If you look back in history you're going to find a lot of Nazi Sympathizers, Anti-Semitism was common through most of Europe, and yes common in America.People generally disliked the Jews, its little surprise they would be sympathetic with the Nazi's.

To sympathise with. Please. In war era USA around 30% of the population was Anti-Semites. It was far worse in Europe.
