Do ghost ratings take into account a difference between press and no press?
I am just wondering if ghost ratings take into account different types of games? I have only played gunboat or public press games on here, simply because of time constraints/internet access issues. However, it occurred to me that the gunboat vs. regular are so totally different games that maybe there should be two different ratings systems.

Your Ideal Woman, Man, &c.
How would you describe your perfect partner?

Big tits, perfect ass, no brains
Just kidding...

My perfect partner? Figglewiggle if only he was a girl
Jamiet99uk (873 D)

MMmm yeah. Intelligent, big tits, round ass, slutty dress sense, loose sexual morals, love of rock music.
DonQuigleone (294 D)
13 Apr 10 UTC
Witty.

Alas a quality seldom seen in a woman. (You just can't get the humourous rapport with ladies that you get with guys, what can I say?)

Thucydides (864 D(B))

Well.

Smart. She has to be smart.

And not just book smart. A reasonable person. Someone who listens to reason.

And not fat.

That basically does it, as long as she's shorter me (which they all are).

Well that's not true, she better be DTF too.

Nope. I have a woman who satisfies all these qualities.

down-to-fuck, a non-prude.

Sorry but that's a dealbreaker.... I mean... what am I looking for a relationship for besides three things: a fallback person for favors, emotional companionship, and sex?

Would be a close and dear friend even if she wasn't my partner. Smart, hard working, funny, pretty but strong and healthy - able to and willing to play sports with the guys. Not into make up and high heels - natural girl. Loves music, conversation, reading, politics... Loves to travel (not the tours as much as really being there for a while), loves to camp and hike, loves the beach... an atheist or deist (because the evidence suggests one of the two as most likely... I like my woman to be logical and skeptical), brave, passionate, patient, strong-willed, confident, willing to listen, knows that they don't have all the answers, loyal, and realizes the difference between being in love and love - and appreciates and needs both.
DonQuigleone (294 D)
13 Apr 10 UTC
@dexter morgan Good luck. If you find one like that could you clone her for me? Thx (But can she discuss the finer aspects of Diplomacy Strategy?)
DJEcc24 (246 D)
13 Apr 10 UTC
The girl needs to be able to cook. this is very important to me. Sweet girl, not a troublemaker, pretty of course. and important to me is that she believes in the same morals and politics and that kinda deal. but yeah i really want a good cook
Stukus (2126 D)
13 Apr 10 UTC
+1 DJEcc24! A great cook is fantastic.

As for me, intelligent, mature, and sense-of-humor are the big ones. dexter morgan seems to have listed everything good, though. Athletics aren't so important to me, although I do want her to be healthy. She doesn't have to be sporty, though. I want someone I can talk to as an equal, so rational, smart, willing to listen and talk. She should be interesting. I love a girl who's kind and caring. Strong-willed is preferred, but not a must. I just don't want to be treated as a superior by her or by anyone else for that matter. DTF isn't too big for me, since I'm a virgin, but I want her to be willing to do other things, at least. The bedroom is a big part of a relationship.

Physically, I think quality beats quantity in the breasts department. What's the point of sagging DDs? I'd rather have perky As or Bs. That being said, if they're perky, then size doesn't hurt. I tend to go for dark hair and dark eyes, too. Not too small, but not too big heightwise and widthwise.

More longterm, I want to marry a bilingual woman, so she can raise the kid that way. And I definitely think you should marry someone with whom you'd be friends even if the love were gone.

No girls or guys want to discuss their perfect guy? I was hoping we'd get more diverse contributions.
DonQuigleone (294 D)
13 Apr 10 UTC
This IS a Diplomacy forum. I'd say guys outnumber gals 1000 to 1. In fact I'd be surprised if any girls were on here. And if someone claims to be a girl, they're probably lying to get an in-game advantage.

@Don, My wittiest friends are girls. Of course, most of my friends are girls, so it's a biased sample, but still, I feel I should stand up for them. : )

@Don, there are quite a few girls who play this.

@DonQuigleone
There ARE women on this game. I don't know how many, but I know for sure at least one and I sure as hell don't use my gender to get advantages in games because I can kick a lot of people's asses just fine with them thinking that I'm just some random dude on the net. :P
DonQuigleone (294 D)
13 Apr 10 UTC
But you COULD use your gender as an advantage, particularly in F2F. Whether this is considered "good" or not, would be up to the individual player. Personally I don't see anything wrong with using it to take advantage of male chivalry.
dexter morgan (225 D(S))
13 Apr 10 UTC
@DonQuigleone, actually I got one... been married 20 years. Cloning doesn't work, though. She has an identical twin and about half of those qualities are reversed in the twin. She's also a great cook (used to be head cook in a restaurant - but we both love cooking anyway). I like the bilingual idea. Neither of us are. And no, sadly she doesn't share my interest in gaming - at all. Thankfully half her relatives do. I got really lucky in one other respect too... she ages really really well. This is important, guys. Pay attention to this one... Look at the mother (I guess father too) of your love interest - that is how she'll look to a very large degree in 25 years or whatever. If the mother is completely falling apart it could be a bad sign.

