Reboot of cancelled world game: Gain the World, Lose Your Soul
Hey all, really enjoyed this world game I was in until it was cancelled due to a cheater CD. I was hoping most of the players in that game want to start a new one with about the same crew.. It was a high point world game, with a lot of players I'd love to play against again.

The curse of Austria is upon me :-(
I have Austria in all but one of my current classic games, 5 out of 6! What happened to balancing the countries you get?!I would think this was not supposed to happen with the selection program. Please advise. Unless it is the way the mods are getting back at me... (to be fair I am doing well in several of them, over 9 SCs in two, but still...)

We need someone to take austria in spring 1901.
Someone got banned in our game during spring 1901 (we are still in spring 1901). We need a replacement (for Austria). 2 days/turn game. 46 hours left at the moment since time was added.

Obi's Picks:

GB @ DET: I'll take the major upset say the LIONS work the Turkey day magic on the Pack
MIA @ DAL: I'm just in that kinda mood, and I'll roll with my lunacy--DOLPHINS over Dallas
SF @ BAL: Too close to call, so my fandom calls it for me--49ERS ALL THE WAY! :D
MIN @ ATL: The FALCONS keep up their second-half surge attempt...
TB @ TEN: ...However, so do the BUCCANEERS
ARI @ STL: The CARDINALS win a game that's all but irrelevant
CAR @ IND: Cam and the PANTHERS finally get a win to go with that flair
CLE @ CIN: The BENGALS stay in the playoff picture with a win here
HOU @ JAX: With or without Schaub, I have to take the TEXANS here
BUF @ NYJ: In a close game that might make or break both teams' seasons...JETS
WAS @ SEA: The REDSKINS attempt to stay mildly relevant...but in truth, neither team here is
CHI@OAK: A close matchup of streaky teams...I'll give the tie to the home team--RAIDAHS
NE @ PHI: Two teams I don't care...but one has a far better shot than the other: PATRIOTS
DEN @ SD: In a critical AFC West showdown, the CHARGERS just keep their slim hopes alive
PIT @ KC: The same can't be said of the newly-Ortonized-Chiefs...STEELERS easily
NYG @ NO: On just a gut feeling, I'll take the GIANTS over the Saints in the Monday Nighter

Was it just me or did penalties ruin the packers lions game?
Penalties ruined the game in the sense of making it less enjoyable. I don't think it changed the outcome. Despite the prior week's 5 TDs, Stafford didn't look right throwing the ball.

I had nearly my whole fantasy team playing yesterday, with pretty mediocre results (Matthew Stafford, Nate Burleson, Jermichael Finley, Demarco Murray, Ray Rice, Baltimore D, Michael Crabtree).
Leif_Syverson (271 D)
26 Nov 11 UTC
Yeah that was what I was meaning, ruined in the sense of it was kinda painful to watch..
The first half turned into a defensive struggle between two of the best offenses and two of the worst (at least in terms of consistency) defenses in the league.

And was Suh stupid or what?
acmac10 (120 D(B))
26 Nov 11 UTC
The Lions as the best offense (or second, whatever)? Definitely not. I suspect the Lions won't even make the play offs as they've had only one solid, reputable win in Week 4 against the Cowboys. They will go 9-7 and miss the play offs. They will lose to Green Bay (at Lambeau!), San Diego, and New Orleans (at the Superdome).

As for the best two offenses, Patriots and Packers. Packers are undisputed because of simply Aaron Rodgers and his weapons. Pats are ranked third in NFL for yards per game and points per game. With Brady, Gronkowski, and Welker (not to mention the potential of Aaron Hernandez and Deoin Branch), it is one of the best pass forces in the league, and with a slightly above average running game--Benjarvus Green-Ellis--they can and should be considered in the top 2.
SacredDigits (102 D)
26 Nov 11 UTC
I dunno, ac, it's not like the Chargers are showing themselves to be solid and reputable either. I think Detroit will win there.
acmac10 (120 D(B))
26 Nov 11 UTC
True, but the Jets are more likely to get the second wild card at 10-6 with games at WAS and BUF.
SacredDigits (102 D)
26 Nov 11 UTC
Er, uh, the Jets...do not compete with the Lions for Wild Card position.

The Jets are in the AFC, where the likely wild cards, in my eyes, are the two AFC North teams that are not A) the Browns or B) the Division Winner. Either the Steelers or Ravens could win the division, the other will get a wild card, and then the Bengals are likely to get the second one.

In the NFC, only the Bears and maybe the Bucs have real shots at getting into Wild Card shape. The Lions have a far easier path.
SacredDigits (102 D)
26 Nov 11 UTC
Sorry, meant to say Falcons, not Bucs.
What about the Giants? They have a shot if they can go even this month. They beat your cited 2nd best offense in the league (or they just have a natural ability to beat the Patriots)
SacredDigits (102 D)
26 Nov 11 UTC
Personally, I think the Giants are going to win the NFC East and the Cowboys are going to fade hard.
11-4 I think. Not too bad, if I say so myself
Leif_Syverson (271 D)
28 Nov 11 UTC
11-4 as well..

