onwards. I convoys an army to Syria, forcing me to support hold Smy and hence let A into Arm. I then supports me, to stop A. I think I've had it and attempt a convoy to Rum which fortuitously bounces - A needs that army in Gal rather than Rum. G's Baltic fleet manages to break down A's defences in StP. A flags for a draw. I disband Bla and concentrate on supporting A against I. With G and A working together in the north and E holding the line a five way IAGETZ draw is agreed. Phew...

Have recently played Gunboat....and, while in "normal" Diplomatic games I have a good record in recent months, Gunboat was a **disaster**.

Fund for the Public Interest
Anyone worked for them? I was offered a job as a field manager, making about 400-500 a week for the summer. I've read plenty of bellyaching online. Some of it was legitimate, but has since largely been resolved by a class action lawsuit. The rest was basically complaining that it was a lot of work, at only a little bit above minimum, and repeated failure to meet your fundraising quota resulted in firing, no if's and's or but's about it.

Replacement needed.
Not an amazing position but a potentially goo one and very influential, especially if you come before the adjudication in 7 minutes.

The Thread for People Who Want to Gunboat Good and Do Other Stuff Good Too
Would the gunboaters who frequent the 1000 D buy-in games please post here how they play gunboats so the rest of us may learn from you? Looking at a game isn't enough, we need to know what you're thinking when you see a board. What does the better player see that I miss?