How can you tell if a pornstar loves rock music and is intelligent?
Jamiet99uk (873 D)
14 Apr 10 UTC
By getting to know them, just like how you'd find out if any other person was intelligent and what their likes and dislikes were. I've spoken to a few pornstars and they often turn out to be far less dumb than people might assume.

Haha, no offence taken mate. Actually no though, she is real. We've been together 7 years. She wouldn't be everyone's ideal partner though - think about the "loose sexual morals" from another angle. I, however, am not the jealous type, so we have a good understanding.

I believe everyone has a quality or qualities that draw them to you.
1.Looks -Everyone wants an attractive mate/girlfriend.
2.Itellect-If you share common intrests/opinions.You have someone to discuss with.Or if different you have someone to debate with or introduce to something new.
3.Loose morals-Everyone wants there mate/girlfriend .To meet there sexual desire and/or there fetishes.
Having said that i find drinking negates 1 and 2 and draws you to #3.We don't care for looks or inteligence we just want to get our groove on.
Stukus (2126 D)

Well alcohol is a poison, so you could say that only when we're poisoned do we entirely ignore 1 and 2.

That's why it was invented by a group of fat ugly women so that they could get some loving to.They knew the effects it would have on decsion making.
Podium,
I would disagree wholeheartedly with your entire post.

#3I don't want my wife to have loose morals. And if she had loose morals when I met her, I doubt she'd be my wife now.

I would agree with #1, but with the caveat that the definition 'attractive' will differ for everyone. What I might find 'attractive' you might not, and vice versa.

#2 Are you essentially saying 'If you have common interests, or if you don't have common interests', that a quality to look for?
dexter morgan (225 D(S))
14 Apr 10 UTC
"#2 Are you essentially saying 'If you have common interests, or if you don't have common interests', that a quality to look for? "

lol. I think the key is something like this: Common values and tastes, but differing backgrounds, knowledge and perspective... so you bath can share things that are new to the other (say about music that the other hasn't heard) and the other will very likely enjoy/appreciate it and have a widened perspective. And of course, a certain aspect to the different perspective will persist... and will keep things interesting. Another person will always be a bit like a foreign country (and that keeps it interesting)... but it is critical that you speak the same language, so to speak.
podium (498 D)

@ Dingle. I agree with you on point #1 -What floats your boat is not necessarily what others find attractive.
On point #2 I said intrests. But meant to include career, education, relgious beliefs, current affairs, politics and moral issues. If someone is similiar/or different you can have coversation or debate in a productive manner with someone who can get point across with out emotion or stubbornness getting in the way.To me that is what intelligent people do.
On #3-You want everyone to remain virgins till marriage?I was not impling ease with which we enter into sexual relations.Rather that everyone has different fetishes.ie -spanking,role playing.group sex, porn watching, voyeurism etc etc. That winds us and we seek mates who share these intrests so we can have a healthy sex life. Why go through life unhappy. And look at divorce rates. If your sexual compatible you won't seek outside relationships.
Podium, "You want everyone to remain virgins till marriage?"

I don't believe that non-virgins necessarily have 'loose morals'. If you do believe that, and violate your own morals anyway, I would say that makes you a bad person. I think perhaps you are not stating clearly what you are trying to say.
podium (498 D)
14 Apr 10 UTC
@Dingle-When you stated you didn't want your wife to have loose morals.I thought you where implying that if one entered into sexual relationships before marriage that they they had loose morals.Or quickly into a sex realtionship they had loose morals.
I read somewhere that 85% of men admitted to a one night stand. And in same survey only 25% of women admitted to it. Are we all sleeping with a small % of the female population or does society still think it is fine for boys to be boys and women prime and proper.Forcing them to not tell the thruth?
If it is accurate then maybe we all should get tested for STDs more often.
Podium, I think my point was quite clear. I don't want my wife to have 'loose morals', but the only one who could define 'loose morals' would be me.

Today On The Philosopher's Corner: Kant's Categorical vs. Mill's Action-and-Utility
I LOVE Philosophy. And I LOVE my Philosophy of Ethics class in the college I go to- the class is active and actually inquisitive, great material, and the professor's hilarious, engaging, and sharp, Dr. Zhu. (THICK accent.) In our class, every session there's a showdown: its obiwanobiwan vs. The Cop (both of us share the actual real name.) I champion Mill, and ACT Utilitarianism. The Cop, being used to strictness and cold law, LOVES Kant. Categorical vs. Utility?

Javascript Timeouts when entering orders on World Variant
I am not entirely sure where this goes, so if I am posting in the wrong spot, please redirect me. In a world variant in which I am playing (http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=20858), when I (and it appears others) try to either convoy an army or move an army that borders the sea, entering the final combo box of the order takes a very long time and I recently had to click the "No" button to allow Internet Explorer to continue around 16-18 times per order to get them to "stick".