Sorry, I don't think the lions have one of the best offences in the league.. I meant to say "what was purported to be" the best offences in the league. Thats what the announcers were claiming on thursday morning anyway. I would agree that the Packers, Patriots and the Saints are clear front runners, with Dallas (when Romo isn't flustered), Atlanta (at home), and Pittsburg (when Big Ben isn't chasing women), are the runners up but not as explosive as the front three.

The Lions, the Bears (with Cutler), the Texans (with Shaub), and the Giants (with all players healthy), and SF would be other offenses I wouldn't want to try to come from behind against, though all these (except maybe SF) are currently rather suspect.

The rest are a crap shoot, though Cinncinati, Carolina, Buffalo, and Miami (under Matt Moore) have shown they can be good. Baltimore and the Jets have pitiful offences, though their top caliber defenses keep them in most games.
acmac10 (120 D(B))
28 Nov 11 UTC
13-2. Now it all comes down to good ol' New Orleans.
Yeah, "with all players healthy" is a key thing for the Giants, and we haven't really been seeing much of it lately. I'm not looking forward to tonight
virtuslatin (130 D)
28 Nov 11 UTC
The Cowboys are going to fade and the Giants win? Have you seen who each team is playing against? The only way for the Giants to win the NFC east (and this is coming from a giants fan) is to win BOTH of the dallas games and hope for a tied overall record with the tie break coming from head to head.
Glad to see another Giants fan on here. Its not looking too good. Worst. Schedule. Ever.
virtuslatin (130 D)
28 Nov 11 UTC
True, but we did ourselves no favors. Sadly I live in DC now, so the only game I got to see live was week 1's debacle. they are hit or miss for making national TV here, but the past couple of weeks have been good.

Im oddly optimistic about next week. The Pack must lose eventually, they didnt look good on Sunday, and I imagine the Giants bear a grudge from last season. Plus, the home element cant hurt.
I'm in DC too and they're always on for me....especially a monday night game like tonight. I am optimistic about next week too. Pressure Rodgers enough and he'll eventually crack
virtuslatin (130 D)
28 Nov 11 UTC
Is there a Giants Bar in DC? I havent actually gone looking, since I normally prefer my couch and free beer, but I am doubting the 24th game will be televised in DC given the skins are the competing game and time.
Well, not old enough to go to the bars actually. next season, but I get it on my cable all the time, so long as the Redskins aren't playing at the same time. But there are usually two games on anyways
Rodgers will never crack! Pressure him enough, and you might limit him to a 2 TD, 2 INT game. :)
That's enough to for the Packers to lose :)
Well, sadly I'm 12-4. Giants suck
Leif_Syverson (271 D)
29 Nov 11 UTC
With the way the Pack's defense is tackling, I'd agree with you goldfinger. However, the Pack's defense is top of the league in forcing turnovers, so that still makes it a tough game even if Rodgers only throws 2 TD's. Getting 2 picks from Rodgers is about as tall an order as you can find..

Speaking of... Beating the Saints at home is probably one of those tall orders that comes close to Rodgers throwing 2 picks in a game.. Giants are still the biggest threat to the Pack's undefeated season despite their ugly loss last night.

I must say though, the Pack's last 5 games look way better than the Giants. Dallas twice, GB, and the Jets, even the game against washington isn't a gimme..

I'd much rather play Oakland Chicago, KC, and Detroit right now.
Leif_Syverson (271 D)
29 Nov 11 UTC
oh and nice week acmac! 14-2 is pretty damn near perfect if you throw out Tebow Time and the 49ers folding..
SacredDigits (102 D)
29 Nov 11 UTC
I still think the Cowboys are going to fade. And then the NFC East has to go to someone. If the Cowboys fade super hard, the Giants' two games against them will give them the NFC East lead, the other three games won't matter too much.

I think that the Giants and Lions are probably the two best bets to hand GB a defeat. Oakland, KC, and Chicago are no real threat to them right now. Yes, the Lions were sloppy and took themselves out of the game on Thanksgiving, but their second meeting is likely to have playoff ramifications.

Moves question (can't believe I have to ask this -_-)
If Russia has an army in Moscow and that army moves to another center and fails. At the same time Russia moves to Moscow from StP with support from Livonia. At the same time Turkey moves from Ukraine to Moscow with support from Sevastopol. If it matters the army in Moscow is moving to Warsaw which is occupied by a German army that does not move the entire time. Who ends up with Moscow?
None of the centers involved are attacked in any way besides what was described.
