This is the second time I've noticed this. Has anyone else gotten it?

When there is just one post on the newest page in a thread, my FF4 will not recognize that that page exists until that page has a second post.

Ankara Crescent anyone?
So many threads lately have been dark and angry... How about we all lighten up with a game of Ankara Crescent? Standard map and the '46 revisions, if you don't mind.

Historically accurate, or biased crap?

Although I know this will devolve into communist/capitalist "debate" (ranting), i just want to know if you think this is an accurate representation of what happened. (with the exception of tetris blocks everywhere)

Which CD is worse: Start, Mid or End Game?
I CDed first thing in a gunboat earlier today. My bad. Thanks to kind.of.slow for wiping me out so that 'Resign' tag on my profile stays at 1. I think the best time to CD is right out of the gates; at least the game can develop without any nasty surprises. I'm curious what the WebDip hive mind has to say on the topic.

Ever wondered why getting people arrested and convicted for war crimes takes so long?
The UN prosecutor for Balkan war crimes speaks outside The Hague about the tribunal staff after the arrest of Ratko Mladic...

"Their efforts are specially impressive given that we are working in the shadow of the tribunal's completion strategy and the resulting lack of job security for our staff"

Nice to know they have their priorities in order!

Karadzic and Milosevic already embarrassed the Hague. Mladic will do the same. Why isn't Thaci, Haradinaj and Oric in prison? Because the Hague is a big joke.

Kosovo is the favoured child of NATO, the ICTY refuses to do anything about the crimes committed against minorities in Kosovo after 1999 including the destruction of the Roma community and the alleged trafficking of human organs taken from up to 300 Serbs and other minorities. Agim Ceku was the former head of the KLA, was then elected to be Prime Minister of Kosovo and now Minister of Security Forces. Janko Bobetko, a Croat, lived openly in Croatia until 2003, he was elected to parliament in 1995.

That is the best way to describe how the Hague trial works.

I think you are asking the wrong question. A better question might be how they ever get caught at all. Tracking down these little monsters is complex and dangerous work - why would someone bother spending the time when you could be watching american idol or playing diplomacy instead.
Really it's the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff. Much better to prevent these crimes happening in the first place. Convicting these sad little fucks will not bring any of the victims back from the dead.
However, if you have a chance to murder one of them, I promise to look the other way ;)

Considering that Idi Amin lived out his life in luxury in the hospitality of our staunch ally in the war against terror, Saudi Arabia, I'm happy that at least some of these fuckers get caught.

Well thats good Thuc. Just curious: in what way exactly have you supported the arrest of war criminals?
Thucydides (864 D(B))

By not impeding it and not questioning the legitimacy of international tribunals.

interesting yet unrelated.

And you're asking the right questions fiedler - allow me to continue - Putin, how have you opposed this hypocrisy in the Hague?

and fiedler : "Much better to prevent these crimes happening in the first place." what ahve you dont to prevent these crimes in the first place?
fiedler (1293 D)

@orathaic:

My first post had a certain subtlety that certain dumbasses managed to misinterpet and then post their smug proclamations of moral superiority. So the second post was an attempt to, I dunno, get them thinking in more subtle terms. Ha, might as well try and jump over the moon eh ;P

"what ahve you dont to prevent these crimes in the first place?"
- well first of all you fail english, return to go and do not collect $200.
I never claimed to be doing any such thing - the point of my two previous posts, which was obviously far too subtle, was that supporting something in principle and expecting the world to magically conform to your ideal without any actual effort on your part, or indeed regardless of your effort, is unrealistic. Which ties-in you see with you wondering why it takes so long for magic people to magically arrest war criminals. As I said it is difficult, expensive and very dangerous work. Ratko probably just finally ran out of bribe money and friends.

"And you're asking the right questions fiedler - allow me to continue - Putin, how have you opposed this hypocrisy in the Hague?"

I am happy Mladic was caught, but the ICTY is very anti-Serbian. That is not to say Serbia is innocent, but the ICTY refuses to do anything about Kosovar or Croatian war crimes. UN officials have interfered with Serbian attempts to prosecute Albanian war criminals. Also, the article above should read:
http://www.germanlawjournal.com/pdfs/Vol08No01/PDF_Vol_08_No_01_81-94_SI_Cahn.pdf

Also, the prosecution in the re-trials against Ramush Haradinaj and Idriz Balaj have dropped the charges of committing crimes against humanity.

Maybe it's a good teaching point, maybe it's sour grapes after putting in three hours in what was a solid gunboat. At anyrate, gameID=60516 has an endgame that some of you might have to see to believe.
