Agreed on all counts pretty much. It was great fun trying to keep on top of everything and staying alert to stabs on all fronts. To answer your questions:
The attacks on Burgundy were purely defensive. Looking back, I'm seeing that it was '04 when that stalemate began. In '03, Burgundy was not occupied, and I was feeling pretty good about our ability to disentangle, so I left MUN. But then in Spring you supported yourself to Burgundy, tapped BEL, and moved to TYL. The first two were probably defensive, but the TYL move made me a bit nervous, even though it was not overtly anti-me. But I was stalemated against Warsaw so withdrew to a more defensive position. Then by '05 you picked up 2 more scs, occupied PIC & BUR, and built another northern fleet. These moves I considered anti-German, especially considering the jump you had on me against England. From the point on I was expecting an attempt on BEL and was determined to at least slow down any attack. I tried intermittently to signal support from BEL, but I can understand how that might not have been enough.
I agree it would have been better for us to go our separate ways, but it was just hard. Too bad. I'm curious to know if you agree with my reasoning process.
2nd question: I consider France a threat after TUN only if there's a weak England.
3rd question: At that point it you had 4 fleets to my three, and they were definitely northward-oriented. I figured I would be seeing a French armada headed my way. Maybe I was wrong? But coupled with Russia's move to GOL, I needed the fleet to at least cover BAL.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
